Sarah Collins was confused. Confused about what she was feeling and even more confused about why she was having such feelings in the first place. She was not one given to whimsical, imaginative thoughts about anything. She was a strong, confident woman, and knew she was one of only a very few women in the job who held positions of authority such as she held.
Although the imbalance of women to men in such positions was disproportionate, it was getting better, and Sarah also knew she never got to where she now was by being impulsive and erratic; she had to compete with her male counterparts and overcome the “old boy” prejudices that sadly persisted in some areas of the job.
