CHAPTER 1: THE SEARCH
the context from which an uproar of applause came from was one owned by the biggest business tycoon in the city. it was quite early in the morning a perfect time to meet with the judges seated in a row ready to place their final verdict as the competition was at the last stage....
“ search your heart, and answer this simple question.
what is love?"
Jane was the first to jump up at the question her eyes glimmered blue, a little skimpy and short with a perfect smile that fitted her sparkling set of teeth . she dropped her handbag dusted her skirt and cleared her throat to answer the question.
“love is a feeling of attraction it's a rare feeling of care".
she said in one breath as she explained looking around to see if anyone followed her explanation.
Prince Nathan sat at the high table alongside Jordan calton his partner and best friend.
Jordan drew closer and gave a questionable wink with his eyes, he was sure Jane had said it all.
“she is not the one”, Nathan retorted, but only to Jordan's hearing....
while jane continued her explaining.
“dude, she is on point Jordan argued in a whisper.” A showcase of talent held with a huge prize of $1000000 award to whoever wins the best position single-handedly sponsored by Nathan son of the biggest business tycoon in California it was a good facade to get what he really wanted.
the crowd had been scrutinized to pick the best 25 candidates. now the sat in the audition room, in wait for the final knockout.
They had expected something tough and difficult, but instead the question was thrown as instructed by Nathan
“what is love?"
an applause roared for Jane, she sat in satisfaction, totally reassured that she had said it all.
James stood up next he wasn't bold enough though, but he tried to do his best to getting that money, he stood up with nervousness written all over his face, and spoke up, his voice seemed to betray him, he's fully laid plans had gone awry, but he wasn't going to lose so he managed to compose himself immediately,
“ love is not just a feeling of Attraction or care but a connection of two hearts".
he got the satisfactory nods and smiles from the ladies,
He was pretty sure he would have one or two girls at the end of the audition. he was handsome after all he thought to himself, another complete advantage. his answer was short and precise one that Jane felt smashed hers.
Catherine stood up next and blew their minds away when she said;
“love is giving someone the right to hurt
you and trusting them not to hurt you at the same time.
an applause roared and Jordan was certain that Nathan and had found the one. ...
but he shook his head in disagreement, to prove that Catherine wasn't close to what he seeks.
they all gave outstanding answers such that enlightened and got the approval of everyone except Nathan, whose approval was the one that would stand.
A lady sat at the last seat she wore a blue jacket a denim jeans pants and a strap boots. she didn't care if the chewing gum she had in her mouth caused a distraction. Her hair was well packed in a ponytail. she looked defiant and wore a rebellious expression.
she was taking photos on her phone, she appeared tough and less concerned with swag and beauty to top it.
“Hey you....”
Jordan noticed her and found it disrespectful. he looked to the direction of his fellow judges and they had the same thoughts/expression without hesitation he called-out
“what's your name?
“Doris” she replied blantantly
still seated down while she replied, Jordan felt it was rude.
“will you stand up' !! what do you think of this place?? she reluctantly stood up to face him. Jordan sighed in exasperation and turned to Nathan; ‘can you believe this girl...?
Nathan was quiet, he simply watched the show.
“come forward... Jordan went on, within a couple of delayed minute she stood up went forward and faced the high table.
“ face the audience.”
she obeyed after chuckling in mockery. it's only infuriated Jordan the more and he was now prepared to embarrass her before everyone.
“ Doris, tell everyone sitting here why you haven't contributed to the question asked".
she smiled, made a noise with her gum before she rhetorically gave her reply
“ all the answers they gave were wrong, I see no reason to add to it.”
Jordan was going to push further, but Nathan interrupted
“so then tell me, you seem to know more than you look, “what is love...?
