Alec
I got up this morning feeling like sh*t. My wolf kept me all night, demanding that I go find my mate and mark her right now. He was pissed and asked how I could just leave her standing there in that parking lot. What was he expecting me to do?
I've always wanted my mate, but she was human, and I was an Alpha. I needed a strong Luna. How could a human ever be strong enough to lead a wolf pack? She was beautiful though. As she stood there in that pink cropped hoodie I could see the smoothness of her stomach and I wanted nothing more than to reach out and run my hand across it. The way her curly hair fell down to her waist made me want to run my fingers through it and her eyes were so memorizing I could stare into them for days and not get bored.
The light blue and light brown seemed to complement her face so perfectly. She had plump pink lips. I wanted to kiss them right then and there. If it wasn't for Stacy's annoying voice snapping me out of it, I probably would have walked over there and did it.
Kade and I had a conversation, and we decided that we would leave her alone for now and see what happens. Speaking of Kade, I decided to go see how he did last night. I walked into his room and saw that he didn't fare any better than I did. He was standing in front of a huge mirror on the wall above his dresser.
His hair was not in its usual bun and lay messily on top of his head. His hair went below his ears, he had eye bags under his eyes and was covered in sweat. He saw me walking in through his mirror and turned around "dude you look like sh*t" he said as I plopped down on his bed.
"You're one to talk" I laughed and threw a pillow at him, he caught it and threw it back on the bed "I look great" he said dismissively he looked at me awkwardly with a nervous smile and asked "how do you think our mate slept last night" I rolled my eyes "seriously dude". "Don't act like you're not thinking the same thing I bet it's driving you crazy not even knowing her name" he said defensively "it is not".
"Sure" was all he said as he headed towards his bathroom "do you think we'll see her at school today" he asked putting toothpaste on his toothbrush. "Probably she doesn't look familiar so she's probably new to town it's probably going to be her first day today" I said walking into my own joint bathroom and leaving the door open.
"I hope I have classes with her" he mindlinked me instead this time, cause his mouth was full. "Dude we talked about this, we have to stay away from her" I said stepping into the shower. "But what if she is strong enough to be Luna just because she's not a wolf doesn't mean she doesn't have other leading qualities" he whined.
"Yeah, but she's human, you really think she's going to stick around after learning we're Wolves, she's going to freak out and run for the hills and that kind of rejection is even worse, then staying away all together".
That's what I was most afraid of. I knew she would make a great Luna if she stayed around. Otherwise, why would the moon goddess pair us together, but humans tend to be unpredictable. What if she was afraid of me I couldn't have my baby being afraid of me.
ugh did I just call her baby. She was under my skin already. No matter what I had to stay away I had to keep Kade away too. He was a little softy. If she ran from us, it would break my little bros heart, and he would never open it up again. "I know" he said sadly, and walked out to get dressed.
We dressed in black jeans and a black hoodie. The only difference was that Kade put a leather jacket over his, and I rolled my sleeves up to my elbows to show off my tattoos. "I'll drive" yelled Kade, grabbing the keys and sprinting down the stairs. We never ate breakfast, so we just hopped right in the car and headed towards school.
By the time we got there, there were only a few minutes until the first bell rang, and our class was all the way across campus, so we decided to head straight there. Kade and I had three classes together, 1st, 3rd and 5th and five classes total. "I at least hope we run into her," he said softly, and secretly I was hoping that too.
Suddenly, something hit my chest, causing tingles to spread throughout my body. I looked down and there she was. She was wearing a dark blue crop top with sleeves and low-waisted pants, so I could see her whole stomach. She had a few scars from what looked to be cuts on her stomach, but they were barely noticeable and looked to be from a long time ago.
She had a couple of papers in her right hand and a tote bag that said love to make my goal with a picture of a soccer ball on it. It had a few notebooks in it with a small pencil case that also had soccer balls on them, so I took a guess and assumed she was into soccer. Maybe she will join the team.
She looked up red in the face from what seemed to be embarrassment and I struggled to keep my expression neutral "when I said run into her that's not exactly what I had in mind", Kade snickered, through our Mindlink.
"Sorry I wasn't looking", her melodic voice rang. She got up and looked down to dust herself off. She was so close that her amazing strawberry scent wrapped around me, holding me there. Kade stiffened at the smell of her and I saw him raising his arms as if to wrap them around her.
"Whatever"I said a little more harshly than I meant to and walked past her, pushing Kade forward.
She narrowed her eyes at my tone but didn't say anything and went on her way. "You didn't have to be so mean," Kade whispered. "I didn't mean to" I whispered back as we made our way to our first class, which went by pretty quickly.
The bell rang signaling it was time to go to our second class. Kade and I went our separate ways and I went to my usual seat at the back of my biology class. This was one of my favorite classes as I had a two-seater desk all to myself while everyone else had to share. Right before the bell rang, in walked my mate, of course, and where did the teacher sit her, right next to me, of course.
Where else would she go if there were no other seats available? "You can sit right next to Alec, Miss Cecilia," said Mr. Raid. Cecilia's outdated but still a beautiful name. "Just Cece" she said with a small smile. "Right, I'll make a note of that, Alec, raise your hand, so Cece can see you", he said the last part as if it were some funny joke.
I reluctantly raised my hand. I wasn't upset that I had to sit next to her. I was upset that the attempt to avoid her wasn't going well so far. She looked shocked to see my hand go up, then looked a little hesitant but made her way over, biting her lip. I let out a low growl, seeing her bite her lip. She better not keep that up.
She sat next me and put her bag on the hook at the end of the desk. "We keep running into each other" she said with a little laugh. Oh god, her laugh was so intoxicating. I didn't trust my voice, so I just gave her a tight-lipped smile which in hindsight I regretted because it made me seem like a jacka**.
She looked a little offended but tried to initiate conversation again. "I'm sorry about running into you before I'm Cecilia, but everyone calls me Cece" she said, holding out her hand. I wanted to take it and not let it go so badly.
I longed to feel the sparks her touch would bring me, but that would be a bad idea, so I settled for saying "don't worry about it, and it's Alec", but when I said it my voice was a little hoarse so it might have come across a little harshly. She nodded and turned to pay attention to the teacher seemingly giving up on making conversation.
Great Alec, she probably thinks you're a douchebag.
I midlinked Kade to ask for advice, but he just laughed me off. He's a douchebag too, and because the moon goddess loved me so much Mr. Raid assigned a project that had to be done outside of class.
When there was about 15 minutes left of class he let us talk to our partners to discuss how we were going to work on the project. We had to create a powerpoint and a 12x12 model or sculpture of the anatomy of an animal of our choosing. We exchanged numbers then began talking about where we would work.
"uh we can work on it at your house I guess" I said, feeling a bit awkward. Usually I was great at talking to girls, but she had my tongue twisting in knots and my stomach doing flips.
"No" she said a little too quickly. "Okay, tell me how you really feel" I thought internally. I widened my eyes in surprise. "I mean we can do it at your place if you want. There's not a lot of space in mine" she said, softening her voice. Was she embarrassed her house was small? I didn't really mind, but I wouldn't push.
I couldn't have her coming to the pack house though people might get the wrong idea and think she's my mate. Well, she is my mate, but I wasn't ready to tell people. "My house is a little crowded," I said, scratching the back of my head and letting out a nervous laugh.
We both went silent for a little bit, then I remembered there was a park up by the middle school that had tables he could work at. "There's a park not too far from here we could work at if you want" I said a little too enthusiastically. She widened her eyes in surprise at my enthusiasm and let out a little laugh "sure what time".
How many classes do you have? I said, knowing not all seniors didn't have a free sixth period that was mostly reserved for people with high GPAs "five" she said a little proud of herself. I smiled at that. I figured she was a little smarty-pants.
"Me too, we can start right after school if you don't mind my brother coming along, we took the same car" I said, knowing my brother wasn't going to want to miss this "umm" she looked a little hesitant. "Sure, if you don't mind my brother coming along he goes to the elementary right across the street," she said pointing though you couldn't see the school from this angle.
"Yea, I mean it is a park lots of space for him to run around while we work" I said dismissively. She gave me a small smile but had a worried look in her eyes. I was going to ask what was wrong when the bell rang.
We both got up and began walking towards our third period when I realized we were walking in the same direction. She looked up at me suspiciously, and I gave her an awkward smile. Ugh don't tell me. Yup, we both walked right up to the same door and reached for the handle, our hands touching and sending tingles all up my arm.
She gasped at the contact and I quickly opened the door for her and walked inside. She stood by the door for a second scanning for a place to sit when someone started screaming her name "Cece over here Cece, Cece" I looked up to find Sophie screaming her name.
Sophie was a member of our pack, and she sat at the same table as me and Kade. The tables were in the back by the window. It were two tables pushed together with two chairs on each side facing each other. I sat on the side facing the window and Sophie sat next to me with kade sitting across from me, so if she did decide to sit with us, she'd be in the corner next to Kade.
A surge of jealousy went through me at the thought of Kade getting to sit next to Cece, but I ignored it and took my seat and, shocker, shocker Cece took the seat in the corner. When Kade walked in, he was thoroughly surprised and pleased to see Cece sitting in the spot next to his. He took his seat and immediately tried to make conversation. I gave him a pointed look to stop, but he ignored me.
Kade
After a very boring second period, I was blessed with the sight of my pretty little goddess sitting in the chair right next to mine. She looked so tiny compared to me and my brother's six-foot-two frame, I think we might have been a whole foot taller. I sat down and immediately tried to initiate a conversation.
"Hi I'm Kade you are". I already knew her name was Cecilia and Cece for short, my brother had mindlinked me that much. I also knew that we had plans to go to the park with her after school, an unofficial date if you will. "Cece" she said, giving me a small smile. "Kade", I said, nodding, "yeah you said that already" said Sophie, giving me an amused smile.
I rolled my eyes but blushed a little, which caused her eyes to widen. "No freakin way" she mind linked me. I knew what she was implying and didn't respond, which only confirmed her suspicions. She opened a joint mind link between my brother and me. "Are you serious" she squealed over mindlink "This is great. She'll make a great Luna. I talked to her all first period, and she's so nice and has a strong sense of justice too". I looked at my brother pointingly "you hear that Sophie thinks she'll make a great luna".
I turned my attention back towards my goddess "so are you new here." I asked and almost facepalmed myself no sh*t she was new here. Why was this so hard. I've talked to hundreds of girls. "Yeah, just moved here yesterday" she said, nodding her head a little.
"Why'd you move," I asked, not sure how to keep the conversation going. "My grandma that was taking care of us died, so we had to move in with Miranda." She looked a little sad, and I cursed myself for bringing it up. I was going to try and change the subject when Sophie spoke up.
"Who's Miranda", "my mother". I thought I heard a little disgust in her voice, but I could have been wrong, so I dropped it. Why did she call her mom by her first name? Maybe she had been one of those hip parents who didn't force their kids to call them mom and dad.
Sophie brought up a great point. "If your mom is in the picture, why did you live with your grandma?" she asked, genuinely curious. Cece looked uncomfortable, and I was about to say something when the teacher started the lesson and told us to take notes. I could see Cece visibly relax as we averted our attention to the teacher. I wonder what that was about.
Class went on and the rest of the day was quite pleasant. I had a fourth period with my goddess all alone, and we sat next to each other. Then, in fifth period, Sophie, my brother Cece and I all sat at a table together again, but this time it was boys facing girls.
After the bell rang signaling the end of fifth period we all walked to the parking lot together. Sophie and Cece walked arm in arm. I tried to copy them and walk arm in arm with my brother, but he pushed me away and walked faster leaving me behind.
"We'll meet you at the park, said Alec, already hopping into the car. "Wait why are you guys going to the park" said Sophie confused. "Alec and I have a biology project to work on together". She said simply. I saw Alec visibly shiver hearing his name leave her mouth and that left me feeling jealous. "Oooh can I come" said Sophie as they walked off. "I don't see why not" I heard her reply.
"Bye Cece" I said, hoping to coax her into saying my name. She turned around and yelled "see you in a minute" and waved her hand dang it. I hopped in the car and looked at Alec. "You know we're doing a bad job at this whole avoiding her thing" I said cheekily. "Just shut up and drive," he said, rolling his eyes. I started the car and headed towards the park for my "unofficial date".
