THE PLAYER GETS PLAYED

Chapter One: How it all begins. Hazel's Pov- Sunday. 3:00pm. I got up from the palor chair, stretched, looked around and yawned. I looked at my sitting room. It was a mess. There were tissues and bottles of drinks on the floor. What happened? Jesus my head hurts like hell. I kicked the drinks aside and headed to the kitchen to make coffee. While waiting for it I tried to remember what happened and why my head hurts this much. Failing to, I headed to the chair I slept on and dug out my phone. The first thing I looked at was my face. Which was awful. Dried mascara was everywhere along with smudged lipstick. I unlocked my phone and saw 30+ missed calls from my best friend. I quickly called her back. Me: Alexi? What happened? I just woke up and I'm seeing 30 missed calls. Did something happen? Alexi: Babes?! Are you alright?! When it happened yesterday you ran out and I looked for you everywhere... Where are you? Where did you go? I was soo worried. Where are you right now?! Me: Woah woah woah what happened? What are you talking about? What happened last night? Alexi: Do you really not remember? Did you drink? Where the hell are you?! Me: Okay, just tell me what happened? Alexi: Babes I think you need to sit first. First tell me, where are you? Me: I'm home. Alexi just tell me what the hell happened. Alexi: I think you should check our class group. And you'll know everything. I'm on my way. Don't do anything I wouldn't do. Which is well… everything you would normally do. She said as the line disconnected. I held my breath as I opened my w******p and checked the class group. I saw all the discussions but couldn't get a thing of what was happening. Until I saw the videos. My stomach dropped instantly. I heard the door open but I was too crushed and weak to move and check who it was. Although the only person who had the keys to my door now was Alexi James, my best friend. “Babes? Babes where you at?” She yelled from the door. I heard the coat rack move meaning she just hung her coat. “I'm in the living room!” I yelled back. I heard her kicking her shoes and throwing the key on the table. I turned my head slightly to see her entering the palor. She looked around, frowned and held her hand up to her nose, making weird faces. “Oh my God this place smells so awful. Just between last night and now you've turned this place to a mess. Jesus! I get yesterday was messed up but at least… Haze you're not a kid okay?” “What does this have to do with being a kid?” I asked, choking on a sob. “I get that it was all payback but what happened was years ago. Why did he have to hold on to it and retaliate?” I broke down again. “Babes, babes chill… shhhh… it's okay… breathe, breathe… okay I need you to relax.” She came over hugging and rocking me. “Look at how much of a mess you are. It's gonna be fine, okay? We just need to forget him. That’s all. When you go to work tomorrow, just act chill and unbothered. At least you're not too deep in.” She paused, looked at me, and sighed. “And besides, the girls wouldn’t say a thing. Not unless they want a beating from me. We aren't even going to see them till God knows when. So just forget about everything.” I looked at her then looked away before crying more. “Yeah… I guess I should resign and—” “—Resign?!!!” She yelled and stared at me wide-eyed. “Yes,” I replied, taking a shaky breath. “I can’t do it. I can't go to work and look at him everyday without feeling pathetic. He literally told everyone there that he never liked me from the start. He kissed that lady in front of them and it—” “Wait babes, hold on, I'm so confused right now. What does him telling everyone he doesn't like you or kissing that girl have to do with anything? Wait! Do you… do you… don't tell me… Hazel. Do you love him?” “Of course I love him! I love him so much. So how do you expect me to go to work and face anyone? That Rosa girl would have spread the news at the entire company by now. And all the employees knew I was dating Xander. Xander… how do I face him? He said he never loved me.” I said crying again. Alexi just stared at me for a moment like her brain needed buffering time. “Babes… I dunno what to say.” She said, continuing to rock me. I laughed bitterly through the tears. “So you see my situation? I guess this was how he must've felt. This is my karma. He loved me and I didn't love him and now I love him and he doesn't love me.” Alexi sighed and got up from the couch. She looked at me then at the whole palor. “Okay, we will figure everything out later. Right now, you need to get up, stop sulking and clean this place up.” “Nooooo! Let me sulk in peace.” I said, turning to place my head on my pillow when she dragged me. “When I say get up, I mean get up. Alright let's get this place cleaned up and go bath.” “Urghhhhh. Do I have to…” I whined. “Yes you do. And you will.” She headed to the kitchen and grabbed a garbage bag. We started cleaning. While cleaning she muttered, “If I leave you for 48 hours you’ll probably start growing mushrooms on this floor.” “Please shut up,” I sniffed. “You shut up,” she shot back. When we were done, we ordered takeout. Okay… y'all must be wondering why all the tears, drama and whatever. I will tell you in some seconds. Most of what happened can be erm… understood from tiny information from above. Okay get ready, this is a story about a player who got played. And the main character is yours truly. Enjoy!
