The start of school
Alpha Aaron (the dean)
I sat in my office watching all the new kinds of kids waltz into the school. You could tell what most were by how they walked, as if nothing could touch them. Some stuttered out at the front and watched the others go, trying to find their confidence. Some caught my eye more than others, what could I say I liked to collect the unique and powerful for my pack. But something rubbed me wrong at the sight of the one in front of me. Even a lesser supernatural could see she was dangerous and chaotic wrapped up nice and pretty. She stood so still she could've been a statue. Only clue she wasn't was her dark blue hair flowing in the wind that only seemed to touch her. She wasn't super thin but thin enough to see signs of undernourishment and muscles probably from street fights. I would hate to be the one that underestimate her, no supernatural should be. Her so more than others consisting I could feel the danger leaking off her from here. She was wearing purple leather pants and a holey black tank top. I couldn't place what she was unlike the werewolves that tackled each other in human form next to her. She was too calm for being as close as she was to them. She straightened her book bag and her shoulders and marched to the doors… to the office not the school, it seems she was one of the three new kids attending this year. Curiosity got the better of me I had to know who and what she was. Maybe I'd add her to my pack. I opened my door just a smidgen and released my dragons hearing so I wouldn't miss a thing. As the door opened even my dragon preened a little behind the fact that she couldn't see us, even though she could feel us.
"Hello, I'm sorry to bug you but I need my schedule please" my secretary slowly looked up from her newest book and glared at the girl. My secretary was a lovely jaguar shifter who hated to be interrupted while reading was probably shooting glares at the poor girl.
"If you want your schedule child I will need your name. You should know how this works by now. This is high-school. We no longer break our backs for the likes of you". It's possible that the girl put her on edge too. I felt the air vibrating which could only mean my newest addition to the pack was snooping around my office. Maybe trying to figure out the blue haired vixen also. I was so lost in thought I almost missed her answer. "My name is O'Maiya." As I refocused I went to my cabinet file to find hers. It was the smallest one in there. Had her name photo and her past schools. Nothing referenced to what she was. "Last name child" replied my secretary.
"If I had one you would have received it with my first name Mrs. Jones."
"No last name… hmm. Ahh here it is, here is a map also. Seems you have a few hours before your classes start you should go get the lay of the school." With that the girl shrugged her shoulders and walked out to mingle with the other supernaturals that had classes now or had arrived earlier to hang with their friends.
"Boy, I know you are in here. You might be very fast but I can feel you vibrating the air in here." With that the vampire stopped moving and you could finally see him. As a vampire Andrew , he was fast but he was special, he could move slightly faster than the other vampires and didn't have to build up an immunity to the sun. Unlike new vampires who would burn in sunlight. He was a hybrid but we only knew of the first half of his genetic build up.
"Who was that. I could feel her across campus in the vampire tunnels. She sent quite a few of us into a tizzy. Father, I think she's dangerous to us all. Is it even safe for her to be at this school. Last thing we need is something or someone stronger to enter this territory, looking for her. Between yours, Alpha Archer and the vampire lord Kendrick, and our new pack. We can't have someone else enter without practically setting a bomb off here." His statement did hit pause on my train of thought. She was powerful, really powerful if even I, a dragon who coveted powerful pack members was glad not to be in her sight. She would draw other powerful creatures to her and then pack wars would start like crazy for the girl. I must get her to submit to me so I could stop everything before it starts. God knows how Alpha Archer would love to make her his in every way. I shudder at the very thought. Hmmm. It's been awhile since I've heard from him, last I heard he was chasing a girl about her age. "Father…" Andrew growled " you aren't listening to me again. What can I do to prevent someone else from coming here and starting a war. There's been too much loss already." That sent me spiraling back, he rarely spoke of when he was a few years younger and watched his mom and dad being brutally slaughtered by the vampires that captured him and abused him for his differences.
"Andrew, follow her. Figure out her secrets. You are by far the best spy we have. Don't make it personal, you'll screw it all up if you do." All of the sudden there was a huge racket going up at the front desk, people yelling threats and demanding answers. I stepped out to see what the commotion was about, to see two kids fighting with the receptionist over what appears to be the girl. I walked over and made myself known to them. Surprisingly they didn't even flinch as my alpha instincts reached them. "What is going on here?" I asked with all the authority I could muster if I thought the other one was trouble then these two would be a nightmare. She was at least polite and quiet. If I read their signatures correctly the female would be a semi powerful witch, which was shocking for her age considering she was still growing into her powers. And the male who has been shooting daggers at me the entire time I checked her out, smelled like a wolf, which would mean that the witch is possibly his mate.
"My name is Lexi, and we are looking for our alpha. She has been here recently. My mate Alex has scented her here and can't find her scent to where she went. If you guys have even touched a piece of her blue hair I will make your life's a living hell." So my thought process was on the nose with that, but Alpha. The girl no, not that I could tell. She looked too reckless and didn't look as if she shouldered the burden for the safety of anyone but herself. But I also couldn't guess her kind, so it's possible. What to do about the situation they put me in though. My fingers anxiously started to drum along the counter.
"Your alpha came in about half an hour ago and got her schedule and went out to figure her way around campus. Why would she abandon her pack Lexi?" I asked looking for any form of insight into O'Maiya's character. An Alpha without a pack was very dangerous. Especially since they have a tendency to take as they please and create mass chaos.
"She would never abandon us!" Shouted the wolf Alex I believe. The wolf looked very familiar but I just couldn't put my finger on where I would've seen him before. Nothing seemed to stick in my memory. "She just doesn't do well with us always being right there. She snuck out a window to avoid us trying to protect her, that f*****g hellion." Hmm it's possible that she could be a hell resident but she doesn't smell of brimstone and fire, or like any of the demons that go to school here.
"It's not even like she needs us to protect her. She is crazy scary. What did I say about calling her a f*****g hellion" Lexi screeched as she hit her mate. "We are lucky she even saved us from him, but also to take us under her wing and offer her protection to us. You should be ashamed."
"Boy, what is your last name? I can't seem to recall where I would've met you before but I know I have." He visibly paled to a significant degree. Seems I struck a chord in him. Maybe I could play it to my advantage in figuring out what the girl is. My fingers started picking up speed drumming on the counter as I grew more excited.
" I no longer have a last name, it was willingly revoked to be in her pack. A move I will never regret" he added with a snarl. "Give us our schedules so we can find our alpha, now" he demanded as he ripped the papers out of Mrs. Jones' hands. Slamming through the doors that lead to the outdoor campus.
