Prologue

***Tobias’s POV***

The morning light woke me up. I turned over and tried to grab hold of Ivy, but I couldn’t feel her. I sat up and looked around the room. I saw her pajamas on the ground and figured she had gone down to help Rose with breakfast. I got up, got dressed and left the room. I headed down the stairs and walked into the kitchen. I saw Rose preparing pancakes for breakfast, but I couldn’t see Ivy anywhere.

“Morning Rosa, have you seen Ivy this morning? I woke up and she wasn’t in bed.”

“Yeah, she is in the training Center with her father.” I looked up at her and smiled.

“Thank you, see you later.” She waved goodbye to me and I walked over to the training center. As I walked in the doors, I saw Ivy moving some gym equipment with her powers. It was impressive, I loved watching her train. She put the equipment down and rested her hands on her knees to steady herself. She was breathing really hard and I was a bit worried. She turned and saw me standing in the doorway watching her.

“Hi my little wolf, I woke up and you weren’t there. I was worried about you.” I said to her with a smile on my face.

“Oh sorry, I woke up really early and wanted to train my powers. I didn’t mean to worry you.” she said, trying to catch my breath.

“Love, you don’t look so good, are you sure you’re okay?” She looked pale and out of breath, she started to shake and I quickly walked over to her. Ivy took a step towards me and fell to her knees.

“Ivy!” I ran over to her and caught her before her head hit the floor. She had passed out.

“Ivy baby can you hear me?” I held her close to me and tried to wake her up. I looked up at Tim and he looked just as worried as me.

“What happened? Why weren’t you watching her?” I growled at him.

“I told her to take a break, but she just kept going. She was saying that she had to train like this to protect her family, but I wasn’t sure what she was talking about.” He said and I looked down at her.

“Bloody hell Ivy, why did you push yourselves this hard?” Tim took a step back and I realized Miles was coming though. I took a deep breath to calm myself.

“Sorry I didn’t mean to get angry, she broke down last night and blamed herself for what happened to you and the rest of her family. I was just worried about her, that’s all.” I looked up at him and he had tears in his eyes.

“That wasn’t her fault, I can’t believe she blames herself. If anyone is to blame it’s my brother, he’s the one that ruined this family.” Tim growled and I could see his wolf coming through, and his hands started to glow. He started to lift into the air and the wind started to pick up around us. I held onto Ivy tightly and looked up at Tim.

“Tim, you need to calm down, we need to get Ivy to the hospital to get her checked!” I shouted so Tim could hear me over the wind he was making with his powers. He took in a deep breath and calmed down. I stood up with Ivy in my arms and we run to the Pack hospital.

“I think she has exerted too much of her energy, she is fine but just exhausted. Lily was like that as well, but she wouldn’t pass out like Ivy did.” Tim said as he followed me to the hospital.

“I think it’s because of that stuff she was injected with, it seemed to have knocked her around a bit, plus she didn’t eat anything the night before.” I told him. As we run into the hospital, Doctor Green looks up from the front desk and sees me carrying Ivy in my arms.

“Alpha, what happened?” he asked and rans over to us.

“I think she used too much of her powers and has exhausted her energy, but I am a little worried about her. After the Luna ceremony yesterday she was so tired she couldn’t keep her eyes open, she hadn’t eaten anything since lunch yesterday.” I said to him.

“Okey, nurse, can you please bring a bed round.” He waved to one of the nurses and she ran off to get a bed.

“I want to do a few tests to make sure she is okey, the ones I did the night she got taken were just a quick one to make sure she was okey.” I nodded to him and placed Ivy on the hospital bed. They wheeled her into a room and told us to wait in the waiting room until they had finished the tests. I looked over at Tim and he looked pale.

“How are you going since being here? We haven’t had a chance to talk.” I asked him.

“I’m fine, it took me a while to get that stuff they were injecting me with out of my system, but Lucy helped speed things up.” He took a deep breath and looked over at me.

“After what you said in the training grounds about Ivy thinking that it was her fault for what happened to our family, it’s not and I will talk to her about it when she is well enough, but she will continue to think that way for the rest of her life and I wish there was a way that I could tell her that none of this is her fault. I don’t even know how Jack found out that Ivy was the white wolf, unless he saw her using her powers, or he may have looked up Lily’s family tree.” Tim said, looking at his hands.

“But how could he? If he was banished from the Pack, he wouldn’t have been able to see anyone. Unless he was by the border watching your family,” I said. Tim shook his head.

“I knew we should have moved to the safe house sooner, but Lily wanted the kids to grow up around our Pack and have a normal Pack life. I couldn’t say no to that because I felt the same. I just wish I had done something about Jack after he left.” Tim breathed out deeply. I was about to say something, but Doctor Green walked into the room and came over to us. As we both stood up Doctor Green held out his hands.

“Ivy is fine, she was a little dehydrated and I have put her on an IV drip to get her fluids up, the Tetrodotoxin and wolfsbane are fully out of her system. She will be able to go home tomorrow. I would like to keep her in overnight just to keep an eye on her.”

“Thank you, doc, can I go in and see her?”

“Of course,” Doctor Green said and walked back over to the front desk.

“I’m going to head back to the Packhouse. If you need anything, let me know.” I shook Tim’s hand and headed into Ivy’s room. As I walked into her room, I had flashbacks of when she was lying in the hospital bed in Sky Moon Pack. I shook my head and walked over to her. I lent down and kissed her forehead, she stirred and opened her eyes.

“Hey love.” I said.

“Hey. What happened?” She asked in a raspy voice.

“You passed out after training, you exhausted your energy and not eating anything last night didn’t help either.”

“Oh,” She said, looking down at her hands.

“Hey it’s okey love, you will be fine.” I climbed into her bed and wrapped my arms around her, she cuddled into me and fell back to sleep. I breathed in her scent and closed my eyes.

It’s been two weeks since Ivy got out of the hospital. We made a deal that she would only train with Tim and I on Saturdays, then train with the rest of the pack during the week, so she wouldn’t overexert her powers again. She protested until Tim got involved and told her that it was a good thing because she would be building up her powers rather than drain them, in the end, she agreed, but she wasn’t happy about it. Before every training with the pack, Ivy and I would get up early and let our wolves out for a run, but this morning I had to go into the office to finalize the security systems that we were putting up. I said goodbye to Ivy and she went downstairs to meet the pack for the morning run. I was changed when I got a mind-link from Carter. You owe me one for missing out on training this morning. Charlie was not happy that I was leaving after what happened three weeks ago. Sorry Carter, but this has to be done. Don’t worry, I’m sure he will forgive you. I chuckled at him. You had better be by the car in five minutes or so help me Moon Goddess, I will kick your bubble butt to the other side of the Packlands. He grumbled at me. Yes sir. I chuckled back and he blocked me. I laughed at his grumpiness and finished getting ready. I made my way downstairs and Rose handed Carter and I a coffee and a muffin.

“Now you boys behave yourselves and be back before dinner.” She said.

“Yes mum.” We teased her before we headed out to the car. We were just about to go through the gate when a loud panicked mind-link came through to the whole Pack.
