Aaron kept to his word. He unfortunately he remembered to wake me up for school. After a few minutes of trying to get up, I went for a shower. I lazily went over my legs with a razor and washed my hair. I decided on wearing denim jeans and a dark blue long-sleeved shirt because it was cloudy outside again. I always felt cold or I was either outside in the snow wearing nothing but pants. I was a weird child. I put a blue stud in my nose to match my outfit. I might as well change my belly piercing. Yes, I have many piercings and a few tattoos, that's because I like them. It did look like it was going to rain. We left the hotel a bit late at 7:30. I didn't mind being late to school.
We found a Walmart close enough to the hotel. I went in to grab some pens and a few books just in case I needed them. I also found some lollipops, double checking they weren't strawberry. We were going to check out when I insisted to Aaron that I would use my own card to pay for it. I did earn money from singing gigs back in Kingston, our old town. I've always loved to sing, not that I'm good but people apparently liked it. I just did it for fun.
I exited the shops to see Aaron flipping through a newspaper. I stood next to him, reading what he was reading so we could be late. But then we heard it. A laugh. A beautiful laugh. Aaron's head snapped up and I looked up at him. He sniffed once in the air and then I caught on. Lavender and Citrus. And only one person smelt like that. I snapped my head to the left to find a beautiful woman looking down. She had fiery red hair. Holy. f*****g. s**t. No way. Aaron turned and took a step forward. Then she glanced up around her, sniffing. She smelt him too. She caught our gazes and tears started in her eyes. She stood still, frozen. It was Aaron that moved. He ran to her and caught her in his arms. His daughter reunited at last. She let out a sob and let herself put her arms around him. He held her head whispering to her. Then another scent hit me. It smelt like Rowan. I looked down to her leg to discover a small child latching onto her. He hid behind Evie’s leg. His mother... WHAT THE f**k! A child. I crouched down on my feet and held my hands out to reach him. He moved from behind his mother’s leg and looked into my eyes. Steel blue. My eyes. Rowan's eyes. He then let go of Evie's leg and started to waddle towards me. I can already tell her like walking around. He took a few steps then his small hands touched mine. So small. I bent down to pick him up. He had fiery red hair like Evie and Aaron. I turned to the side, away from Evie and Aaron. He stared and me. Then he put his head down on my shoulder like he was tired. I heard him taking in my scent. He pulled away and looked at me in shock. He pointed to his nose, then his eyes.
"Reesie." He said excitedly. "Reesie." He repeated. I chucked my head back and laughed, tears in my eyes. My hands were trembling. I looked and smelled like Reese. He turned his head to look at his mum, but she was already looking at me, fresh tears down her face. I stood there, frozen. Then I looked at Aaron, he was in shock. I moved closer to him and carefully passed the child into his arms. He sat there and stared at him, wonder in his big eyes. then I turned my attention to my mother. Evie. She looked shocked. She looked the same though, still young and beautiful. She then brought me into her arms and squeezed me tight. Then she pulled back. Her fingers brushed the tears away from my cheeks.
"Mum." I whispered as I stared into her hazel eyes. She chuckled, always laughing when I caller her my mother.
"My Deanna." She said, using my name. I jumped into her arms, realising that she is actually standing in front of me. My Mother, my Evie.
"I've missed you so much." She tried to explain. "Ever since you were ripped out of my arms I- It was like having my child taken away from me." She said and glanced at the child and just held me again. I refused to let go. She pulled back after a good 10 minutes. She looked at her dad to find him holding him.
"Kai." she said happily. "His name is Kai." Aaron looked down at him in wonder. Kai looked so curious.
"How?" I whispered. How the hell?
"Well, I hoped Dad told you about the birds and the bees but-" She started. But I stopped her right there.
"That's not what I meant!" I yelled and she laughed and laughed.
"When did you guys get here?" She asked, mucking around Kai's hair and he wiggled out of his grip.
"Yesterday, Anna was supposed to start school at, well, now." He said glancing at his watching. Kai waddled over to me and I picked him up.
"I'm not going." I said, poking Kai's face.
"Oh, you'll want to go. Come on, I can drop you off and sign you in." She said. She was definitely my mother. We walked here from the Hotel, so I followed her to her car holding Kai.
"Can you say Denny?" I asked him. Only he can say that name now.
She put our bags on the passenger seat so we could sit at the back, next to Kai. Aaron still looked shocked as he looked down at him. We buckled up and we started to drive, unfortunately, towards school. Aaron summarised where we lived for the past 10 years, but I always saw her glancing in the mirror to look at me.
"What." I finally asked her, smiling.
"You look so grown up, so much like him. Both of them." She said. I almost lost it. She's been living with Rowan and Reese then. That's why she wanted me to go to school! I smiled and looked away, probably blushing. We arrived at the school parking lot.
"Reesie!" Kai yelled, jumping up and down with excitement.
"No honey, where not here for him." She explained. Then he sunk down in his seat and stopped moving around. He was so cute!
"Reese is here." I swallowed. Here. Meaning I would see him. Evie nodded. I sat there in a panic.
"What if he doesn't remember me?" I whispered with my head down. Evie turned around at that, sorrow on her pretty face. Aaron laughed at it. So, I glared at him while I picked up Kai's hands to place them over his ears.
"It's not the same for you old man, you look the same as you did 10 years ago." I started. Evie rolled her eyes. Here we go again.
"I think it's crap. Evie remembered you, they will. You’re his sister." He bartered. I just glared at him. Then I looked down to see Kai's eyes full of excitement. I removed my hands from Kai's as I said,
"Whatever" I dismissed. He and Evie laughed, even harder when Kai joined in. Aaron put his hand to my head and messed up my hair.
"Have a good day sweetie." He joked. I took Kai's hands and put them on his ears again.
"Prick." I whispered as I leaned over to Aaron. He chuckled and his attention went back to Kai. I leaned down to him and tapped on my cheek.
"Kiss?" I asked him. He then got up and slobbered on my face with a laugh.
"Thanks little one" I whispered. Then I grabbed my bag and hopped out of the car. I followed Evie into the school and to the office.
"The school is full of Werewolves, we asked when we put Reese in a few years ago." She explained and I nodded absentmindedly. We walked in and was greeted by a lovely lady behind the front desk. She had pretty dark eyes with dark, long hair.
"Hi Angela, this is my daughter Anna, she just enrolled today." She said. She introduced me as her daughter, probably because she said Reese was her son.
"Oh, Sure! You'll have to wait 10 minutes for lunch, since your late." She explained.
"Okay, thanks." I said as I took a waiting seat with Evie. Once she sat down, she just stared at me. So I did the same. After a few minutes she said,
"When I get back to the car, I'm going to tell Aaron you're living with us." My face lit up.
"I found you." I murmured. She let out a laugh, that beautiful sound, with tears in her eyes.
"Yes, yes you did." She smiled as I lay limp in her arms. She was so beautiful, just as I remember. Rowan was lucky. We sat there for the rest of the time talking. Talking about Kai and Rowan. Reese was a touchy subject. Of course, she made me talk to her about my nose piercing. Thank the Goddess she hasn't found out about my belly piercing. When the bell rang, a young girl walked through the door. She had dark-blonde hair and pale green eyes. Evie stood up to hug me.
"I'll see you at home. I'll get dad to give me your number." She whispered. I don't know how I was getting home, but I brushed it off.
"Bye Mum." I joked and she chuckled. She pulled away and kissed my forehead. and walked out to the car park.
"Bye, Deanna." she replied. My eyes started singing. I quickly wiped my tears away to face the girl who walked in.
"First time moving to a new school?" She asked kindly.
"No, I just haven't seen my mother in years." I replied happily. We then walked up to Angela and got my schedule. I had some classes with her throughout the week, including next period.
"I'm Sophie Dean by the way." She said, offering her hand.
"Anna." I replied simply, shaking her hand.
"So you're a wolf? I'll show you were my pack and I sit. Maybe you'll have some classes with them." She stated.
"That would be great, thanks." I returned. She was very pretty, and she didn't seem like one of those high school bitches. She showed me around the way we were walking until we made it to the cafeteria. She guided me to a table at the side of the room, near the glass doors to outside.
"Hey guys, this is the new girl, Anna." She explained. They all said hello while I just smiled. She sat on the silver seat on the left side, while I sat on the right.
"Hey, I'm Michael." The guy next to me said as he introduced himself. He had brunet hair with rich brown eyes. He reminded me of Danny.
"Hi." I said, shaking his hand.
"So where are you from? You have a lovely accent." He said sweetly.
"I was born in Europe but moved to America when I was months old. I've lived all around the world." I said.
"Cool! Have you been to Spain?" He asked enthusiastically.
"Once when I was 10." I said smiling, looking nervously around the room. Michael and I got along really well; he reminds me of Danny. We exchange numbers and my Snapchat is sent all around the group. There's only about 6 people at this table. The tables next to us are filled with pack members. This must be the table full of high-ranking members.
"I'm standing in as third for the pack." Michael said. He must have read my mind.
"Aiden is beta." Mike explained, pointing so another brunet guy. He looks well-built and about 6'3. Everyone here looked so f*****g tall.
"Alpha's on a pack errand, won’t be back until Wednesday, or something like that." I nodded in understanding. I started to get to know the group well. Aiden and Sophie are actually mates, lucky. Then there's Izzy with beautiful raven hair, and Ethan, Aiden's younger brother. There all from the Crescent Moon Pack. I remember them a little from when I was younger, they were our neighbouring pack. Halfway through lunch, we were talking about what classes we have together when we were interrupted by a girl walking up to the table. She had beautiful blonde hair and dark blue eyes. She smelt familiar.
"Hey guys, I was just with- What the hell!" She almost screams. We all look up at her to see her staring at me. I didn't do anything! Right? She looked horrified. No, shocked to see me sitting at the table. Do I know her?
"Reese." She whispered. "You look like-" She stopped herself. That's what she smelt like! Reese.
"Where." I said, abruptly standing up. My palms were sweaty and my hands were shaking. Everyone was so confused.
"The fields, follow me." She read my mind. She bolted out the cafeteria and I followed. We ran down the hall of lockers and turned right. At the end of the hall full of people, there were glass doors heading outside. She ran through them and waited for me. She then pulled my arm up the steps. We were on the fields, puffing when I looked up at her. She was still shocked. Then she smiled as she faced the fields, motioning me to do that same. I started gazing to the left of the field, then to the middle. That's when I saw him.
"Want me to take these back to the lockers." One guy said, motioning to the stuff in his hands.
"Yeah, thanks, I have to find Esme." He replied. So that was her name. Esme. What a pretty name.
I took a shaky step forward. His head snapped up from the ground. He's probably looking for Esme. He's not going to remember. s**t. He took in a deep breath. I turned to Esme. She looked at me nodding, silver lining her eyes. I turned back towards the fields to see a pair of dark grey eyes. Dark grey eyes, my eyes.
I'm so scared, I feel like I'm going to be sick.
I took another step forward, my knees wobbled. His eyes went wide. He started slowly walking to me. I couldn't move, I was frozen. He was still walking; I couldn't take it anymore. I bolted for him. Running towards him. I saw his features when he got closer. Evie was right. He did quite look like me. We had the same dark-ashy hair, the same eyes. He was also monstrously tall, around 6'3 I think. I stopped in my tracks. It was him. I was home and he was standing in front of me. it was a dream. His knees buckled. He was going to fall for his knees. But I took the next few steps and slammed my body to his with a bear hug, sending us so the ground.
"Denny." He released a shaky breath. I held him so tight, that i decided right then and there, that I wasn't letting go.
"You remember me?" I sobbed, causing him to somehow laugh. Why does everyone laugh when I say that?
"I found you." I sobbed. "I found you." I kept saying. Over and over and over. I pulled back to look at him. I ran my finger from his brow to his chin.
"You look the same. Just like Rowan." I said with hoarse voice.
"You look different, Deanna." He said, using my full name as he poked the stud in my nose. I growled in response. But he only laughed harder. Then, I elbowed him right in the ribs. He growled back.
"Darius." I countered and he chuckled. I probably missed this most of all. Our sibling banter, our silly fights. He pulled me into a hug until we realised Esme and my new friends were watching from the side. I got up and gave him a hand to get up. He put an arm over my shoulder as he walked us back the group of wolves watching.
"Hey man." Aiden said, shaking hands with Reese. "Care to explain?" He continued with a smile.
"This is my twin sister." He smiled happily. But I glared up at him, he better not use my name. He only chuckled. "Anna." He finished his sentence. Everyone looked shocked.
"But we thought she was-" Michael started, staring at me.
"Dead? I kinda did too," He started, facing me. "Mum sent a message about Aaron but didn't mention you." He said frowning.
"It's been years brother, but you should know I like dramatics." I replied. He only rolled his eyes with a smile.
"Dramatics." Michael said with a horrible English accent. This made me laugh. He was literally like Danny! It made everyone laughed. We made it back to the cafeteria table when Reese pulled me aside. He walked out the glass door and we found a table under a tree.
"I want to see it." He said while looking down at his hands.
"See what?" I asked confusingly. I tapped on the left side of his torso. He wanted to see my scars. I nodded and slowly stood up. I lifted my shirt up to the bottom of my sports bra. My whole side was on for show. He stared at it, sorrow in his eyes. There was a bite marks littered all over my ribs and claws marred through my skin. I wasn't ashamed of it at all. I liked my scars, they were a part of me after all.
"I'm sorry." He whispered. Now I was confused.
"Whatever for?" I said sitting down once more.
"For that, for everything, for not trying to find you. I did try, but Rowan said it would attract more rouges. Then a month ago, they all disappeared and Rowan was trying to find Aaron." He explained. I got up and hugged him.
"You don't need to be sorry. It was my fault I got hurt, that we were forced to separate," I said quietly, but before he could interrupt, "I missed you all so terribly. I couldn't even think of your names." I finished quickly. I started to that pain in my chest again. Like a shard of ice pierced though my heart. I instinctively started rubbing it. But when I looked at Reese, it all went away. After a while it was silent. Just us two staring at each other in disbelief.
"I met Kai." I blurted out. A smile spread out on his face.
"You did?" He asked.
"Yeah, it seems you are his favourite." I said. But before he could open his mouth. "I think I'm about to change that." He dropped his smile from his face, but I could see it in his eyes.
"You wouldn't." He smirked.
"I don't know, I think he will love Auntie Denny." I replied. He chucked his head back and started a laughing fit. We walked back to the table in the Cafeteria. When the well rang we all went to our classes. Next was maths, but it wasn't with Reese. So I said goodbye and walked to my next class with Izzy. We took seats in the back of our classroom. We were later joined by Michael.
"Ugh, too bad Bell isn't here, I would be copying off of him right now?" She groaned.
"Bell?" I questioned.
"Oh, my cousin Jace, Bell is just a nickname. He's the Alpha," she explained. The Alpha? "He's just a whiz at maths and I always copy him."
"Well copy off of me then." I smiled. She got excited at that. After class we walked back to the Cafeteria. For some reason, I found myself thinking about Jace. Who was he? His name made my head fuzzy. After I sat down, Reese came up to me.
"Hey Anna, I called Evie and she said we can come home early." He said. A big smile crept onto my face. Home. I was starting to figure out what that was. I stood up and grabbed my stuff. He walked to the other side of the table and kissed Esme and murmured something in her ear. Then we made our way to the parking lot.
"Mines the black Corvette, just wait there." He said as he walked into the office to tell them we were leaving. I walked outside and scanned the lot. I walked over to the black, shiny corvette and leaned on the side. I started to feel sick. Going home meant seeing Rowan. I opened my back and pulled out a Candy Cane. I stood there for a good minute before Reese walked out.
"I hope you have one for me." He smiled. I rolled my eyes but gave him one anyway. I instantly hooked my phone up to the aux cord and played music. I sang all the way to the house they were staying at. It was a different one, but it looked familiar. As he parked the car on the lavish driveway to the big house, I got out of the car. The door burst open and out came a running Kai. He jumped into the arms of Reese excitedly. I walked over to the both of them, raising my brows. Kai then leaned towards me; arms open. Reese rolled his eyes and I poked my tongue out, proving my point about Kai's favourite. He then led me into the house and towards a room what looked like a living room. I set Kai down and he went running into somebody's arms.
