Prologue
Theo Bored, I sit at the marble kitchen island, perched on one of the high stools, and take a sip of coffee that 'has been cold for a good few minutes now.Lousy coffee, by the way. However, I keep that assessment to myself, along with many others.I glance at the large clock hanging on the wall. Tick-tock, tick-tock. The sound echoes throughout the room.Alex's five minutes have turned into twenty. She dashed upstairs to get ready for the gala, which 'she had known about for a month, if not longer, since her parents were the organizers.Impatiently, I pull out my phone to send her a message to hurry, but a timid voice makes me freeze with the phone in my hand.- She's already drying her hair, so she'll definitely be down soon.- I look in the direction from which the quiet, soft voice is coming' 'and smile gently. Valerie. My fiancée's younger sister. A young woman now, actually. Completely out of place in our lavishly decorated kitchen, dressed in a large, baggy, and frayed T-shirt and a long skirt, with her hair tied back in a sloppy bun, she couldn't be more different from her elegant and always impeccably dressed sister. That doesn't mean she's not attractive, though. With those big blue eyes, long blond curls, and 'pink, luscious, heart-shaped lips, she looks like a fairy from a fairy tale. You know the saying that every family has a black sheep? In this one, she's the only white sheep. She quietly walks over to the refrigerator and takes out an orange juice carton.- Would you like a drink?- She shifts her questioning gaze to me.Her cheeks are flushed, and her breathing is rapid, as if she had just returned from a cross-country run .- Don't bother.- I wave my hand and turn my gaze back to my phone.' -It's no trouble at all!- She responds quickly.- Really! Or maybe you'd like something else?”- Nervous undertones creep into her monologue.- How about water? Or maybe another coffee? We also have other juices… -Orange juice will be fine.- I'm putting an end to her torment.I'll drink this juice, even though it's the last thing I want. She smiles with relief as she reaches for a second glass.Such a small gesture on my part, and her previously stiff demeanor relaxes, and finally, the tense atmosphere in the 'room dissipates.I glance discreetly at Valerie. She's a lovely girl. And so different from her family. Kind and shy. Every time our eyes meet, her face and neckline flush. And when I ask her a question, she often stares at me in shock before answering, as if she can't believe the question was for her. With a trembling hand, she hands me a frosted glass and sits down on the stool opposite me.As always, she takes a chocolate bar out of the cabinet, unwraps the foil, and holds out her hand 'toward me, wanting to offer me a piece. I shake my head in refusal.I take a sip of cold juice, wondering how it's possible that this devilish family has such an angelic soul.An angelic little being addicted to chocolate. I stifle a chuckle by taking another sip of the cold juice. -Aren't you going to the gala?I ask this question even though I already know the answer.I guess it's just to break the silence, although, unusually for me in her presence, it doesn't bother me. 'N-no.”She replies as if surprised that I still notice her presence. That doesn't surprise me; I've known this family for several years now, and from what I've observed, she's the youngest daughter in the Howard family, and she avoids social gatherings like the plague. In fact, she avoids anything related to public appearances. -Aren't you fond of her?- I'm curious about her. I've never been interested in her, but it's puzzling that she avoids any public appearances so much. -Hmm... I don't know. I haven't 'participated in enough of them to be able to say.- Her strange answer makes me fall silent for a moment.I open my mouth to ask another question, but at that moment, Alexandra bursts into the kitchen, preceded by a cloud of overpowering perfume. -You haven't participated because you're a loner.-She says this with a laugh, standing in front of me and twirling around like a ballerina. -How do I look? She winks at me flirtatiously. She knows perfectly well what she looks like. She looks like sin incarnate. A silky, red 'with thin straps and a deep slit down to the thigh envelops her like a second skin, accentuating her firm, small breasts and highlighting her muscular figure. Her dark hair is smooth and shiny, with one side pulled back to reveal her ear.Her red, plump lips beg to be bitten into like juicy fruit. -Perfect, as always.- I reply in a low, husky voice. We are made for each other. Hungry and calculating. We are united not only by our thirst for blood but also by the darkness in our souls, which we 'revel in within the privacy of four walls. We don't live together, but Alex spends more time at my place than at his own. With a few exceptions, when he returns to his family home, he drags me along to mark his territory and assert his authority. I don't mind that at all. Especially since I do the same myself. I take her to all the important and even more important events. I show her off to the world. I show her off in every important place. So that the world knows she's mine. That I have her in the palm of my hand. I pull her toward me so that she is between my thighs, and I clasp my hands around her waist. Her breathing quickens, and her fingers slide into my hair.- Do we still have time?-I purr, running my nose over her flat stomach. A soft 'grunt makes me look away from her erect n*****s, which are pressing against the fabric of her silk dress.I tilt my head back and remember that we are not alone. My fiancée doesn't care at all. Her hands continue to wander through my hair, while she presses her breasts against my cheek. On the other side of the kitchen island sits Valerie, flushed to the tips of her ears, staring at the leftover juice in her glass as if it held some secret she desperately wants to unravel. It doesn't throw me off balance.Even less does it embarrass me.I stare intently at her forehead until, finally, she too lifts her eyes from the glass, which she quickly lowers again.I chuckle to myself as I catch her glancing in my direction again. 'Without taking my eyes off her flushed face, I slowly slide one of my hands down to Alex's buttock and squeeze it hard, until a moan escapes my fiancée's lips.Valerie follows my gesture with her eyes, and even from where I am, I can see her pupils dilating.I think it's time to end this game.I chuckle softly, prompting Alexandra to quickly take a step back.Val's face and neck are almost purple. She knows I caught her red-handed.- Shall we finish this in the car?My fiancée asks in a low voice, but still loud enough for her sister to hear us.- Damn it, I forgot my phone. She runs out of the kitchen, her high heels clicking loudly.I don't respond; I get up from my chair and stand next to Valerie, placing the juice glass in the sink. She 'doesn't look at me. She clenches her fingers tightly on the countertop until her knuckles turn white. She's so innocent. She's so sweet.I would gladly introduce her to the temptations of this world. He dragged me into the darkness I live in.I quickly push those thoughts aside. She doesn't deserve this. She's pure. She's different. She is special. She doesn't belong in my world.I hear her quiet, trembling breath as I lean over her and whisper in her ear, “Have a nice evening.” I leave without giving her another glance
