Elliot POV
Lucian had tried to call his dad to make sure he didn’t talk to her parents, but it would seem we were late. Aria’s parents were already aware of the situation and the last we heard from Heather at lunchtime, there was a dinner date scheduled for Friday.
Crap.
We had exactly three and a half days to make Aria agreeable, and the fact she was pissed at Heather’s transfer didn’t look good.
She ignored us.
Considering we completely surrounded her, well, that just wasn’t good.
She treated us as if we weren’t there.
I wanted to touch her.
To make her react.
But she just … blanked us.
After the end of Wednesday, giving us two days, I had enough.
Aria packed up her bag as everyone left the room. When she made to leave, I grabbed her arm, stopping her from escaping.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“You can’t ignore us forever,” I said.
Like the good little sheep they were, everyone left the room without a word, including the teacher. The door was closed, giving us privacy.
“Is there not anyone here who will stand up against you?” she asked.
“Come on, Aria. You know how this works,” I said.
Lucian moved in close behind her as Rowan and Sebastian took up her sides. We surrounded her.
Aria closed her eyes, and I noticed her hands clenched into hard fists.
What was she thinking about?
“Back off,” she said.
None of us did.
“I don’t like this.”
“We’re not going to hurt you,” Lucian said.
“You would have heard if r**e was our thing,” Rowan said. “News flash, it really isn’t. We don’t like to force a woman.”
Aria chuckled.
“You do realize how stupid that sounds, right?”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Rowan asked.
“You don’t like to force a woman, and yet I’ve told you guys no and you’re insistent on not listening. Double standard.”
“None of us have touched you when you didn’t want it,” Lucian said.
The tips of his fingers trailed down her arms and she flinched away.
This woman was proving to be a bigger challenge than I ever realized.
“I want you to get Heather back,” she said.
“We don’t have control over that,” Lucian said.
“Don’t lie. I know you guys had something to do with this. There is no way she can go from being in my classes to having to take different ones.”
She folded her arms, and her glares were cute.
I got the scent of vanilla and I’d come to realize it was the fragrance she used. I was becoming a little addicted to the smell.
“We don’t rule everything in this school,” Lucian said. “Have you thought about talking to her?”
“I did. She had nothing to do with the transfer, and the principal gave her a lame excuse that it was a much better fit for her to be somewhere else.”
She shook her head.
“Why can’t you guys just leave me alone? I’ve done nothing to you and Heather doesn’t deserve this.”
We keep on f*****g it up when it comes to Aria. I was drawing a blank on how to get to her. We all knew her parents were going to fix this, but I had a feeling she’d hate us afterward.
“We had nothing to do with it,” Lucian said.
The lies were mounting up.
“Bullshit. I can’t be done with this. I’ve got to get to class.”
None of us let her pass.
“What are you doing?”
“Why don’t you give us a chance?” Lucian asked.
“Because I don’t want to. Why don’t you go and screw every other girl in school? This one is not buying what you’re selling.”
She took a step forward until she was pretty much touching Lucian and still, he didn’t move.
“I’m not afraid of you.”
“It’s not the plan to make you afraid.”
“No, it’s your plan to turn me into your little b***h. It’s not going to happen, Lucian. Do you want a knee to the balls?” she asked.
I couldn’t help but smirk. I loved her fire.
It was rare for me to find a girl this entertaining. It was a shame that in a matter of days, it was all going to change.
Lucian hesitated for a second and then moved out of the way. Aria left the room without looking back.
“She is a pain in the ass,” Lucian said.
“Yeah, well I think it’s time we counted our blessings. We know it’s all going to change come Friday,” I said.
We left the school. The guys headed to the dorm while I took off to sit outside the library. At first, I just stared at the building, not really caring about going inside. This was where Aria went. Heather would be inside too.
A couple of girls wearing really low skirts passed. One of them called my name while the other waved. I ignored them.
Last year, I would’ve taken them both back to the dorm and enjoyed them both, but that wasn’t a luxury anymore.
Running a hand down my face, I had to wonder about my current predicament. I liked easy p***y. Aria was anything but easy.
When it started to rain, I had no choice but to escape the wet by going inside the library. The scent of books assailed me. I wasn’t a fan of the books. I preferred the empty pages of an art pad compared to the droning words of an author. Lucian was the reader of the four of us.
I spotted Heather and Aria immediately. They were surrounded by books and writing down into a notepad. Every now and then, Aria asked a question and Heather grabbed a book, pointing it out.
Where I stood, neither of them could see me.
Aria had let her hair down, and the small notepad I kept in my back pocket beckoned me. Without waiting, I pulled it out, took the pencil attached to the side, and began to sketch. Aria was incredibly beautiful. She never wore any makeup. A completely natural beauty. She rubbed at her temple as she read through whatever book she was looking at.
Heather said something, to which she laughed, and I had to say, with the little show of teeth, the slight bite against her bottom lip, my d**k was hard as f*****g rock for a single taste of her.
I was horny, no doubt about it.
It was strange, even though I’d seen those girls pass me and I could have both of them with a single click of my fingers, there was no real temptation there.
I’d started this year out with a sense of boredom. Aria had blown my expectations completely apart with how she refused to submit to us. Touching her was becoming an addiction. Simply grabbing her arm today felt like an intimate act, and the truth was it was a simple arm grab.
My quick sketch didn’t capture her well. After pulling out my cell phone, I took several photos from different angles and when I noticed Heather had left, I put my cell phone away and moved around the library, trying to find her.
She was in the science section, running her fingers along the length of the books, humming to herself.
“Who is Drew?” I asked.
Heather gasped, whirling around, hand to her heart.
“You scared me.”
“Clearly. Who is he?”
“I gave you a name.”
“Yeah, is it an ex?”
Heather sighed and shook her head.
“Drew is a she.”
“Do you think I’ve got all day to go running around chasing names?”
She rolled her eyes.
“You can’t even do any homework.”
I moved in close so there was no space between us. Heather looked uncomfortable. Good.
“Why would I do that when I can get you to tell me what I need to know?”
“I’m not afraid of you.”
“No? But are you afraid of what I can do?” I asked. “I wonder how far you’d let me go with Aria before you realize I can make her life miserable or good.”
“Don’t blackmail me.”
“Don’t test me. You have power here, Heather. Do you want me to treat your friend well?”
She licked her lips, and I knew I was making her nervous.
“You can’t do this. Aria won’t be easily fooled by all of you.”
“No, but I can also make you go away,” I said. “If you think I’m joking, look at your schedule.”
“If Aria ever finds out about this, she’ll hate you all.”
“She already hates us. You’re just cutting out the middle man. Now tell me who Drew is.”
I could get this information easily. The only problem we had was the potential paper trail it would cause, which alone would bring a headache none of us wanted.
“I’m not going to tell you everything. Drew was a she and she was Aria’s one and only nanny. That’s all I’m giving you.”
“Last name?”
“I don’t have it. Aria never said anything.”
I nodded.
“Can I go?”
“Think about what I said. This stays between the two of us.”
She gave me a quick jerk of the head and then I allowed her to leave.
The nanny. The hired help. So, what was the connection between Aria and Drew?
