Chapter 6

Lena P.O.V Goddess, what the f**k is going on here? How the hell is it possible to have 2 mates who aren't even identical twins?! Or is Ryker and this Alpha guy Faternal twins that were separated at birth? No. Impossible. My old friend Romana would never lie as a kid. She always told the truth back then, even if it was embarrassing. What was more embarrassing for me was that everyone here witnessed this between us and also witnessed me almost dying from my ham and cheese sandwiche, while my mate and brother were growling viciously at eachother, about to tear each other a part at the same time my dad slapped me on my back to get the food out of my mouth that was lodged in there pretty good. Smooth, Lena, smooth. Not to mention that I was also coughing and gasping for air. As everyone quieted down. I couldn't help but look over at my mate, who was seated further away from me. His head was low, as guilt was etched on his face as he wore a frown on his face. What can he be feeling guilty of anyway? Was it the fact that he was almost shifting and had lost control of himself in front of strangers? I noticed that I had never seen him at these meetings before. Otherwise, his face would be familiar to me, but he's new here. As if he sensed me staring at him, he looked up at me, his eyes softening as he studied me. Why? Why did I have two mates? I can ask these questions over and over in my head, but I know I won't get an answer right now. "You okay, sis?" Cruiz whispers to me. I look away from my mate and look at my brother and give him a small reassuring smile and say, "Yes, I'm fine." Then, I hear a growl coming from my mate again. I roll my eyes and yell out, "He's my brother! Relax!" My mates eyes widened in shock, and then he smirked, "My apologies, miss." All the other people in the room chuckled at our short banter and continued the meeting. All were renewing their alliances. So far, no one was at war with each other, which is good, meaning this meeting will come to a close in a couple hours time but before then, we were to have a break and then come back in for lunch and in case there was anything someone had forgotten they'd address the issues and finalize the meeting over lunch. After that, everyone is free to go home. As for me, I am nervous. I barely got a chance to talk to Ryker about anything yet. I think I may have a chance to talk to this new guy here. I have to tell him that I have another mate back home. I don't like to lie unless I have to, but with my mate, I only wish to be honest. I do not believe in building a relationship with anyone based on lies. It'll never work. so, the best thing for me to do is tell him about Ryker. I owe him that truth before anything else. When I get back, I will also tell Ryker about what happened here today. I just hope we can all work something out. If anything, I've always dreamed of finding my mate and starting my life with them. I truly believe in the mate bond that was carefully chosen from our beloved goddess, and every fated mate should be treated with delicacy. I believe that is the way that the goddess has chosen our mates for us, using delicacy because things like love, friendship, parentership, and equality between a pair made for each other should be cherished always. "So, you found your mate?" My dad mindlinks me, making me jump from my thoughts. Without looking at anyone and just sipping my coffee, I answer through mindlink, "Yes, dad, but it's complicated." "What's so complicated about that? This Alpha seems nice enough." He mindlinks. "Alpha?" I asked. "Yes, and Alpha, can't you tell?" "Yeah, dad, I did sense them the moment they stepped in, but I forgot." I admitted. "So. Why is it complicated?" I sigh into my cup and take another sip and mindlink, "Because I already met my mate back in Maddies Bakery." "What?! How is that possible?!" "I don't know, dad. That's why I am confused right now. I was going to tell you both on the way back about my mate Ryker, but then this happened." I mindlink back. My dad patted my shoulder and whispered, "Always follow your heart, and if anyone breaks it, I will put them 6 feet under, I promise." I smile at my dad and bump shoulders with him, and he quickly ruffles my hair, and I pat it back down as fast as I can. I try to fix it. I look up and see my mate still observing me. He flashes me a crooked smile that makes my heart pound. He then starts talking to the other Alpha's who want an alliance with him. My brother who was listening intently to everything, which I am very proud of because usually I am the one that pays attention to everything going on. This was the first time that I couldn't concentrate at all. Not with him in the room, sneaking glances my way, every chance he gets. I have to admit, he's very handsome in a playful boyish way. His eyes though are rare, the golden tint to them when he smiles, puts butterflies in my stomach and also I am kind of jealous of his eye color, they're so pretty, especially when he also has dark eye lashes. He is currently shuffling through some files and talking to other Alphas bout something, and my eyes are glued to his strong tanned skin, while it tightens with every movement he makes as his muscle flexed as he's sorting through his files. I quickly lick my lips and look around in case someone sees me drooling over my mate, checking him out. I look to my brother, who gives me a small smile and shakes his head. Dammit, busted, he will definitely tease me after this thing is over. "Alpha Creed, is it?" My mates voice rises with authority and respect. "It's Beta Creed of North Star Pack, Alpha Lukas. My current Alpha is out with a group of warriors. He found a lead to his parents murderers, and is taking chase as we speak. I will be joining him shortly when we get back. Our current Gamma is in charge of our pack, and our Delta is patrolling. I am standing in for my Alpha and will report back to him. What is it you need, Alpha's Lukas?" My dad states loud enough so everyone in the room can hear properly. "As you probably know, I am the Alpha of Winters Pack in the big city. It is pack owned by myself. I wanted to offer your North Star Pack an Alliance." Alpha Lukas asked politely as we stared my dad in the eyes. "I am sorry I would have to decline your offer. My Alpha isn't interested in associating himself with new Allies at this time. We are simply here to renew our Allies, nothing more. I will inform him of your interests and maybe by next meeting he will be here. Please, Alpha Lukas Prinze, accept our apologies for not taking in the new Allies at the moment. This was my Alpha's wishes." Alpha Lukas gave a stiff nod, "I accept your apologies, but may I ask, what is the name of your Alpha? Beta Creed?" My dad says, "Alpha Steven." "Well, tell Alpha Steven that I would like to see him at the next meeting, and I wish him well. Thank you, Beta Creed." He nodded at my dad as my dad did a slight bow in respect. Alpha Lukas went back talking about his alliances and renewals. We are about halfway done. Each leader gets a turn to renew or gain new ones or break old ones. Each one always introduces himself and their children or their companions. So. Now I know that the second man who came with my mate Alpha Lukas is his brother Beta Weston. He also keeps sneaking glances at me. Of course, every Betas instinct is to firstly protect his alpha above all, even from their own mate. That's the type of bond most Betas have with their Alpha's, just like how Gammas have a bond with their Lunas. Speaking of Lunas, my dad was aware that I may gain a higher rank wolf considering my hidden rank. So, he did prepare me to go to the Alpha, Beta, and Luna trainin, for myself I took Elite Warrior combat and weapons training. My mom, however, put me in cooking classes, art classes, etc, while in school for all the ranking stuff. Those classes she put me in were also stress relievers from all the thinking. I got to free my mind with baking and art. My dad stood up to speak and he pulled out his files and addressed the room, "Good morning, As you all know, I am currently stand in for My Alpha Steven of North Star Pack, I am his Beta Creed, This is my eldest child, Lena and my son Cruiz of both are future Betas. I am here to renew my alpha's alliances. I have our agreements and would like to double check if necessary if our agreements need to be changed. I will call each Alpha's to see if we are renewing or breaking." After my dad spoke, the meeting was officially over, and we still had the same alliances. Nothing has changed, which is a relief on our end. Also, my dad was the last one to speak. We all abid our goodbyes around the room and left the area. Before I could walk out, I was tapped o the shoulder. I turned quickly and saw that Beta Weston was standing behind me. He smiled and said, "My Alpha would like a word with you outside in his limo before you left. Would you wait until I get you by your vehicle?" I opened and closed my mouth and then nodded as he grinned at me. I turned around quickly to see that my father was waiting for the elevator for me with a small smile on his face, he asks, "So? we wait for your mate to talk to you?" I nodded and smiled, "Yes, I have to wait by our car." "Right then, let's go." My dad says as we walk inside the elevator. I couldn't help thinking what it would be like to have a conversation with him. I wonder what he's like? I wonder if he will be mean or be one of those Alpha's who are nice in public and are mean behind closed doors. Goddess that would be terrifying, but I have heard stories out there. I will just go with what my gifts say. After all, they're hardly wrong. my instincts and wolf are also on par, so I will go with all 3. Wait, if I accept him, I'd have to move to the city with him, oh goddess.. Please, help me and guide me to make good decisions.
