Chapter 15 We finished hiking around the lake that day and set up camp not far from where we'd parked. We'd return early Monday morning, to our separate houses, our separate lives. That night, Richard read by the lamp and I lay pressed against him, the two of us naked and silent. I wanted him again. I wanted him a hundred times. But I was still sore, and so tired I could hardly move. Part of me wanted to sleep, but part of me wanted to stay awake as long as possible, just to savor this quiet moment at the end of everything. I wanted a cigarette, but I wasn't going to tell him that.
