CHAPTER ONE: WELCOME TO COVE RIDGE
Lana idyll stared out of the window as they drove over the Cove Ridge Bridge, she already hated everything about this town. She hated they had to leave New York to a small secluded place that no one ever heard about, Lana loved her old life. She was popular and liked by everyone but now she was about to be the new kid. Her mother’s voice beamed, ‘We are here’. Their car pulled in front of a large mansion with a Victorian style. Lana had shiny jet-black hair with olive skin tone and bright rebellious amber eyes, she adorned a striped t-shirt with a puff jacket on top and dark tight-fit denims. She rolled her eyes at the house before proceeding to the door. The door had a symbol on it, the symbol was two stars that overlap at their centers, creating a complex pattern. Each star had five points, and the overlapping area forms an intricate diamond shape. The symbol seemed to be sown into the door with a shimmering purple thread. Lana felt drawn to the symbol as she heard a subtle whisper, ‘Touch the sigil’. She quickly turned to look behind her with a puzzled look. Her mother, Linda asked, ‘Are you okay sweetie?’ “Yeah mom. I am fine, I just feel a little tired”, she shot back at her. Gabriel darted past her sister opening the door as he yelled, ‘Move out the dork’.
Gabriel has tussle blonde hair with a pair of glasses over his brown eyes and a fair skin tone like his mother, he adorned a justice league sweater with cargo shorts and sleek slip-ons. The house had a large foyer with a spiral staircase leading to the upper level of the house. The majestic house boasted an expansive kitchen with a traditional brick stone oven, marble stone counters and tops. “Woah the living room is so huge!” Gabriel expressed. The moving company arrived with the rest of their stuff as they began to unpack.

The town hall is a beautiful, old stone building with a steep, gabled roof and large, arched windows. Inside, the air is filled with the scent of aged wood and fabric. The centerpiece is the Tapestry Room, where the mystical tapestry hangs, telling the history of Cove Ridge. Soft, ambient lighting highlights the intricate threads, making the images appear alive. A cloaked figure stood in front of the tapestry where three beings were stitched with a black thread. The figures stood around the golden tree that represented the town. His voice was deep and throaty as he spoken to the figures.
“Have you found the girl who shall free us?” The disembodied voice asked him as he responded, ‘Yes! She has arrived in town but remains unaware of her powers’. “She must touch the tapestry and pull us out”, they ordered him. “But she needs to be trained so she can properly pull you out without pulling out the Weavers or anyone who can disrupted. I may need your help to achieve this”, he stated. A sweeping breeze burst open the doors as it swirled around his hands before producing a feather brooch. The feather brooch is crafted from an iridescent material, resembling a brown and yellow delicate feather with soft curves. They advised, ‘Use this to fool the girl, become her friend and free us! He left the room planning the downfall of Cove Ridge.

Gabriel and Linda sat down to enjoy a bowl of rice and chicken, they took in the view of their living room with two dark blue velvet sofas, a large TV mounted above the fire place and a cupboard filled Linda’s fine china and small figurine collection. “Gabe! Where is your sister?” She asked him as he responded, ‘She stuffed herself in her room and she is busy mopping about everything’. “It’s fine. She’s having a harder time adjusting to everything. She just needs to make friends and she will be fine”, she justified. Gabriel argued, ‘You are always defending her even when she thinks everything is your fault.’ Linda stood up and headed for Lana’s bedroom. A yellow caution, ‘Don’t Enter’ sign was pasted on her door. Linda cautiously knocked on her daughter before slowly opening the door. The door creaked open as she announced, ‘I am coming in’.
Lana groaned, ‘What do you want?’ She walked over to her before sitting down on her bed, she tucked Lana’s hair behind her ear as she softly said, ‘Honey I know you are struggling with all of this but I promise you that you are going to like this place. I know it’s small but……’ Lana cut her mother short. “Can you please stop with all of this optimism? Stop pretending everything is okay? How can you not be mad after dad did? Nothing is fine at all and I want to be left alone”, she yelled as she covered herself with her blanket to avoid any more talk with her mother. Linda left her daughter’s room heartbroken. She was angry at Arthur for cheating on her and running off with most of her money, leaving her and the kids with nothing. Even the sound of his name made her blood boil with fury but she had to compose herself and keep calm for her kids. They were her strength and her comfort, she needed to hold her head high for them. Her eyes burned with determination as she pulled out a blank canvas before painting her feelings. Using the myriad of colors to express what was deep with her. She was engulfed in her artistic process unaware of the man standing outside her window watching her.
Lana watched as her mother painted, she wasn’t sure how he felt about everything. She didn’t want to be here, she wanted her father to explain himself. To explain why he did everything
