CHAPTER 18; Twin's Fated Mate

Sandra pov
I took a deep and heavy breath before leaving the room.
And as I step down each step of the stairs I carry Brix's words. That seems to be a song lyric that keeps coming back to me and I can't get it out of my mind. That gives me courage and strength to keep wondering what's next to happen.
Couple of minutes ago….
"Are you nervous?
Brix asked me as he was standing behind me and holding my arms.
This is the moment after he gave me this diamond necklace.
He was watching my reflection in the whole body mirror that was in front of us.
But before I could answer his question, he spoke again.
"Because it's obvious."
He says. Then he made me face him. I was only up to his chest even though I was wearing 2.5 inch high heels.
"Are you nervous or shy?
I bowed slightly because I had just now thought about which of the two I have.
But I think both.
"Both?
I immediately looked up at him because he seemed to hear what I was thinking.
"Listen. That's fine, it proves that you're still human.
"I know someone out there who was completely swallowed up by being a wolf and doesn't know how to act like a human in human form."
I frowned when he said that.
I don't know who he is talking about, but I understand what he wants to say.
Again, I looked down somewhere but he immediately stopped me from doing such a thing.
I just felt one of his warm palms land on my cheek and it slid down my chin and lifted it slightly to make me look up straight to him.
"Hey, keep your eyes on me."
"B-Brix." It was almost just air that came out of my mouth. Facing him this close gave me a very strong thump in the chest.
And he never fails to give me such a feeling.
A grin appeared on the corner of his lips.
"That's right, just look at me. It's just the two of us."

I could only hear the sound of my heels on the stairs, but as I got closer to the last step, my heartbeat got stronger, until it overshadowed the sound of my heels.
I closed my eyes and let the air around me flow inside my body when I finally reached the door.
"It's time for you to go out, Casandra, no one will look down on you after tonight."
I breathed in and breathed out air before I opened my eyes as the servant opened the main door to give me a way.
Dazzling light and deafening mumbling of visitors greeted me the moment the door opened.
All eyes were looking at me and I read various reactions on their faces.
All the fear becomes a ball of wind blocking my chest and I don't know what to do next. My eyes wandered to everyone all over the place.
Restlessly, looking for someone.
My eyes are open but they don't recognize me anymore.
And now that all the noise and reactions around me are coming into me, I feel like my knees are going to collapse at any moment.
I thought I was ready, I thought I could face them, but I was wrong.
"Hey! Keep your eyes on me."
Until Brick's voice played in my brain again.
"Brix."
I whispered. Again, I looked at those who were there,looking for him.
"Where are you?
I know he's here somewhere. I know because I can smell his scent.
"I'm here."
My eyes stopped at one spot.
Here he was, only three steps from where I was standing.
Finally, the air that stuck in my chest dissolved and came out of my mouth as I let out a sigh of relief.
He stepped closer to me as the distance between us finally disappeared.
He extended his hand and I accepted it with a smile.
He put my hand on his arm and we walked together towards the center where everyone was facing.
Then everyone fell silent to allow the alpha to speak.
"Good evening to all of you, to all who accepted my invitation.
"I want you to know that I am grateful that you are here to join us in celebrating my birthday.
"But today's celebration is not just for my birthday, because tonight."
Before he finished what he was going to say, he turned his gaze to me.
"Because tonight, I want to introduce to all of you my fated mate, my Luna.
"Luna Cassandra."
Then the deafening whining of the beta Arlo, who was behind us to begin with. All pack members do that as they accept a luna as a new member of the pack.
Then Arlo, the beta who was standing behind us, started to growl so loudly and so all the pack members did as he did. It was a sign of acceptance of a new pack member.
It was overwhelming,but I still have this nervousness in my chest as I scrolled my eyes to recognize every member.
Now I have come to realize how big a pack Brix leads.
Less than half of this pack has the number of members led by Alpha Austin in the Jade pack.
And as I looked at the faces of the members one by one, I saw a familiar image.
"Carla." I felt the wrinkle on my forehead tighten when my eyes landed on her.
"What is she doing here?
I asked myself.
Like me, she didn't seem happy to see me.
But on the other hand, a small grin appeared on the corner of my lips.
The idea of her witnessing how I became the luna of one of the strongest alphas made me very happy.
I want to see how she will be eaten by jealousy because her former slave is now a luna.
I will never get tired of watching her envious reaction every time she looks at me.
"So this is what it feels like. The feeling that you are higher than anyone else."

"Who do you think you are to steal the spotlight from me!? You're just a slave picked up from the trash."
Carla,almost burning with anger.
All the eyes of guests that were on her just now, are now on Cassandra.
"Jack?"
She turned around when she heard a woman's voice approaching Jack.
Everyone's attention was focused on the birthday celebrant, Brix, and his Luna, Cassandra, except for this woman.
"Jack, I-is that you, son?
"Son? Then she is Jack's mother."
There were tears in the eyes of that lady who completely got close to Jack, who now didn't know how to react.
Carla looked up at Jack as if waiting for any reaction from him.
But Jack only gave his mother a cold look.
"What's wrong with you? Are you numb?
Carla's mind linked Jack who was just next to her. But Jack slightly looked at her with sharp eyes.
That's why Carla decided to be the one to speak.
"Hi! I'm Carla, I'm Jack's Luna."
Carla said as she intervened between the two.
"H-hi! nice to meet you."
Josephine wiped the tears from her eyes before she gave Carla a hug and kiss as a greeting.
"I'm so glad to finally meet Jack's mother. I hope we can get along."
Carla said kindly.
Jack frowned when he witnessed how good his mate was at pretending to be kind.
She seemed to be a bitter fruit that was stuck in Jack's throat. He couldn't take it any longer, so he left that scene and headed to a table where the drinks were and took a glass of wine from there.
He gulped in all its contents to wash away all the bitterness in his throat.
Then he looked back at where his mother was.
He couldn't remember what his mother looked like when he last saw her.
He was only 11 years old back then.
And now he doesn't know how to react.
In fact, he harbors many emotions for his mother.
Longing, anger and love.
He just didn't know how to take it out. It was locked in an old trunk belonging to a younger version of him.
"You come."
From somewhere, Brix appears with his Luna, Cassandra. He found Brix approaching him and from Brix, his eyes crawled down to the woman who was with Brix.
The woman was staring back at him. At this moment Jack knew he had seen those eyes before.
She was the woman with the most romantic scent he had ever smelled in his entire life.
Brix immediately noticed the way Jack looked at Cassandra.
"She's my Luna.
Only then did Jack look back at him.
"Arlo, get her."
Using a mind link, he orders Arlo to keep Cassandra away.
And Arlo immediately approached where they were.
"Luna, come let me introduce you to the other guests.
Arlo said, appearing out of nowhere.
Cassandra looked up at Brix and Brix nodded as if giving her permission to go with Arlo.
And when it was just the two of them left, Jack again took a glass of wine and gulped it down.
Brix already knew that at this moment he was going to have a big problem with this man. Because he already knows what's going on. They are twins, so it is not impossible that they have the same fated mate.
Now that he is facing his brother and they are looking at each other, he is starting to regret inviting him to his pack.
