Chapter 3

What on earth is going on here? We really couldn't have just climbed on a plane and end up back in ny home town! "Elsine?" My mother's worried voice reached my ears. "Mom we're at Mid-day Motel." I choked, walking backwards until I reached the beds edge and sat down. "Don't you worry my dear, dad is on his way now." my mom hurriedly assured me as she also screamed for my dad to hurry up. "I'll see you now than mom, love you." I whispered as I ended the call. "What's wrong?" Robin cooed as she sat up. "What did we do last night Rob? Why are we here?" I whimpered, not taking my eyes of the window. "We were supposed to kidnap that ex of yours last night but you passed out in the taxi, so I got him to bring us here. We still have a few minutes before the engagement party so that is good." she smiled up at me, almost like a child wanting to be acknowledged for their good dead. "Rob..." My phone rang just as I was about to give her a piece of this pounding head of mine, letting out a groan I answered the phone when a scream pierced my ears. "Hello?" "Els where are you?" Andrew whispered just as the sound of something exploded erupted through the phone. "I woke up in my home town, what is going on that side?" "Who got you to go back home?" he laughed over the phone "Andrew what is going on your side?!" "We had some grave robbers last night, upside is that they couldn't get through the gates. Downside we lost two of the night guards which is causing the commotion outside now." he sighed over the phone "Who were they?" "No idea, they didn't leave any clues Ela..." "Yes?" "They killed the everyone that worked during the night." "What!" My body turned ice-cold, Robin pushes herself up and moved closer to me. "There is a huge commotion this side, Emily is missing and the boss is not happy. Tell me you still have that key with you Els." I looked down to see the key I gave him dangling from my key chain, how did it get here with me. I'm pretty sure I gave it to him to hold on to. " Els? " " Yes, sorry, don't you have the key? I gave it to you yesterday. " I have no idea why I lied and the look Robin gave me made me feel guilty but I had no idea why it felt like I had to lie, something just kept telling me that I had to keep quiet " Alright....but I don't have it." he mumbled, sounding defeated "Listen, I'll have..." I threw the phone to the wall when a screech sound came through, Robin pulled me to the other side as we looked at the phone. "Rob what is the date today?" I whispered, not taking my eyes from the phone. "Love my watch says it's already Friday." she mumbled "We went out on Sunday correct?" "Yes?" "How did we lose a week?" I sighed standing up and walking towards my broken phone. "We don't believe in myths...right Els?" she whispered, following close behind me. "I don't know what happen Rob, I'm the superstitious one and this is not even making sense to me. Something seems amiss and what I'm more worried about except for the deaths is how we got here without our passports or bags." I mumbled, picking up the phone and giving it to Rob. "Don't forget about that thing around your neck, it wasn't there when we went out clubbing." she sighed, leaning closer to look at the necklace. "What I think we should do now is just going to my parents and get cleaned, we'll have to figure out a way to get back and see how everyone is doing. I can't bring this problem home." I mumbled the last sentence when a car horn broke the silence "Think about it this way, there is no way that they can track us. You knew what is meant when you took that job." She went to sit down on the bed, combing her fingers through her hair. "I never planned it would get out of hand so badly, I have been so cautious and just because of some wedding invitation I screwed up." I hissed, slamming my fist into the wall. "Talking about invitations, wouldn't it be the dinner tonight?" she giggled "We are not going to that dinner, we're going to find a way back and fix this stupid mess." I grumbled when I notice my dads car coming into the parking lot. "I should get you drunk again." she moaned falling back "That's not going to happen...never again." I promised to myself I just wished that at that moment that I would have notice more the smile she had on her lips and how her eyes danced with humor.
