Chapter 1 “Did you ever think we’d see this many people out here?” Olivia said as sweat glided down from her forehead. Her colleague beside her nodded “ not in a million years” while holding a sign that read “Save our planet” Smoke billows in the distance and the sky is tinted an ominous shade of grey. “Save our planet” the crowd roared with Olivia leading in front. Jake pointing ahead to a factory “There! that’s the company that is poisoning the atmosphere this much” The crowd continued protesting towards the building Jake had pointed. “Olivia” One of the protesters called out while slightly touching her shoulder.” The owner of this company is a big shot in the city” The woman said as the Crowd still chanted out loud. “Are you sure our voices will be heard compared to the power we see ahead”,the woman added “Companies have been destroyed,evil practices affecting our environment abolished. I, Olivia green can bring him down” She said firmly as she raised her right fist in the air, increasing the momentum of the crowd even more. Meanwhile,Back the factory, John rushes to Mr Alexander’s office. “Sir? Sir?” He frantically uses his eyes to scan the 5th floor of the building where Mr Alexander usually stays to wait for meetings about to start. “John” a husky voice snaps John backs to the present as he turns around. “Good morning Mr Alexander” “I, l “ “Woah, slow down big guy. Did you steal my money or something” Alexander chuckles as he heads to the conference table in the room where his morning coffee has already been placed. Wiping the wet circle the cup had left on the table, he looked up. “Did something happen with the media again or you are here for your usual speech on why I should give you a raise?” He said lifting one of his eye brow. “No sir” John lowered his gaze as he continued.”There’s an ongoing protest heading this way. Alexander stood up abruptly “What do you mean protest?” “It’s currently all over the media and I thought you should know immediately. I also do not think the meeting scheduled for 1pm today will hold sir as the roads have been blocked as well” “s**t, call Amanda ” Alexander said as he quickly walked out of the room and headed to his office. “Sir, you called for me” Amanda said as she stood in Alexander’s office while he sat behind his desk, a pen in his hand hitting the table rhythmically. “There is a protest heading this way and if I am interviewed or shown on the television in such a way, it puts one of my major business deals at risk” “So what are you saying sir?” Amanda said with a questioning look on her face. He dropped the pen and looked at her, no sign of a smile anymore.”Arrange a limousine immediately, I have to leave before the protests reaches here” “But sir the roads are blocked” She said “And should that be a problem that I should handle?” He spoke firmly, his tone getting sharper with every passing sentence. “No sir” she said as she quickly left his office Alexander clutched his fist on the desk and stroked the moustache that outlined from the top of his lips all the way down to form the perfect shape. “Why is this happening right now.All my business partners do not need to see me in this light, not now when I am trying to build back the company’s legacy after my dad’s bad decisions” He thought out loud. His thoughts were interrupted when the telecom rang. His eyes picking up the phone before his hands even got there. “Yes Amanda” He knew it must have been her. “Sir, the car is ready” “I’ll be down immediately” he said as he hung up. He reached for his suit jacket placed on the gold standing rack in his office. “This is not how I planned my morning” he said with annoyance in his tone while throwing his suit jacket over his shoulder. “Sir,the protest has reached the gates. The car is also parked directly outside as well” Amanda said as she tried to keep up with his pace while he walked out of the building” “There he is, Mr Alexander!Mr Alexander!” Few reporters already outside shouted, As Olivia and the protestors reach the gate, Alexander passes just at the same time. Their eyes missing each other by a split second. His jacket slightly rubs against her shoulder as he dashs into the car already parked there. “Did you see him? That’s him” Jake said “Who?” Olivia looked confused at Jake’s words “The owner of the company, he just passed us. He’s running away from responsibilities I’m sure and we can’t even stop him” Jack said angrily Olivia stood confused in the middle of a protest “ Did I just miss an opportunity to get answers?” She thought. Feeling defeated for the first time in a long time. She zoned out but was quickly snapped back to reality when police sirens blared in the distance. “We won’t back down, we won’t leave” Olivia changed the chant to increase the momentum of the crowd. Her eyes fixed on the officials coming down from the vehicles. “Miss Olivia?” a gentle voice spoke as Olivia notices an elderly officer standing in front of her. “We both know this is not the way to get solutions to your problems” the officer continued “Oh and I suppose you can be of any help? Because last time I checked you closed the case because we didn’t have enough “evidence” to prove this company is not supporting environmental peace with their actions” “But we” the officer said but was cut short by Olivia as she held her hand to the officers face. “I don’t need a lecture about what is right or wrong sir” “If only you guys actually did your jobs than go around sleeping with girls half your age and call it and operation “this or that” Olivia said with disgust on her face. The officer,taken aback by Olivia’s words “And who told you that?” He said with a puzzled look “My father is influential and I am walking in those footsteps so trust me to know what is happening wherever I am” “But you know this protest is not right” the officer said with a lowered tone. “Like I said, you have no right to tell me what is right or wrong” “Besides we are not doing anything wrong nor are we damaging any property” she added “We just want to be heard” “And you will be but for now, there are more important issues on ground” the officer said handing over a phone to Olivia “Hello?” Olivia said, unsure of what was happening. After a few seconds, her face turned pale and she froze. That was the last thing she expected to hear at that moment.
