Chapter 38

1052 Words
Issac looked at the mirror as he fumbled with his collar. Does it look nice? "Does it look good?" He asked him roommate/business partner for the umpteenth time. "If I say no, will you leave me alone." Said roommate- Christian- groaned out, exhausted at being tortured for an hour straight. And they say woman take longer to dress up. They should come and take a look at his friend! Christian thought to himself. His patience a step away from an imaginary cliff. Issac glanced at the clock before heading out. 'Finally some peace.' Christian thought to himself as he slumped on the couch in delight. Issac thought of meeting Lillian at the Cafe but then thought of picking her up instead. It'd be more romantic. He highly doubted she'd think that but it didn't bother him. Not everyone has to romanticize everything, a tinge of practicality is what keeps the world spinning. He thought of what he had to say when he meets her as he stopped in front of her company. He then thought of surprising her with his presence and entered the company. If he knew Lillian, then he knew that she wouldn't turn around or stop near a car even if he screams her name she'd be far too invested with what goes on in her head than actually paying attention to what goes on around her. He often wondered what goes on in her head. He entered the firm and asked one of the person on lunch break where Lillian was, and followed the direction he was given to her office. He silently opened the door and peaked his head inside to see if she was there. Since the entire floor was on lunch break he didn't have to worry about someone calling him a creep. "You're still working?" He asked her as he stepped inside her office. Lillian looked up from her computer screen to look at him before looking back at the computer again and typing something. She hummed in response. "I thought we were supposed to meet after 37 minutes?" Lillian asked. "Yea." He said nervously, scratching his head. He knew he arrived earlier than the time he mentioned. He wanted to spend time with her. "I will just sit here and wait till you're done." He said, nervously, as he sat on the grey couch in her office. He had the whole hour planned, what he had to say, what he had to do. Hell, he even prepared a speech. But in her presence he just forgot what he had to say, becoming an awkward mess. "I will just complete this in a few minutes and we can head out." Lillian said as he scolded himself to get his s**t together. "Alright." He muttered to himself. Lillian glanced at him from the corner of her eyes only to see his shoulders slumped and him looking down at his lap. "You alright?" Lillian asked. "Do you talk to others in that tone too?" He asked in return, surprising himself at the question- having not thought of that before now. "What?" Lillian asked, looking at him. "I'm just really glad you are being yourself with me." Issac replied, giving her a thumbs up. What? Lillian though to herself. Issac heard some people with the disorder wore masks when interacting with others so they fit in. But knowing Lillian didn't change herself to fit in, made Issac really proud. "Let's go." Lillian said as she emailed her supervisor the excel sheet she was working on. Everyone in the firm could either have their lunch break from 1 to 2 or whenever they wanted, but most preferred the former. But since it was nearly 2 when they went out, some employees started to come in. Stephenie being one of them. "And there comes that rich spoilt brat- who has lunch after everyone. Attention seeking much?" Stephenie said a little too loudly, gaining annoyed looks from the ones that came back and were sitting next to her. Issac stopped in his tracks hearing her. He thought she was talking about someone else and thought of just walking by but it then became really clear she was talking about Lillian since she was the only one that didn't have her lunch break yet. He took short calculated and menacing steps towards her with a dangerous aura. "What did you just say?" He said her in a soft yet menacing tone. Stephenie squirmed in her seat when she heard his voice, fear gripping her heart. "What? You can't speak for yourself that you are having your boy toy speak for you?" She spat out at Lillian- who was standing a few steps away from Issac but was looking at him, completely ignoring Stephenie. "Can you say that again?" Issac gritted out, clenching his fist. "What? Did I say something wrong? She is just a rich brat that slept her way here. She is a rude, stuck up b***h that looks down on everyone." Stephenie spewed out more hatred, glaring at Lillian- who seemed to be looking at Isaac's hand, that was way from Stephenie's face. "What's your name again, sweetheart?" Issac asked pleasantly. "How does it concern a rich good for nothing spoilt brat like you. It's Stephenie if you're that curious." She said with an attitude as if it disgusted her yet pleased her at the same time. "Since you seem to be having a grudge against all rich people, it isn't fair for you to work under another rich good for nothing spoilt brat. I will make sure to tell your CEO just what you think of him." Issac said- faking sympathy- taking a step away from her as he showed her his phone with a mischievous smile on his face. Stephenie paled when she heard that. "I am sure he wouldn't believe you." She stuttered out, trying to appear confident but she was cracking inside. "Good thing I recorded you and you told you're name." He said, before tuning around to look at Lillian- who was watching the scene unfold infront of her. "That's illegal." Stephenie stuttered out slumping on her chair, clutching her hair in disbelief. "It's a public place." Issac said with a smirk before leaving with Lillian to the Cafe they originally intended on going.
