Chapter 17

Nick POV 

I open my eyes, they feel heavy and I'm surrounded by light. I blink a few times to adjust to where I am.  “Mate is here” Caesar says. 

“Caesar you're here I'm so happy you're back with me”. I look down and see a small figure with red hair curled into my side sound asleep. I inhale deeply taking in her scent “Isla” I say in a quiet hushed tone. But she doesn't move. I call her again this time she stirs I lean and kiss her on the head. She lifts her eyes and in almost disbelief “Nick, Nick your awake. Thank the moon goddess you're awake”. 

She straddles me bouncing in my lap in excitement. She leans in and kisses me. I feel a sensation rising in my lap, she suddenly stops, eyes widen, looking at my lap and blushing.

“What were you expecting to happen when you bounce on my lap and those exquisite breasts bouncing in my face?” I say chuckling. I grab her and pull her in close. 

“Isla what happened did we get your dad?”. 

“Yes we got him and he's awake and doing really well thanks to us. If it hadn't been for you I never would have been able to save him. He can't wait to see you. Well my mate he doesn't know it's you”. She says chuckling god I love her voice.

“Haha, well what happened to me” I ask. “I need to know”.

“You've been in a coma for 2 weeks, the 3 vampires you were fighting you killed but not before they got in a lot of damage with silver. You collapsed and I carried you and dad to the rest of the pack”. 

“Wait, you carried us both?” I ask shocked

“Yep I didn't leave your side until I got here but when we got to the hospital they found a silver knife hanging out my back” she says completely unfazed by it. 

“Wait what?” 

“Its okay, I'm fine I promise”. Look she says pulling up her top to show where the wound was. I pull her back to me and kiss the area she was stabbed in. She climbs off the bed moving towards the door.

“Ow you may want to cover yourself my parents are on the way in”. She smirks. I quickly grab the blanket and adjust myself as Lynnett walks in and John just behind her. He hasn't quite seen me yet “and you must be Islas mate” he says. 

“Yes John I am”. I see John's jaw drop. “Why didn't you tell me it was Nick?”. He comes over and pulls me into an embrace. I wince with pain as I haven't moved in 2 weeks. “Oh I'm sorry my boy  I'm so happy for the 2 of you”. Isla skips over and jumps on the bed next to me. I pull her in close never wanting to let her go. “Well seeing as we are all here” John says “Isla we never got to give you your present”. John pulls out the papers from my office for the building in the old country. Isla takes them and sits cross legged next to me. I move to give her more room but she moves close into me. 

Looking through her papers her face lights up then drops. 

“What's the matter sweetheart isn’t that your dream to move the pack back to the old country?” John says looking concerned at her rapid change in facial expression  

“Well it was until you” she says looking at me.

“Ah I see there is still a lot you need to learn about each other” John says. “We will leave you both to it” 

“What does he mean we have a lot to talk about?” 

Can we have this chat once I'm home please and showered I stink” I say getting a whiff of myself. 

Isla calls Lucy through the pack link seconds later, in she walks. 

“Nice to see you awake. I need to run a few tests and hopefully we can get you home today”.

“Great plan” Isla says beaming. A few hours pass and we are free to go. 

“So where do you live?'' Isla asks.

“I have a studio apartment on the top of my building in town. Shall we go?”, I say, gesturing to the door. 

“Sounds great and btw I'm driving and looking after you and I will only accept yes Miss Powell in response” she gives me the biggest grin. 

So I hummer her “yes Miss Powell whatever you say”. I give her a cheeky wink as we walk out. I take my time as it's been a while since I have been on my feet. 

“Wait who has run my business in my absence” I suddenly realise that no one was left in charge. 

“Ow ye, I told Amanda she's no longer bata and I gave Jack the role whilst you were away” 

“You did what?” 

“Oh no what was it you have to say, there is no arguing or you will get the silent treatment. Anyway I like Jack and he has 6 new clients for you”.

“He has?” i ask in shock. 

“Ow yeah he's real good at it you may want to watch your job” she laughs. And Amanda drools over you and nobody is getting close to my man. Plus she was a class A b***h to me or have you forgotten? I don't know how you do it in your pack but if you insult the Alpha's mate and you are in s**t big time”. 

 This woman is going to drive me mad I can tell but damn how can I stay mad at that face of hers.
