With the brochure in hand, we started asking around, saying we wanted to invest, that we were interested in "multiplying our money quickly." It didn't take long for someone to give us the address of the so-called investment platform. The place was called "Rich Dreams." Just from the name, you could smell a scam from a mile away, but maybe that was just my experience talking. I knew well how these schemes worked, and they always targeted those who had little and dreamed of a lot.
We arrived at a small but well-organized commercial office. The walls were white, decorated with generic landscape paintings and motivational quotes. Behind a glass desk was a man in a cheap but well-ironed suit, with a smile so rehearsed it was almost comical.
