Chapter 14

Sebastian POV I didn’t like that Lucian brought in the parents. We all agreed the moment we made this selection, we’d be the ones to figure it out. The following day, I didn’t wait for the guys to head to the cafeteria. I was starving. I hadn’t slept well last night. I was guessing it was down to the decisions Lucian had finally taken with regards to Aria. Heather’s words kept rolling around in my head. We didn’t know what made Aria tick, and the truth was, I doubted we ever would. That kind of knowledge on a person took time. For me, it had taken me eighteen years to get to know Lucian, Elliot, and Rowan, and there were times I wasn’t even sure I knew them. I entered the cafeteria and saw Aria was already there. She had a book open beside her tray and was eating what looked like oatmeal. Healthy eating wasn’t my thing. I opted for a nice stack of waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, and maple syrup. The cashier scanned my card, and I made my way over to Aria’s table. She looked up, spoon in her mouth, and sighed. “Good morning,” I said. “Morning.” She went back to her book. “What are you eating?” “Oatmeal.” “Is that some kind of vegan s**t you’re on?” She sighed. “You know my food label. Great.” “How can you not eat meat?” “I see we’re going to be having that conversation. How original.” She closed the book and ate another spoonful of oatmeal. I expected her to shiver or something. It looked like bad vomit. “I just don’t want to eat meat.” “Why not?” “My reasons are my own.” I held up a piece of bacon. “And this doesn’t tempt you in the slightest?” “No, it stinks and not in a good way. Do we have to talk about this?” “I’m just curious?” “Why? I’m not a skinny vegan?” “No, just the whole veggie eating thing.” She rolled her eyes. “Try not to think too hard and just accept it.” “And you like food?” “I love it.” She took another scoop of oatmeal. “Why are you on your own?” “You think I can’t do anything on my own?” “The Saintly Devils are rarely seen alone. I figured you gained power through each other.” “Ah, the whole power trick.” She shrugged. “I don’t know.” “We can work independently, if that’s what you’re curious about. If it will make this process easier, you can also date us one at a time. We won’t bite.” “No thank you.” “What do you have to lose?” “I don’t want to date you or any of the guys.” “I find that a little hard to believe,” I said. “You’re kidding, right? Wow, I never realized what an ego you have.” “If it makes you feel better, it is entirely justified.” “I will have to consult Heather for the rumor mill surrounding you.” “You don’t want to find out on your own?” “No, thank you.” She pushed some hair out of her face and glanced around the cafeteria. “Have you seen Heather?” “Nope.” The lie slipped out easily. She didn’t need to know we pretty much threatened her last night. “Tell me about yourself.” Aria sighed. “Why?” “I’d like to know more about you.” “I don’t want to talk about me.” “Why not?” “It makes me uncomfortable.” “Surely it can’t all be that bad.” I wanted to get to know this girl. She stopped looking around. Her oatmeal finished, she pushed the tray a little away from her, putting her hands flat on the table. “What do you want to know?” “Why won’t you cut your hair?” I asked. “Because I like it long. Next question.” “No, answer them truthfully.” “Why did you pick me for this?” she asked. “Answer my question, and I will answer yours.” She stared at me and I looked right back at her. The waffles were good, and I didn’t avert my gaze as I ate. Aria was the first to look away. “I … I knew someone. They were important to me. My hair brings back those memories, and taking it off, well, I feel I’ll lose those memories.” She managed to answer my question being as vague as possible. This irritated me but I also marveled at how she worked. She gave without giving at all. Interesting. “Because I want to f**k you,” I said. It wasn’t the whole truth, but it was certainly a part of it. I hadn’t noticed Aria before, but I did now. I was surprised in myself for not seeing the real her before. Now I just felt like a giant asshole for not really seeing her. I reckoned I could have totally f****d her years ago. All those curves belonged to me, to us. I couldn’t wait to finally get my hands on her. She would be a f*****g dream to finally claim. Of course, we had to get her on board. I wasn’t into r**e. I wanted Aria wet and willing. But that didn’t mean I couldn’t play as well. “I answered you and you lied to me.” “Nothing I said was a lie.” “I don’t have time for these games.” She stood up, swiping her tray, and left the cafeteria. There weren’t many students around, and I put the last of my food in my mouth, chewing like crazy as I followed her out. I knew where she was going, and I grabbed her hand, shoving her against a darkened alcove that would hide us both away. If someone passed, they would only assume we were talking. “I’m not lying.” “All of this is a big fat lie. I’m not an i***t. I don’t know why you’re all doing this, but I know there is a reason for it.” I grabbed her hand and pressed it against my aching c**k. “Do you feel that?” I was hard, but I knew I could get harder. I was physically restraining my need here. I was being a very good boy and she just had to see it. She pulled her hand away. “It’s not going to change, Aria. I was speaking the truth. You’re the one evading. Not me. I want to f**k you, and belonging to us, nothing is off-limits. You can be ours. Think about it. Four guys. We could teach you what you’ve been missing.” We all knew she was a virgin, and to be honest, I wasn’t interested in popping her cherry. I was going to leave that little detail to Lucian. It was part of the rules anyway. As the leader, he was the one who got to taste her first. To feel that cherry pop beneath the pressure of his c**k. We just all had to be there to witness it. She pulled her hand away. “No. I don’t want this. I … no.” This time, I let her go as she slid out from beneath me. I wanted to tempt her. To lure her in before s**t got serious, and instead, all I’d done was send her running. Fuck! I ran my fingers through my hair and headed back to the quad. Elliot, Lucian, and Rowan sat there as I made my way over to them. They each had a different breakfast. Lucian had toast. Elliot had the oatmeal, and Rowan had a combination of oatmeal, toast, and waffles. He had a bigger appetite than I did. “You left early,” Lucian said. “I wanted to get here earlier.” “Did having her all to yourself help?” Elliot asked. I took a seat and shook my head. “No.” “Did you make it worse?” Lucian asked. “How could it get any worse?” Rowan laughed and we all turned to glare at him. “What? Do you think this isn’t funny? Come on, did any of us see this being a struggle? I know I didn’t. I figured Aria would be so f*****g pleased that someone noticed her, she’d be putty in our hands. This was supposed to be a f*****g cakewalk. Not like this.” I had to agree with Rowan. I’d never had to work for p***y before. From the moment I started to get boners, my dad had decided it was my time to be a man. I was fifteen when I slept with my first woman. It was a babysitter. She’d only been a couple of years older than me, and it had to have been the worst time of my life. It was over way too fast, but I’d gotten a hell of a lot better since then. Now I liked to make girls beg me for it. There was nothing quite so exhilarating than having a woman submit to me. I’d even tasted a few of the female faculty as well. Now they were a fine piece of ass to have bouncing on my d**k. Before senior year, any teacher who thought they could reprimand me, I’d make it my mission to seduce them. It was nice to see them falter in an attempt to reprimand me after I’d been balls deep inside them. I had to get my entertainment somewhere. Pulled out of my thoughts, I spotted Heather making her way toward us. She had an apple in her hand as she took a seat at our table. She held her bag to her like a lifeline. It wasn’t going to save her, and it wasn’t like we were going to maim her. “Do you have an answer for us?” Lucian asked. “What do you want me to do?” “First, you tell us what your decision is.” Heather took a deep breath and leaned forward. “Do you intend to harm her? Break her? Humiliate her in some way?” “No. Have you heard of anyone doing that in previous selections?” Rowan asked. “I’m not asking about previous ones. I’m talking about this one. None of the others matter. The only person who does is Aria. Will you hurt her?” “No,” Lucian said. “You have to promise me.” Heather pointed around her. “Yeah, I do,” Lucian said. She laughed. “I guess someone like you would think that.” “This is your future, Heather. Your life.” “No. What you don’t get is I’ve met a whole lot of people. I know a good person when I see it. Aria is an amazing person. I have never met anyone like her. She was born with a silver spoon and yet, she is nothing like any of you. She is kind and sweet, considerate.” “That doesn’t sound like the girl who keeps on turning us down,” I said. “You don’t know her. None of you do. You don’t know her fears. Her pain. What she has to deal with. All you care about is that prize you get once this is done.” She shook her head. “Look, Aria is … she has trouble with her parents, okay? She is doing everything they want her to do within reason. Her plan is not to stick around with them. I agree to help in any way I can because I believe Aria is going to need a friend. I don’t trust any of you, and she already has to be here against her wishes.” “She was in a public school,” I said. “Why the f**k would she want to be there?” I was getting angrier by the second, and it had nothing to do with Heather and everything to do with the little tidbit of information we’d just been given. “She loved it there. If you’re really serious in doing all of this for Aria, then try to find out everything you can about a nanny named Drew.” Heather got to her feet and left. “How is that supposed to help?” Rowan asked. “Simple. We find out what this Drew meant to her, and we discover what makes Aria tick. We all know what nannies are like.” “Mine f****d my dad,” I said. “Did anyone realize in that short little time that we f****d up?” “You mean about the parents?” Elliot asked. “Yep.” “Hell, yeah, I heard it,” Rowan said. Lucian nodded. The moment her parents got involved, we were f****d.
