I am blushing like crazy again as Lee leads me up the stairs to his room. As I walk in I am greeted with the intense scent of pine and so much green I feel like I am outside. His room has a giant bed in the center with Sage green sheets and pillow cases with a dark green comforter on top. Off to the side is a desk with green LEDs and a computer where the home screen is his family somewhere in what must be Ireland. The furniture is all a rich dark wood that looks alive still. He lets go of my hand and rubs his neck.
“I can sleep on the floor if you want?” He posits.
“No it’s fine I don’t mind sharing.” I say and there is so much awkwardness in this one room that you could cut it with a knife. He heads to the closet and starts pulling out clothes to sleep in and makes it way to his bathroom to get changed while he does that I note my suitcase was moved in here and I start looking through and realize that I didn’t really pack anything attractive to wear to bed. I hear him in the bathroom and throw my clothes around looking for something that is both comfortable and attractive and settle on some gray cotton shorts and a baggy T-shirt I own that I got my from Walmart. He steps out of the bathroom and I get to see him shirtless for the first time. Holy Crap. He is lean and heavily freckled and just wow. I take in all his knotwork and how it goes along his muscles so naturally. My eyes following a new path of knots every time.
“Well I’m flattered” He says still red as ever and I realize I have just been staring at him this whole time I jump up and make my way into the bathroom. I hear him in his bedroom as he shuts the door and turns his TV on. I quickly get into the clothes I have picked out and take a moment to wash my face in his sink just in case I am covered in any dirt or mud from our excursion. I also take out my braided pig tails because I like to let m hair breathe at night. I open the door and see him laying on his back with one hand behind his head and the other laying lazily across his stomach. His grey sweatpants grab my attention now as he adjusts himself when he sees me.
“Celeste you’re beautiful” He says and he looks so gobsmacked I have to believe him. I don’t think I have stopped blushing since I stepped into the room at this point. I nervously make my way over to bed after mumbling a “thank you” He is laying directly in the middle so I take a spot on one side of him and sit.
“What do you want to watch?”
“You watch stuff to fall asleep?” I ask.
“Oh please tell me you are not one of those psychos that can only sleep in silence”
“What if I was?” I say challenging him.
“Then we would know I was not your true mate” He reaches out to touch my arm. “Do you want to come a little closer?” I nod and scoot in. He takes some initiative and gets me to lat down on his arm. I can feel his heart beating so I know that was no easy feat. I watch as he flips through the animated movies on Netflix.
“Do you guys only watch one type of movie?” I ask raising my eyebrow.
“Maybe we do, but, like it’s a broad genre” He says with a laugh.
“Really cause all you have shown me is little kid’s movies” He mocks offense as he replies.
“Actually all we have shown you has been masterpieces that were underappreciated in their time.”
“Probably because their target audience isn’t potty trained” I retort.
“I have half a mind to kick you out this other bed!” He says laughing.
“Really what does the other half of your brain say?”
“It says ‘wow she fits perfect in my arms’”
“Yeah you are pretty comfortable.” I say and nestle closer despite myself.
“Well I am putting Over the Hedge on and you can watch and learn true cinema” I only make it like 15 minutes in to the movie before I am out like a light. I must be more tired than I thought. I wake up a few hours later in the middle of the night and find that Lee has made himself the big spoon. I smile contently and snuggle back closer to him. I realize as I settle that neither of us got under the blanket before going to bed last night but, he has kept me the perfect temperature all night. The electricity is still there but more like a current traveling through my body slowly than a sharp shock. It lulls me back to sleep while my last fading thought are of the fresh hell that is coming tomorrow.
