Chapter 3

P.O.V. Jack

When I got up the next morning I had to call Thomas to come over and help me. I was kind of stressing out over not knowing what to wear.

“Bro you really need to stop being a girl over this just wear what you always do it's not like she will reject you just because of this… plus didn't you say that you told them that you would be over at noon? He says flopping down on my bed.

“Yeah I did say that...why?”

“Well noon is in like 5 min”

“What?!!!!!why didn't you say anything before now” i yell at him as i grab a pair of jeans and a black shirt and shove my feet in my cons and run to my car and speed towards her house hoping that i am able to make it there on time before noon hits. I pull into her driveway with a few seconds to spare. I sigh and climb out and walk up to the door, before I could even knock Beth open the door.

“Hey Beth i made it just in time” i say laughing.

“You are right on time. It's nice to see an alpha that is punctual. It's a nice change”

“Who is it beth?” Ren yells from inside the house. The echo tells me she's in the kitchen, probably at the table.

“Come in hun. I'm glad we don't live on pack territory '' Beth says, opening the door more so I could walk through.

“Why is that?” I ask as I pass her.

“If we did id have to talk to the alpha about letting you pass his border which i'm sure just cause i asked he'd say no”

“Why do you guys not live on his territory?” i ask genuinely curious.

“That is a very long story, but i shouldn't be the one to tell you that maybe after this weekend you will know our history” she says walking towards the kitchen where i heard Ren's voice.

P.O.V. Ren

I look over the laptop at my sister and see Jack right behind her. I internally groan. I was hoping that he was going to be a no show today, I think to myself.

“So as you were saying Ren about where we should have it?” Beth says sitting down next to me at the table.

“I was saying until you rudely got up and walked away...that we should have it in the clearing in the woods by the waterfall behind the house. The one we used to sneak out to when we lived on pack lands”

“Ooooh i love that spot i think it's perfect. What do you think Jack” Beth asks looking over at him.

“That's where my pack has all our shifting parties. When the moon reaches its apex the moon reflexes perfectly off the water. My pack calls it the moon pool because of this...i think it's a great idea”

“What is a shifting party?” Beth asks, confused. I look over my laptop at him curious myself but he kind of explained it earlier but I'm curious if he will go on more about it.

“Well a shifting party is where, when the moon reaches its apex on a wolfs 16th birthday they shift and so to make them more relaxed we have either close family and friends or a huge group of people present during the shift what we do is when the new wolf starts to shift every wolf that is present starts to shift but slower so that the new wolf doesn't feel alone” jack explains.

“Ren i think we should do this for you since it's your first shift and we don't have mom and dad to help you through this” Beth says with a sad look in her eyes.

“What kind of stuff are you guys planning on having at this party?” Jack asks, obviously trying to change the subject.

“We’re not sure yet, i know we’re gonna have food there but we’re not sure what” Beth answers.

“Do you girls know how to grill?” Jack asks, leaning on the table.

“No we dont. Dad never got the chance to teach us how before….” I say looking down and the keyboard on my laptop is unable to finish my sentence.

“Can I ask you a question, Ren?” Jack asks to close my laptop.

“Yeah” I say looking up at him, noticing he has the most beautiful eyes.

“What happened to your parents?'' Jack asks genuinely concerned. Beth and I both sigh knowing that his question was going to come up sooner or later.

“When I was 8, we lived on pack lands right next to the pack house and one night rogues crossed our borders. Well they went right for our house. Our alpha didn't really do anything to stop what happened. They dragged us all out of our house and into the middle of the pack right in front of the pack house and told us that we would understand later when we got older that someone would come to find us one day and then they killed our parents, only then did our alpha come to help but the rogues didn't fight back they ran”

“That makes no sense but i am sooo sorry Ren, Beth...if there is anything that i can help you guys with my pack is always here to help” Jack says.

“And i know how to grill if that's something you want to do, we have a bunch of meat stored for stuff like this and i'll bring it over tomorrow and i'll start grilling…” Jack says just as his phone starts buzzing.

“I have to take this...it's my father” Jack says, standing up and walking to the living room.

I look over at Beth, confused on what's going on and why he's being so nice and offering to help someone he doesn't really know. Jack comes back into the room putting his phone in his pocket.

“I'm sorry to cut this short but my dad needs my help.. And I also need to ask him if it's okay to help you guys but I know he won't have a problem with it.”

“Okay...about what we told you not many people know exactly what happened and what the rogues said to us please don't tell anyone what we told you. Not even your family” I say concerned that something bad will happen if someone says something.

“Ren i promise on my life that i will not say anything to anyone you have my word”

P.O.V. Jack

I promise Ren that I wouldn't tell no one what they told me about their parents and i was being serious...but my father knows who caused this..we heard about this when it happened and that's why my father made me go to Rens school but now that i know that she's my mate that makes things very different. My father found out from Thomas that she's my mate and demanded that I come home and talk to him. But he still doesn't know what is going to happen on saturday.

I pull into my driveway. My father steps onto the porch with his arms crossed over his chest. I sigh and climb out of my car and start to walk up to him.

“I'm not in trouble, am I dad?” I am concerned that I won't be able to go to the Rens party tomorrow.

“No son but with the fact that this girl is your mate it changes things and really concerns me”

“Why?”

“Because someone very close to them cause that attack to happen and we still don't know who or why” he states as we walk into the pack house and head to his office.

“I know dad but what does that have todo with her being my mate?”

‘Ya i agree i dont understand what that has to do with the attack’ onyx says.

“Well with you beign her mate it could maybe put our pack in danger...but our pack is one of the biggest in the country so im not concerned with us losing alot of pack member but it could make things very hard for us”

“We have to protect those two girls dad...Beth her sis she had a mate, its the alpha of their pack but when he found out he rejected her and went with his chosen mate and he makes her do all of the work. Herwork as a beta and his work as well just so that he doesnt have to see her. Those girls get miss treated there because of them losing their parents after her birthday i want to invite her to join our pack” i say looking at my dad as he sits down at his desk and i take a seat on the couch against the wall.

“Son is that really something you would want to do, having REn join our pack would be normal but having another alphas beta join our pack might cause some issues” my dad asks.

“Yes dad im sure. Beth gets mistreated thats why i want to invite her and she can use the excuse that she cant handle being apart of the pack anymore because it kills her seeing her mate with another”

“Okay that makes sense, okay we will do that if Ren accepts you alright son. Now go get some sleep we have alot to do tomorrow”:

“What do you mean dad?”

“I am going with you tomorrow and so are some of my warriors i have to protect my future luna”

“Ooooh okay dad” i say slowly backing out of his office and running to my room and flopping on my bed. Tomorrow she will find out she is my mate i hope she accepts me
