Chiara's POV I am up early, mainly because I haven’t slept. I dread the light of the day, because I know that I’m going to learn something abhorrent. I have spent a lifetime trying to make my father proud, or perhaps it was just to make him notice me from across the ocean. For all of my education in the UK, he hadn’t attended any of my key moments. I had learnt to play the cello, so that I could tell him I would be playing in the school concert, but he only wished me good luck. In my teens, I had finished top in every one of my classes, he had sent me some money, and a ‘well done’ card. When I completed university with a first class honors, he apologised for not being able to come to the graduation.
