I hadn't meant to fall asleep. The healing crystal lesson with Emma Davis had drained what little wolf energy I had left. The territory holder's daughter showed remarkable aptitude for basic crystal energy manipulation—far more than I'd expected from someone so young.
"Like this, Ms. Silver?" Emma had asked, her young face scrunched in concentration as she held the raw crystal between her palms.
The faint blue glow emanating from the stone had surprised me. "That's excellent, Emma. Most wolves your age can barely sense the energy, let alone direct it."
Her smile had been radiant. "My mother says I might have healer blood somewhere in our ancestry."
