Ten year old Blaine is standing at the entrance of the school stadium in her school uniform waiting for her parents’ arrival. Today is the National Quiz Bee championship; she is the representative of Pascal Academy and she had invited her father and mother to witness her competition. She has been standing at the entrance for about an hour and patiently waiting for their arrival. “Young miss, the competition will start in five minutes. You need to get ready.” Nanny Rose anxiously informing her. “Nanny Rose, will they come?” Little Blaine asked her Nanny Rose as her eyes are turning red as she stare outside the stadium. “They will Little Blaine, maybe they’re already on their way. Let’s just go inside for you to get ready. Okay? “ Nanny Rose patiently coaxed her. She pities the little girl. She always does her best to make her mom and dad happy and proud of her. She always tops her class and even bring honor to her school but they are always busy to appreciate her efforts. “Blaine? I’ve been looking for you. The competition is about to begin. You should be waiting in the backstage. Let’s go! You have to focus. This is the national championship Blaine. Focus!.” Mr. Mcdonnel scolded her as he found her. Little Blaine stare intently at the entrance as a tear slide down from the corner of her eyes. She’s very disappointed. They clearly promised her that they will come but where are they? The competition is about to begin but they are nowhere to be found. Little Blaine reluctantly retracted her gaze and turn to the person who scolded her. “I’m sorry Mr. Mcdonnel, I will go there right away.” Answered by little Blaine. She started walking inside the stadium and she looked back at the entrance having little hope for their arrival Reaching the backstage, she just sat there quietly and waited for the host to call her in. “Ladies and gentlemen, this is the most awaited day where students around the country competed to showcase their wit and bring honor to their school. Hundreds have joined but only three remains. Who among the three will be crown as the best among the bests? The host enthusiastically started stirring the crowd. “Hilayan Academy?” the supporters cheered and clap as the name of their school was mentioned. “Will it be Adamsons Academy? Or Pascal Academy?” the crowds cheers intensified. After the introduction of the school, the three representatives enter the stage that earned more cheers and claps from their supporter. “From Pascal Academy, Blaine Mckenzie Fleighn Scott.” The host voice pulls little Blaine from a trance and stood up. “Young miss! Goodluck and make us proud again! We’ll cheer for you.” Nanny Rose tried to cheer up little Blaine and she just nodded in response.
