I rubbed my eyes in hopes of making the sleep in them vanish. But that wasn't working. Around me, I could hear half the student body either yawning or snoring and the rest either flirting or making out. But Mrs. Arnold just didn't take the hint. She was dragging the class on and on and on and on. As if she could miraculously make a top achiever out of these bored idiots. After an agonizing hour, the bell finally rang. I think I was the fastest one out of there because as I went by Mrs. Arnold, her red curls literally flew in the air. Stumbling out into the hallway I reminded myself that I had decided to perform a closer inspection on that new Astrophysics teacher. That hazel-eyed man had something more to just his posterior and I was so gonna find out. You see, apart from being famous for being extremely mischievous, we pixies are notorious for being far too curious. So I can't help myself when I wonder or want to know more. I hurried over to my next room and plopped down on the desk. There wasn't a single person in here yet and I was the only one sitting in. My legs bouncing up and down, I trailed my fingers over the table top and writing in glitter appeared on it. Mila ♡ Desmond My mum and dad. Grammy often told me about their love story and how cute it was but I just wish I could've had the chance to gaze in their eyes once. Just hear them laugh at my mischief once. Grab their hands once. "Beautiful." Gasping slightly, I turned my head and came face to face with Cameron himself. He eyes wandered over my face as if he was actually reading into my soul. Blinking and not wanting to give him the reaction he wanted, I straightened up. He too moved and stood up. Shoving his hands in his pockets, his mouth turned upwards into what seemed like half a smile. "Very artistic. Your parents, I assume?" I nearly raised an eyebrow but caught myself in time, letting raw shock take over my facial features instead, "How'd you know?" "A lucky guess," he shrugged. I narrowed my eyes. Liar. Not wanting to break the flow of the conversation and wanting to get some answers before being interrupted, I continued, "So, professor. Why did you mention mythical creatures in the first period? I mean, you said you liked them. Which one's your favourite?" He pushed his glasses a bit higher on the bridge of his nose before answering, "Well, they're just something I'm heavily interested in. Most people think they're not real but I beg to differ. I believe they're very real." Unblinking, I throw my next question at him, "Why do you think so?" My voice however came out weaker than I would've liked it to be. His answer was a simple smirk. His gaze burned into mine as I struggled to look for the answers I wanted. But it was frustrating. There was nothing in them. Absolutely nothing. No emotion. No desire. No weakness. Nothing. And what irked me the most was that he gazed into my eyes and looked like he could see. Everything. Our little stare off was once again broken when the door slid open and Marinna and her posey strutted in. They paused and disapprovingly took in the scene in front of them. I cleared my throat and suddenly became very interested in the wall behind Marinna's head. I knew at that moment that the three brainless, makeup dolls were going to bug me about this later. Professor Cameron smiled without missing a beat, "Welcome ladies! Have a seat." His charming and deep voice broke the trance the three of them were in and they squealed girlishly. Mental cringe. As the rest of the student body piled in, I noticed that the Professor hadn't moved from his place beside my desk. Trying not to be too vary of his strong yet empty presence next to me, I shuffled for my notebook in my book bag and maybe took longer than necessary to fumble for my pencil, strictly keeping my eyes away from him. Suddenly, I felt him kneel ever so slightly next to me yet again and his breath on my ear when he whispered, "Oh and my favourite? It's the pixies." I froze. As smooth as he is, he leisurely walked to the front of the class and planted himself in front of the teacher's desk. My hand had stopped mid-air from where I had been pulling my pencil out. Something's up. For sure. When the final bell rang, I went into the girl's bathroom and immediately locked myself in one of the stalls. The entire day, I'd been trying to come up with a way to solve this darn professor's mystery and decided to start by going through his office. The principal had awarded him with a cabin of his own with a huge desk and rotatable chair. The other teachers didn't like this one bit but I guess no one spoke up because Cameron can be quiet intimidating. I dropped the lid on the toilet seat and let myself sit in mid-air over it, my legs crossed. As much as I adjusted to this world, I never could accept the thought of these dirty toilet seats. I could easily call these the most dirtiest things on planet Earth. Plus, they stank big time. I waited for the school to empty out so I could sneak into his office and just lightly plough through his stuff. It wasn't like I was going to steal anything. I was just going to check if there were any signs of him being a pixie. Or anything else. The door to the bathroom noisily swung open and I heard the click-clacks of heels. Oh boy, I rolled my eyes. It's Mar Mar and back up. "Did you know how much this bag cost?!" A loud, shrill voice echoed. It was so loud that it nearly burst my eardrums. Yup. It's her alright. "I-i'm s-s-sorry Mari-nna," came a timid, small voice. "I di-didn't mean to spill coffee over your bag." Great. So her victim for today's with her. "Sorry?! Your sorry isn't going to fix what you've done to my $1200 bag!" She shrieked again. I bit my lip to stop myself from scoffing out loud. After a short scuffle, I heard her sinister voice yet again, "Take her to the parking lot. I'll teach her just how important Marinna's things are." I heard a loud thud, followed by the poor girl's cry of pain and then the door opened and slammed shut again. I clenched my fists as I thought about what she was going to do. She'd probably t*****e and bully the girl so much she'd eventually be too humiliated to return to school or worse, even leave town. I'd heard about a couple of students who'd dropped out after Marinna basically assaulted them and no one at this stupid school did anything about it. Not being able to take it anymore, I grabbed my bag and unbolted the stall door, shooting out in the hallway. I wasn't going to let Marinna bully another innocent soul like that. My brown hair flying behind me, I raced out into the parking lot. It wasn't hard to find the three monsters because they'd garnered a huge crowd around them, right in the middle of the parking lot. Fists clenched, I determinantly walked towards them and pushed through. Once I was at the front, I took in the horrible scene in front of me. Marinna and her birdies had the poor, scared girl grabbed by either arm and held in place by two brainless jocks from the school football team. I don't remember their names but I do remember their desperation of getting in to Marinna's pants. Her boyfriend, Will, was nowhere in sight. "After this little egg-bath, I'm sure you'll remember to drink your coffee and not let it end up on my bag." My eyes zeroed in on the big box of eggs one of the birdies had in her hands and I felt rage overtake me. But before I could say a word, a new female voice interrupted them. "That's enough Marinna." The crowd magically parted and at the end stood the girl I had an unpleasent meeting with the other day. She kinda looked cool, with her sleeveless navy blue crop top, black fitted jeans and black high-heeled pumps. Her auburn hair was open and fell halfway down her back. Though her face was calm, she had a look of pure fury in her eyes. Then, as if in a movie, she walked forward and pretty soon she was standing right infront of the devil reincarnate. Turning her face slightly towards the jocks she said, "Let her go boys. It's enough now." "Don't you dare!" Marinna screamed. "She's just using you two. The entire school knows she won't ever bang you guys," new girl smirked. "Let's not look any more pathetic than this and let the powerless girl go." The two boys looked at each other before reluctantly loosening their grip on the girl. She quickly took the opportunity to scurry away before throwing a greatful look in new girl's direction. I keep calling her new girl because I still don't know her name. The girl behind me whispered excitedly, "A confrontation between Marinna and Narissa? Haven't seen that in ages. Gosh, Marsha I'm so excited!" So I guess her name's Narissa then. I would be lying if I said I didn't feel surprised. Narissa was the first girl I had seen in this school stand up for the weak ones. Sure, she still was a bit arrogant. But that made me realize that humans actually still had some humanity left in them. Considering except for her, every other student present here was recording the whole scene instead of being of any help. Marinna narrowed her eyes, "Well, well. If it isn't little miss righteous. Save it, Nessi. This whole 'I'll save the nerds' demeanour doesn't suit you at all." Nessi's eyes flickered for a second as if something she didn't want to recall had crossed her mind. But of course, she wasn't about to back down, "Oh right. Just like how I used to treat you like the scum you are," she smirked. "Remember the water fountain?" That got her. I haven't seen Marinna this angry before. Her eyes turned to slits and I swear I saw her hair darken. My eyes fell to her hands and they were balled into fists so tight I was worried she might start bleeding any moment. The reference of 'the water fountain' even garnered a few gasps from the crowd. Okay, so everyone knows except me. When did I join here? A year ago? Six months ago? I don't even remember with the amount of times grammy made me transfer schools. Shaking my head, I turned my attention back to the two of them just in time to hear Marinna yell, "You b***h!" She grabbed an egg from the box birdie was holding and drew her hand back to fling it at Nessi. It was all so fast that even she didn't see it coming. But before the egg could leave her hand, a male hand grabbed her wrist and made her lower it. The male hand of an Abercrombie model look-alike. "Stop it Marinna." All our eyes snapped to this new comer and sure enough it was Will Fowler, Marinna's boyfriend and the hottest boy to exist in school. I noticed a visible change in Nessi because her features suddenly softened when her eyes landed on him. His gaze too softened a bit before he turned his attention back to the crazy girl he was holding. "Let go! If you truly love me, you'd let me pummel her face till it bleeds!" She screamed crazily. Will wretched her hand backwards and forcefully made her drop it to the ground, "I said STOP IT, " he nearly yelled. That's the first time I've seen him angry but I guess he's been worse because the girl behind me whispered to her friend, "This totally reminds me of the time he punched Rob for making a pass at Narissa. Man, he's still so protective of her." And then the two of them collectively did an 'aw'. He was Nessi's ex-boyfriend was news to me and the fact that he was Marinna's current boyfriend was news to her because her face hardened. She tore her gaze away from him and I saw a look of longing take over his features before he masked everything again and turned back to his crazy girlfriend who, by the way, was at the edge of screaming b****y murder. "We're leaving," he said firmly and began dragging her away. But somehow she got out of his hold and lunged straight for Nessi, who didn't see her because she had turned her attention towards finding the girl instead. Before Marinna could grab or try to hurt her though, I quickly made my move and shoved her away by the shoulders. Turning my body so that my back was to Nessi and front was to Marinna, I simply stared her down with a cool expression. Marinna looked at me wildly, "You freak! Get aside Wacky Wango!" Her screaming was annoying me to no end but before I could get any angrier and charm or vex her, Will interrupted and dragged her away. The crowd began to disperse and I felt someone tap my shoulder. It was Nessi and she had on a look of confusion, "Why would you do that?" I shrugged. Even I didn't know why I did that.
