The Phoenixs lost beginning

Someone is hunting us??

TitusI had to leave, my main issue has always been lies. We had made a deal, no lies, no secrets. With that I would be his beta, his right hand man. Then he goes and does that. He told no one, I understand that my mate bond isn't fated like all of theirs but it's just as real. I had to leave, my trust was broken and I couldn’t stand to look at him. Maybe once I cooled down I could go back and talk. It sucks having to be the one who has to walk away. I can't stay never could. I have to walk away. That's the problem with being one with fire. 

I took a walk around our territory heading towards the massive lake. Best way to take care of fire is water. I stripped as soon as the water was nearby, wet clothes are such a drag. I slipped into the water up to my waist then dragged my wet hand through my red hair, I should get it cut soon it was starting to pass my ears. I dunk below the water heading to the bottom. Weird as it might be I find my peace in the water. I could burn and nothing else would. My air was running out so I resurfaced to see a handful of supernaturals surrounding the lake looking rather pissed. "Sorry, did I piss in your lemonade or something" I laughed out while flipping onto my back to float. Can't show fear, they will eat it up. What better way to show I'm not afraid then to stay in the water and relax around them. Out of the seven three looked ready to slit my throat and call it a day. 

"Get him, he will do… for now" said the little female wolf. The little beast gave such a wicked smile, "maybe if you are a good sport, he might let you be my pet too." She purred at me, making me sick to my stomach. Why would I want her when my beautiful mate had everything on her. I guess my feelings of that were portrayed on my face,  based on the ugly sneer that morphed her face into a hideous creature. 

They must have planned this because I was in the water without any connection to my brothers. I was a sitting duck. I guess the only question that needs to be asked is how whoever orchestrated this hunt knew I wouldn't be able to contact them? No one could've known about our fight and us all throwing our walls up. Just maybe just maybe I could use the mate bond that I triggered to get her here. She must have seen something she liked on some level or the very detailed phoenix wouldn't have been tattooed on my back. Crossing my fingers I plucked at the invisible strings hoping to call her while simultaneously praying my brothers would be here faster. 

The water around me constricted so I wasn't able to wiggle much as two of the lackeys went into the water to drag me out. I stood still as the wolf appraised my body and froze as she made comments on my 'tattoo' s**t… "chicks dig it, especially the humans, ya know. The art is beautiful and I can hide in plain sight while advertising what I am, smart huh??" Hopefully distracting them from what it really is. A few mumbled replies was all I got. Not that I care. 

A haunted tune went through the air summoning quiet from all. "They are coming to take me away haha, they are coming to take me away. Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to leave because I'd go berserk well you left me anyhow and the days got worse and worse and now you see I've gone completely out of my mind " and then a cheerful humming followed. Seems my gamble paid off as she stepped through the trees with headphones in her ears. 

"Well well well, looky what we have here. Is this what you were stalling for. From the looks of it you called for a fae a winter one judging by her hair color. What's she going to do, freeze you to death phoenix?" She laughed as I froze trying to turn around before she saw my back. 

Apparently too late on the aspect, as her eyes narrowed and she portaled so fast I didn't even see it, I felt the heat that's for sure. She dragged her nails down my back tracing the design that is specifically for her, even if she isn't entirely aware of it. "Mine... it's saying you're mine… I'm losing my mind. I follow a muffled yell in my head and now tattoos are claiming me… wtf". She claimed me, might not know what she did but she did it.

"Get them. Kill the fae but not the phoenix. We need him alive." Was shouted, breaking the spell she put me under. 

I went to call upon my phoenix to transform when a warm hand rested on my arm. I looked at Mia and she just gave me a wicked grin that told me this was her fight now. She held her hand in front of her and fire sprung to life all the way up her arm. At the stare of the wolf she laughed out "fire is my friend it only burns what I want it too, And I want it to burn you". She reached her hand forward and the fire jumped from her hand igniting the surrounding forest on fire. At least it didn't seem to be spreading. "Little wolf didn't mommy ever teach you not to judge people by appearances. Now burn." She sounded so gleeful as she blew the flames out to reach them. That must have triggered something because Mia stuttered back a step then ignited herself as she took her phoenix's form. She was so beautiful and I longed to burn with her so badly that before I even noticed I was a phoenix playing in her flames. Within the moment our enemies were all gone. Her flames were potent enough to get drunk on. 

Mia's form started to flicker in and out causing me to freak out. I shifted back and caught her as she passed out. The flames she summoned stood strong as an impenetrable wall. At least I thought as Ash and Exos ran through them looking for a fight that no longer existed. Not even their clothes were slightly singed, it seems having a mate bond with her protects them from her flames. They turned around in confusion as they tried to process what happened. That was until their eyes snagged on Mia laying limply in my arms. They approached me carefully to check on Mia. As soon as their hands touched her hot skin the fires around us let out as Andrew and Paxton ran through looking flustered. Exos gently ripped her out of my arms while the others surrounded him to make sure she was safe and unhurt. Her phone fell as he walked away so I picked it up and turned back to get my clothes. As I finished dressing curiosity got the best of me. I checked what she was listening to and it was a song called 'They're coming to take me away' by an artist known as Butcher Babies. Quite a coincidence if you ask me that that's what she happened to be listening to as she came to save me. I ran up to catch up with my brothers to figure out what we were going to do with this new complication.

Exos gently laid her on his bed and wanted to stay with her. It took all of us to convince him it wouldn't be better for any of us to have her wake up with someone watching her. We all stepped out to our living room. I feel bad for thinking about it but I started to compare all of us towards each other to see who Mia might pick to be her mate if not all of us. "So after I left I went for a swim to be basically jumped by a group of seven… they wanted me alive, though I think any phoenix would do. I don't know why, all I do know is that to some extent it was planned. I had no contact with any of you. I took a gamble by calling O'Maiya so I could have some back up. She arrived and apparently a voice was telling her that I am hers. She claimed it was the mating bond tattoo on my back. Then she got pissed and she lit the forest on fire saying that fire only burns what she wants.  f*****g crazy right??? Nooo it's not, when the flames extinguished not a single tree was burned but all that attempted to take me were piles of dust. O yeah,, she transformed but couldn't hold her form long after a few minutes she started flickering out. She's transformed a few times before but not enough… she shouldn't have this much control over fire…" I was ranting. I just couldn't believe it. We are fire but we don't control it like that. Everyone was staring at me in a look of confusion and jealousy. I had gotten one thing that none of them have, an acknowledgement of my bond with her.

"I think you guys need to know this," Andrew started. "I think Alpha Aaron is going to be gunning for our mate. He's mad Alpha Archer is dead and wants blood. I think it's wholly possible she took him out. We have to protect her".

"Who needs protecting" came a mumbled reply from the hallway as she shuffled out looking exhausted. All of us exchanged a glance, not wanting to be the one to tell her. She stumbled into the living room and almost hit the ground when Exos plucked her from mid air and sat her on his lap. Looking rather smug when instead of trying to get up she snuggled into him. "Someone start talking I am exhausted to the bone and only have snippets of what I assume were the last few hours". When no one made a move she sat up and looked straight at Paxton. "Why not you start dragon, begin with a name ya know how it goes don't you" she snarked at him. Under Mia's scrutiny he sat a little straighter and cleared his voice as if he was going to speak. Then he just stopped and stared at her. "Any day now preferably". He just sat there staring at her. Can't really blame him she is a sight to behold, but it seemed to piss her off. As she got up a little wobbly and started walking to the door… without even saying goodbye. 

"Wait, please don't go. Fuckkk I'm sorry, I'm not very good at this" Paxton rushed out.

"Okay, so get talking or make your peace" Mia Sassed back. She moved to take the seat next to me when Asher grabbed her and had her sit on his lap at least he got a glare for that.

"f**k, my name is Paxton you little s**t. The person who needs protecting is you. You don't know this obviously because you didn't grow up here. You can barely shape-shift, which makes me think you don't even know what you are. Even  oblivious to the fact you're destroying my pack. MY f*****g PACK". 

I turned to see Mia's reaction and she looked pissed. "If I'm f*****g your pack up so much, then why am I here… without even knowing where here is. I was f*****g kidnapped by YOUR f*****g PACK! I want nothing to do with any of you." Her rage must have given her the strength because a portal flickered into existence and she vanished. Without us even saying the important parts.
