I never understood how Shia could just easily pop to and fro between places without ever throwing up from the impact or at least feeling a bit woozy. She could just fly to a place she liked, she could just magically appear wherever she liked and still take on three guys holding weapons without even batting an eyelash. I, however, was a total different story. The minute the King stepped into the blue thing, called a portal is what I found out later, I felt intense light pierce my eyes. I had to cover them as soon as I'd felt a burst of warm air cover my entire body. It was like many fingers touching me all over. The King pulled me ahead and pretty soon all I could see was a blinding light and a sudden drastic pull on my arm. After that, I didn't even remember what happened. As soon as I felt something tugging and pushing at my body as fast as that feeling disappeared. My entire body felt like it had been thrown forward, my eyes were blinded by an annoying light that forced them to shut and my head was spinning like crazy when my feet finally felt grounded. I opened my eyes in a frenzy and felt the entire contents of my stomach rise up to my throat. I quickly let go of his hand and dived to the ground, puking out every single thing I'd eaten. It took every ounce of my woozed out energy left to empty my stomach before I felt slightly better. "You've grown weaker," the King observed. "Thanks buddy. That's exactly what I needed to hear," I stumbled as I straightened up. "You wouldn't have any water would you?" He looked at me as if I'd gone crazy, "Don't you see it?" "See what?" I gagged because the taste of vomit filled my mouth in the most disgraceful way I could think of. "That," Derek, I decided to call him that since he wasn't the King of me, pointed in the opposite direction. I looked at where he wanted me to and there was a huge river lying right there. I quickly dashed over to it and garggled my mouth and throat. The cold water vaguely had the taste of herbs and mint so I immediately felt freshened up. After I was done, I stood up. "Where are we?" I demanded. He gawked at me before shaking his head, "You poor thing. You must've really suffered hard from that punishment." He muttered. I scoffed. He was the one who gave Shia that horrible punishment without proof and now he was here taking pity over her? Without even apologizing? My eyes wandered over to my surroundings and for the first time since we'd landed, my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. We were in such a beautiful place! It was like paradise on Earth or something. For instance, from the place where we stood, I could see huge green mountains all over the place. My eyes couldn't take them all in at the first sight. I had to twist and crane my neck to actually just look at them once. Some mountains and hills weren't even all green. They were purple, some were pink. Much like cherry blossoms. A stream flowed between the big ones and joined the river that flowed beautifully between them. And there were trees and greenery in every sight. In fact, it all disappeared behind the horizon. Derek cleared his throat, "You seem surprised." "Now wouldn't I be," I muttered. "You must've missed all this alot," his tone sounded pitiful. As if he really felt guilty about what had happened. Did he find out the truth? I turned to face him, "Why are you talking like that?" I couldn't help but feel suspicious. "Like what?" He went, running a hand through his hair. "Like you're sorry-" "Well we must be going on our way then. Shall we?" He hastily cut me off. "You know the way to the palace right?" I shrugged. "Nope." He sighed and grabbed my hand, "Come on, just follow my lead." My arm tingled from where he was holding me but I allowed him to fly me through the cool air towards the palace. Flying over the city was another thing but flying over these huge and beautiful mountains was a whole other level. It was as if I was flying around in paradise. The birds were all differently coloured. Some multi, some bright, some dull. The patterns on their skins were so different and unique. They chirped greetings to the King who was currently flying me towards his palace. Pretty soon, we approach a huge open sort of building. I didn't think they'd use man made materials and they hadn't. It was a beautiful castle, with huge wall made of solid rock. It stood solely at the top of the highest mountain, a pathway leading upto it from below. It looked like it had zapped just out of a fairy tale! Derek flew in through the open archway and entered the palace. He suddenly let go of my hand and I began to wobble in panic. I still hadn't gotten used to these wings. "Aah! I'm going to fall!" I screamed, after I realized I was floating at least 10 feet above the ground. The wings uselessly fluttered behind me and in my panicky haze I forgot how to work these stupid things and felt myself falling down. "Aahh!" I screamed, pathetically shaking my arms and legs. I closed my eyes because it was too much for me to watch myself fall to my own death. A pair of strong arms went around me and I felt myself stop. I opened one eye to see Derek holding me bridal style. Up close, he looked even more beautiful and handsome. Like he was snapped out of a fairytale just like this entire place. "You've forgotten how to fly?" He asked incredulously. I nodded quickly, looking down at the distance I had been falling towards. "Haven't used these in a while so forgot how to work them." I swallowed nervously. His presence was making my heart race and my mind go dizzy. And so was this height. "Don't you have floors here?" He looked at me as if I was the most pitiful person he'd ever met and he quickly flew me down to the ground, which was made of pure marble by the way, and gently put me on my feet. I stumbled a bit but I was glad to have some solid ground beneath my feet. I would've kissed the ground had I not been trying to blend in. Once I'd stabilised myself, I took a look around. The palace had antique type furniture, which I was surprised these pixies even used, and a lot of doors. Different doors and archways. Pictures and alot of sparkles everywhere. How am I supposed to get used to this? The furniture was literally floating above the ground. And I couldn't even see wings on most of these flying, pointed creatures. And they were all dressed up like my father's lawn gnomes! "Shia? Do you not hear me?" Derek's voice interrupted my observations and I distractedly looked at him, wondering why the hell was he calling me Shia. The look of utter confusion on his face reminded me that I was supposed to Shia. "I go by Narissa now," I told him. "If you call me Shia, I can't exactly tell if it's me you want." "Why would you change your name?" He asked incredulously. I felt my face getting slightly hot, "Well, I needed to survive in the human world for so long without being caught." My tone sounded accusatory and guilt immediately took over his handsome features. "I uh- okay. I heard that Tricia passed away?" He asked, rubbing the back of his neck. I sighed. I couldn't exactly reveal she was murdered so I had to come up with a better story, "Yes. A horrible accident. Now I don't have anyone to take care of me!" I wailed. Derek got further guilt tripped and since I didn't even know where Shia lived, I pressed a little further. "Where will I go now?" "You can stay here," he quickly replied. I opened one wet eye, "Really?" "Yes, just-just stop crying. Millie, take her stuff upto the highest bed." He ordered an orange haired pixie. I frowned. What stuff? He dragged me here empty handed! It was soon clear to me what stuff though because she grabbed some bags and other stuff and then flew up to the highest floating bed. "That's yours," Derek informed. I nodded, wiping my face and carefully trying to fly up. But I failed like after six feet and felt myself falling to the ground. I closed my eyes, ready to feel immense pain once I collided with the checkered flooring but felt a pair of strong arms go around me. When I opened my eyes, I met with Derek's silver ones. The second time in about 5 minutes. At this point though, he was beginning to find my clumsiness comical. I saw him bite back a laugh as he gently flew me over to that floating bed. I couldn't even breathe with the proximity. I had to say, Male Pixies were magnificently handsome. He put me on the bed and floated beside it. I let go of the breath I didn't even know I'd been holding. The bed felt cozy but it was its distance from the ground that was making me nervous. "You seem to have forgotten how to fly at all," he mused. I huffed, "Like I said, someone's wrongful punishment put me into this mess." I looked at him closely. He was the same person who gave Shia that punishment so how old would he be? "How old are you?" I blurted out before I could stop myself. He didn't seem to mind though, "567 years." I nearly choked. Catching myself in time, I managed to squeeze out, "Great. Long live the King." He shrugged, "Do you want me to put a floor beneath your bed?" I waved my hand, "Nah. I'll be fine." Hopefully. A blue baby pixie flew upto him right at that time, "Your Highness. Time for the Royal Court." Derek nodded and looked at me, "You'll be fine by yourself right?" I nodded, already preparing to lie down. He flew out after telling me to make myself at home and we'll discuss further matters tomorrow morning. I dropped on my back on the mattress but felt a sharp pain because of the wings. "Ouch!" I yelled, sitting straight up again. "These stupid wings." They didn't hurt when Derek caught me twice. His hands seemed to have gone right through them. I looked around. The walls were beautifully carved with unfamiliar writings and some pretty images. A sparkle floated around the palace and it made me feel relatively calm. It was so serene and beautiful. I practiced a bit with my wings. Trying to lift myself off the bed without moving away. I fell on the bed thrice before finally picking up pace and flying over to the archway. In about 15 minutes, I got a hang of the wings. "Woooh!" I yelled, floating around in mid-air. Flying made my body feel so much lighter than before and that beautiful breeze blowing through my face and hair felt so good! "This is the best- ooff!" A beady wall-hanging smacked me right in the face and I felt myself plummet to the ground. I painfully rubbed my forehead but landed neatly on feet. My eyes fell on my reflection in the mirror. I was kind of getting sick of the blonde hair already so I used the wand to get my Auburn locks back. I contemplated on changing the outfit again when I suddenly remembered that bag of magic powder I'd brought. I held out my palm and closed my eyes, pointing the wand at it. I felt it appear on my palm like a second later and when I opened my eyes it was actually there! "Haha, got ya!" I laughed, feeling accomplished. But I still didn't know what this was though. I walked forward, too lost looking at it when I felt my foot slip over something on the ground. "Ah!" I yelled. My palm went up and the small bag of magic powder opened up and tilted over mid-air. Since my mouth was wide open when I was falling because I was screaming, I ended up swallowing all of it. "Ooof!" I landed on the ground on my butt. The powder tasted like orange and I coughed because it nearly gagged me. I felt myself swallow it before I could think about its consequences. "Uh oh," I mumbled. What if that was some sort of dangerous Pixie Dust? Worst still, what if I turned into a hideous ogre or something? My concerns were pushed aside when I heard footsteps. I looked up to see a man looking at me. He was so weird! He had a long pointy nose, pointy chin, a straight combed mustache and a goatee. His hair was a kind of short bob that fell a bit over his ears. He looked like he'd been zapped straight out of a cartoon. His arms were crossed over his chest and he didn't look happy to see me either!
