Jordan pov
We sit down in the backlounge the next day, I think it's somewhere around 1 pm, but I can be totally wrong. Unfortunately I didn't had a time to ask Briar about what I saw yesterday. As we left I saw some weird stuff laying in that room. It's not a big room, not more than a bunk, a table, some closets and a chair. Spread over the bed and on the table laid several little books and papers and something that looked a lot like money. But the weirdest thing, is that covert by some papers, there laid something that looked like a gun on the table.
Of course Briar has nothing to do with this, but she probably knows more about it and I doubt if she'll start about it when she explains everything.
It's weird sitting here again. Also when Briar was away, we never sat with all seven here. I almost forgot how small it actually is here, we all sit super close to each other. Not that it would be much different if there was more space. Briar and Myles haven't been more than a meter apart from each other since this night.
I look around as we wait for Lamar. Briar and Myles sit again close to each other while Briar plays with Myles' hand. I'm pretty sure everything is alright again Brittany and Trevor as they also sit closer than needed. What do I say, that they sit beside each other already proves that everything is more than okay between them. Between Isaac and Victoria nothing changed, they still sit as far from each other as possible and try to avoid each other.
"So," Lamar says as he sits down, "what do you have to explain?" he looks at Briar. She looks up and let her fingers intertwine with Myles'. "Well," she starts, "I walked away mad and confused and extremely sad, but soon I got cold and the sky looked ominous, so I walked back to the bus. I just couldn't handle it to see you all and didn't know ehh." All of the sudden she looks down really nervous and timid. "I ehh," she says again, "I'm sorry I can't say this."
"That's okay," Victoria says patiently and smiles. Briar looks up at Victoria and smiles back. "So I found out that he has a huge food stock in his room," Briar continues, "and I also found some weird books and papers. After a few days I got curious about what would be in those books so I started reading them. And that's what I've been doing the last two days I think."
"What was in those books?" Trevor asks as Briar doesn't continue. "He was a smuggler. He used this bus to smuggle stuff from Toronto to the west of the country," she explains. "What the hell," Victoria says confused. "Those books were kind of diaries of his earlier life," Briar continues, "he was tourbus driver, and not only our, he did this for years and he basically takes all his stuff with him everywhere he goes. That's why there's also like a ton of money in this bus, and why he took this road not through the villages. He also mentioned that there was something wrong with his heart, but he couldn't stay on one place or something because he was pretty wanted by other smugglers since he's so sneaky." Briar sighs deeply. "I screamed yesterday because I read that he destroyed the tracker so nobody will ever be able to find the bus if he would die."
"Wait what?!" Brittany says confused, "who the hell is that freak?!" I can't move and start to breathe heavily. "So unless we find our way back," Lamar concludes, "we're not going to see any other people ever again?" "Basically what he said," Briar says and looks down.
Trevor pov
"Guys," I say trying to sound positive. Someone has to stay a little positive in this black hole. "We are going to figure thing out," I say clearly. "Period," I add. "How?" Victoria asks. "I don't care," I say, "as long as we stay together and stay positive we'll figure something out." "If we can just survive until the snow is gone we can maybe fix the bus," Myles says. "Thank you Myles," I say thankful, "didn't expect that from you, but love your way of thinking."
Myles nods thankful. "That's crazy," Jordan says, "how are we going to manage to stay alive that long." "We can make fire," I say, "we can maybe make a fishing rod or something, and with the snow we've water to drink enough." Victoria sighs. "Come on guys," Myles says, "a little more positive." "And how are we going to survive this cold weather?" Victoria asks, "I don't know how long I can handle this cold weather." "We can always just do the 'pinguïn' right Trittany," Lamar jokes.
Thanks man. Thank you very much for saying that. How to ruin it for me. Who knows what Brittany is going to do now Lamar said that. Surprisingly Brittany doesn't move and I extend my arm around her back so she isn't even able to move.
"Finally?" Jordan asks questioning. "Probably," Lamar says. The rest probably doesn't know and is only guessing. Brittany sighs. "Yes," she says, "it is." She grabs my hand. Wow, I didn't see that coming. I liked it. "Well that was ehh expected," Myles says. "Since when?" Briar asks.
"Few days ago," I say. Then Brittany stands up. "Trevor," she says suddenly sounding serious, "can I talk to you for a second alone?" "Yea sure," I say. I have no idea what it can be. Isaac whistles. "With talking I mean talking," she says defensive, "like actually forming words."
"You sure?" Jordan asks Brittany confused like she knows what Brittany wants to say. "Yes," Brittany says clearly. "You know what I said right?" Jordan asks. "Yes," Brittany says. "Do you know more?" Jordan asks. "No," Brittany says, "but I think it's important for him to know. I was there, you not." "True that," Jordan says and smiles, "don't make a big deal of it." "I'll try," I say and smile.
I think it's pretty funny how they just had a full conversation and everyone was listening and nobody had any idea where it was about. To be honest I also don't know but I'm curious to know. What can it ever be? It can't be that bad, we're in the middle nowhere.
