Ten Days after the UP Battle
Winston Ang leaned his forearms against the panelists table on the broad stage of auditorium B. The hall was one of a dozen in Shanghai’s vast AI Research Complex that took up four city blocks in China’s premier seaport. He wore an informal light suit with an open collared shirt, and in spite of the room’s heat and humidity, he was comfortable. He believed this style paired with his maroon-tinted eyes gave him a raffish look.
He scanned the venue again. The spacious room remained mostly empty. The AI symposium’s Bigfoot presentation was scheduled to begin in fifteen minutes and only a dozen of the seats were filled. The other presenters hadn’t even shown up yet. He wondered if he would be making the presentation alone.
