01. Escape Again
"Excuse me Miss, do you want to buy mineral water?"
Clarias looked up at the boy holding a bottle of mineral water to her. The child's face looks tired, with many sweat spots on several parts of his face.
Clarias flashed a small smile and nodded. "How much does it cost?" she asked, reaching into her sling bag.
"Two dollars."
The girl handed a piece of money to the boy.
“Thanks—huh, why are you giving me a candy too?” The boy's brow furrowed when he found a lollipop in his folded bills. He looked alternately at the candy and the gifted girl, not understanding.
Clarias returned a small smile. "May I know your name?"
"Leri, Miss."
She put the mineral water on the next chair, then Clarias held each boy's shoulders.
"Leri, there are many types of evil in the world, one of which is smoking," said Clarias, "cigarettes are not bad for other people, but are bad for those who consume them, including you."
The boy's pupils widened as if he couldn't believe what he had just heard. "Miss knows that I smoke?" the question left Leri's lips in a surprised tone.
'How could she know that I smoke? Even though I didn't bring cigarettes today, but... how come....' whispered Leri to himself.
Hearing that question, Clarias couldn't help but give a short chuckle. “Don't smoke anymore, and don't skip school either. If you keep skipping school, at the age of twenty-three you will regret it and die because of depression about the economy.” Clarias widened her smile when she saw the boy's eyes getting bigger, then she continued, "but, if you study hard, at the age of twenty you will quickly get a job with one of the food companies."
“Huh?”
"Do you believe everything I just said?"
"Of course not!" replied Leri quickly. How could he believe such nonsense?!
Clarias nodded slightly. “All my sentences sound like full of lies, but I don't think my face shows that I'm a braggart. Why can't you trust me? Even though I just told you about your future, little brat.”
"Give me ten dollars, only then will I believe everything you say," Leri replied.
Clarias's mouth immediately opened. "Woah, I didn't expect that you blatantly wanted to steal my money."
"I'm not stealing, I'm just trying to make a deal."
"What kind of bullshit is that?" Clarias grumbled with a laugh. “Just now you spoke as if I was a braggart. But look now, it's you who looks more like a fraud, little brat."
Leri finally grinned widely, not asking Clarias for money as he had said earlier. Let's say he was only joking because the older girl in front of him seemed fun to talk to.
"Okay Miss, I will think about your sentence earlier, I do not fully believe it, but maybe what you said earlier is true," said the little boy.
Clarias nodded. "That's true, because I can see the future of others."
"Yes, yes, it's up to you, Miss," the younger replied indifferently. Then he saw Clarias' appearance and realized that she looked messy. “You… look messy, what have you been doing in this train station?” he asked curiously.
Ah, yes, right now, Clarias was at the train station. With a sling bag and makeshift clothes because she didn't have time to dress up. "I ran away from home," Clarias answered lightly.
"You ran away?!" asked the boy in disbelief. "But why?"
Clarias nodded again, who knows how many times. "I'm bored at home, my parents never let me go to town if I'm not with the maids, whereas I want to be free to go wherever I want, so I choose to run away."
"You've grown up, but why do your parents always ask you to go out with a maid?" asked Leri, but the next second, the boy's pupils narrowed. "You're important, aren't you?"
Instead of answering, Clarias cast her gaze elsewhere. The girl looked at the people who looked busy walking around in this not-too-large train station, some seemed to be walking casually, but some also looked in a hurry as if they were chasing something important.
It might seem tiring to be those humans, but Clarias really wanted to be one of them. She wants to experience a normal life without being cooped up in a magnificent building that feels oppressive to her.
Realizing that his question had brought a sad expression from Clarias, Leri finally gave a new question to get the girl's attention again. "Hey Miss, if you run away, won't that be a problem later?"
"Sure, but I don't care. Let's just say this is my last escape agenda before I'm really going to be trapped in that big house."
“Caged?” asked Leri, now even his face suddenly turned sad. "Did your parents do something bad to you?"
“No, it's not like that. They just keep pushing me to get married and I have to follow their wishes, even though I really don't want to.”
"Ah... I see."
Clarias smiled faintly and then stood up, the carriage had arrived and she had to get ready to enter. "Thank you for attending to my talk, I hope you will listen to what I have said before. Then I'll go first, take care of yourself, Leri," Clarias said before turning around and leaving Leri where he was, she slipped ten dollars into the boy's hand quickly.
"Miss!" Leri shouted in surprise, seeing Clarias getting away.
Clarias waved her hand with a big smile. "See you!"
Leri looked at Clarias, who was getting away with a faint smile on his lips. It's fun to talk to strangers even though he feels something strange about the girl's figure, but try to ignore Leri.
After successfully getting into the train, Clarias saw Leri's figure from the window selling his mineral water again. "It's great to talk to humans," said Clarias, "fortunately he's not part of my clan, if only he were a werewolf, my father and mother would know my whereabouts again," Clarias muttered.
According to Clarias, living as a werewolf nation is not fun. Especially if you are part of a werewolf family known to other werewolves, unfortunately, Clarias is the child of the king and queen of Hurwolf.
Clarias's father is famous among werewolves because he led the war against the Lycans. The werewolves managed to win the war so that until now, Clarias' father has become one of the most respected by their nation.
The only advantage for Clarias was that none of the werewolf races knew her. She was indeed born as the only child of her parents. Still, no werewolf nation had ever seen her face for years because Clarias was forbidden to leave the palace by her parents.
That's why no one recognized Clarias when she ran away from home like this. Still, her parents would find her thanks to the necklace that Clarias was wearing. A necklace that is both an inheritance and a tracking device for the Hurwolf nation.
Clarias didn't know why her parents always wanted to hide her from the outside world. Clarias did everything they said for years, but as she grew older, she grew fed up with this fuzzy agenda that kept happening repeatedly.
Even though Clarias knew that she would be caught in the end, she repeated it because meeting the outside world was fun for Clarias. One way is to talk to humans like Leri earlier. Clarias was not only bestowed with being born as the child of the king and queen of Hurwolf, but in fact, she was also born with a special talent that other werewolves rarely had.
She can see the future of others.
And after being kept away from the outside world for decades, her parents are now asking Clarias to marry an Alpha they have chosen. Of course, Clarias refused, she wanted freedom. Even if she has to marry and mate with an Alpha, Clarias wants to do it with a mate she truly loves, and she doesn't want to have to stay behind her parents and do what they ask.
Because of that, this blurry agenda happened as a rebellion that Clarias blatantly carried out for her parents.
"If only I was born as an ordinary human, maybe my life would not be as complicated as this," Clarias said quietly while looking at the scenery from the window when the train started moving.
"Living as an ordinary human is also not as easy as you imagine, Miss Clarias."
Clarias turned her head quickly and was surprised to find a girl she knew well beside her carriage seat. She didn't even know how long she had been sitting there.
“Delta, how did you get here?!” Clarias exclaimed in surprise.
Delta smiled. "I've been around you ever since you left the palace, Miss Clarias."
