Rowan. The brother that raised me as his own child, not his little sister. He was now standing in front of me. The name dark-ashy hair, [piercing silver eyes. It almost seems impossible. Sitting behind him was Evie and Aaron. Aaron stood up and stalked to my side, where Reese was standing. They were the first to leave the room. Evie then stood up and stalked to Rowans side. She gently took Kai from his arms and kissed him on the cheek. She then walked up to be to press a kiss on my forehead before she walked out and closed the door behind me. Rowan was standing a few steps away from me, eyes wide open. I stood there, marvelling the impossible sight in front of me. Rowan stalked up to me and caught my forearms, holding me steady. I looked up to stare into the eyes of the man that was my father figure. A pained noise came out of my throat. His fingers traced my brow and I looked into his eyes. Filled with sorrow and relief. Another strangled noise came out of me. I completely fell into his hold. My legs weren't working.
"I've missed you." He finally said. His voice was rough and taunt. Tears fell uncontrollably out of my eyes. He pulled back, steadying me on my own feet. He wiped a tear away.
"I'm so sorry Anna. I'm so sorry." He began as he buried his face in my hair, to take in my scent.
"Why is everyone sorry, what for?" I finally said as I stepped back and rubbing my face clear of tears.
"I'm sorry I didn't get to you in time." He started to explain, but I cut him off.
"That doesn't matter, Reese would have gotten hurt." I stated. But he shook his head,
"No, Denny. I felt like I had to choose. I felt like I was choosing to hold Reese then go after you. And I'm so sorry. It was like having to choose one child over the other. It was the worse feeling ever and I'm sorry." He started to plea, silver lining his eyes. But I didn't understand. He had no reason to feel sorry and certainly no reason to feel this way.
"You don't need to feel sorry. It was my fault; I went after Leah." I tried to explain, but it didn't work.
"I don't care Denny. I want you to know that I'm sorry. I love you so much." He said and I nodded. I had trouble with those words. The last time I did, I was around 11 and we were visiting France.
But I found myself saying it anyway. "I- I love you too." He stepped out of our embrace to look at my face. Like he knew I was hesitant but said it anyway. We stayed like that for a couple of minutes. He then tried to wipe his face before he stalked to the door.
"Come on, let’s go see everyone." He said happily. He looked happy, in absolute bliss. We walked out to cross the hallway where everyone was sitting. Aaron and Reese were catching up while Kai was playing around with Evie. He made his way to Evie and kissed her on the cheek while taking Kai into his arms. I stood there, frozen. This was home. And know that I knew what it was and what it meant; I couldn't move. The pain in my chest started burning and I rubbed a hand over it. Aaron got up from his chair and walked over to me. He took my in his arms before whispering,
"It's okay Denny, you're fine." It didn't feel like it, but I was going to snap. He stepped out of our embrace and stood beside me. Rowan put Kai down onto the ground, after squirming around like a worm. He then waddled his way over to Reese. Reese stretched out his leg and Kai managed to climb up it, onto his lap. Kai stood there, like he was expecting something. Then Reese pulled something out of his pocket. Candy.
"Lollies!" Kai squealed. He took a handful of lollies out of his hand. But before he could escape Reese's hold, he pulled him back.
"What do you say?" He smiled.
"Thank you!" Kai said, or tried, to say. He then slipped from his lap and he disappeared from the view of the table. He stalked out the other end and stood still put a singular lolly in his mouth. He then stalked up to me and put his hand out. I picked him up from the ground and settled him on my hip.
"Thank you." I said as I took an orange lolly from his hand and put it in my mouth. Evie laughed along with Rowan.
"Hey! What about me." Aaron said, trying to look sad. Kai laughed and opened his hand before Aaron took one.
"Thank you." He said and I chuckled. I loved this and I love them. Even know I only met Kai this morning and I loved him.
"Come on, I'll show you around." Evie said as she took my arm in hers. Still carrying Kai, she showed me the first level which had the kitchen, living room and dining room with an extra bathroom. Upstairs there was a few rooms lined up down the hallway. We walked down the stairs and took the left way first. There was Evie and Rowan's room and Kai's room. At the other end was Reese's room, and across from it would be mine. Next to Reese's room was Aaron's. She told me Aaron got all our stuff from the storage unit and all of my stuff was in boxes in my room. Thankfully, this house was big enough. It wasn't really a house, more like a mansion. Or a mini pack house. As soon as you walked into my room there was a kind-sized bed in front of a massive window. To the left was my closet and bathroom. That's right! I got my own bathroom and closet! Evie took Kai so she could leave me to settle into my new room. I started unpacking the boxes and tried putting everything in its place. I'm not that much of a clean freak, I usually just chuck my clothes all over my room. About an hour had passed when I unpacked most of the boxes and decorated my room. I put most of my clothes and shoes in my closet. I did have a big shoe collection. There was a vanity type desk in my room that I could use to put stuff on. By the time I was sick of unpacking I walked downstairs to see Evie, Rowan and Aaron sitting around the table with Kai on Evie's lap. As soon as I took a seat next to Rowan, Kai climbed over him just to sit in my lap. I sat him up against my chest and started poking around his face while he squealed and giggled.
"She's a handful, this one is." Aaron started. I shot daggers at him with my eyes. Rowan chuckled. I grabbed Kai's hands and put them over his ears.
"I could say the same for you, old man." Evie laughed at my boldness and Rowan nodded his head in agreement. He started to ramble on and on about my bad habits. My long showers, blasting music and how I'm the opposite of a morning person.
"She sounds like a normal teenager." Evie said finally said.
"Thank you!" I practically yelled before she went on,
"Reese is the same. He was a handful, and Goddess knows Rowan couldn't handle him." She laughed. Rowan looked betrayed.
"I think I did pretty well." He mumbled more to himself. Evie started a laughing fit.
"Well, I can't wait until this one grows up." I said, poking Kai in the nose. He tried to give me an angry face before he started laughing.
"I can." Rowan said, poking Kai in the ribs, making him squirm.
"Dinners going to be ready soon, I suggest you all shower." Evie said standing up. She reached for Kai but he screamed and jumped off my lap.
"Why did you say that, I'm never going to catch him!" Rowan rolled his eyes, frustrated. Evie laughed it off and walked up the stairs. Kai was hiding under the table until she left. He then slowly crawled out and reached for my lap and picked him up.
"You know, I love baths." I said to Kai. He frowned in distaste.
"Maybe a little bit too much." Aaron said before standing up. Rowan laughed before he stood to grab Kai from my lap before he ran again.
"Come on little one." He sighed. We walked up the stairs until we parted ways to our own rooms. Kai kept squirming like a worm in Rowans arms. He did not like baths. I went into my room and reached for my phone. As usual, my phone is full of messages and missed calls from Danny and Emily. I Snapchat Danny first because I know me and Emily would take too long on the phone. And we did. We spent half an hour talking about my new school and my family. She sounded so happy for me and I was grateful. Then my inbox was spammed by Danny. I realised that dinner must be ready, so I jumped in the shower. After about 10 minutes, I stalk to my closet for my pj's. I chose long black and red sweats and a black singlet. I wonder downstairs to explore. Then I was attacked by little Kai, after he had a bath. Everyone was at the table but me and Reese. I chose a seat by Rowan and sat Kai on my lap.
"Nice." He said smiling, tapping on my pack tattoo on my collar bone.
"It's not my only one." I whispered and glanced at Evie. Even though you can already see most of them.
"I won't tell her." Rowan murmured back. I laughed, even though the tattoo on my back was already visible. I missed him.
Dinner was steaks and salads. I let Kai have some, even though he already ate. Reese joined us later, saying he needed to talk to Esme. When we were done, I went to get up and put Kai on my hip.
"What is that?" Evie asked, shooting daggers at my stomach. I look down to see Kai's leg as pulled up my shirt to reveal my belly piercing.
"Thanks buddy." I muttered to Kai as I sat him down. He ran straight for an already laughing Reese. I shot him an agitated glare.
So I simply stated, "It's a piercing." I crossed my arms.
"I can see that." She said, side glancing at Aaron.
"She got it without my knowledge." He defended himself, hands surrendering in the air. I walked over to her and kissed her on the cheek, trying to soften the blow.
"Night." I said to everyone. Only Reese and Rowan replied. I got a kiss goodnight from Kai, then I stalked up the stairs. As soon as I was out of sight, Evie exploded Aaron with questions. I laughed to myself. Payback.
I was sitting in my room a few minutes after when I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in." I lazily yelled. It was Reese that walked into my room and plopped onto my bed.
"Nice one out there, Aaron was really getting hammered." Reese chuckled.
"That's what happens, Darius." I said, sitting up. He scoffed in annoyance. He then stared at me for a solid minute.
"I really missed you." He admitted.
"I missed you more." I replied smiling, earning myself a hug from my brother.
"Liar." He whispered. There was no way he missed me more than I missed him. We stayed up in my room, talking about everything we missed until we both fell asleep and I was dreaming of piercings, tattoos.
----
This morning I was awakened by a small cub, jumping up and down my bed. I groaned and kicked Reese's off mine to sit up to see Evie leaning on the door frame.
"That's for the piercing." She said, smiling evilly.
"That's fair." I countered as I grabbed the jumping pup and wrapped him in my arms. It didn't take long for him to fall asleep. Me either. This time I was awakened by a pillow thrown in my face.
"Mum told me to wake you up." Reese said smiling. I looked down to see Kai sleeping in my arms. He then woke up and flew off the bed and into Reese's arms. It seems like Reese is quite a morning person. How very opposite to me. I climbed out of bed to see it was 7am. I quickly had a shower. Not quickly it was about 20 minutes long. I looked outside to see it was still quite cloudy. My wolf seemed excited to go to school today. But I was still lazy, so decided on black leggings and a red long-sleeved shirt. I changed my belly piercing to a black one. I chucked a hoodie on top because I didn't want to get bothered on my outfit choice by Aaron. I slid my red Vans on and grabbed my bag for school. I took a final look in the mirror. I left my hair in a low pony tail, stray hair falling over my face. My outfit looked retro and I loved it. I made my way downstairs for breakfast. Kai was climbing like a monkey all over Rowan's shoulders. Rowan was busy studying random documents and was content on leaving him there. I sat next to Reese and helped myself to some fruit. I could live off that stuff.
"Cute." Evie said smirking, complementing my outfit like she knew why I was really wearing the hoodie.
"Thanks." I smiled back. I was feeling rather happy this morning, and it wasn't normal. Aaron gave me a lingering look, but I ignored it. It was time to leave for school and I got a kiss on the cheek from Kai. I loved that over-energetic cub. I said goodbye to a lingering Evie as I stepped into Reese's black corvette. At least he had a good taste in cars. I plugged my phone into the aux and started playing music. There was everything from depressing songs, to rock music in my playlist. By the time we arrived at school, I grabbed two lollipops out of my bag. Naturally passing one the Reese. He took it with a neutral expression as we stepped out of the car. We met Izzy and Esme out the front as we walked inside. I did have some eyes on me walking down the halls, but they were probably just gaping at me because of how much I looked like Reese. We made it to the table and in sat in between Michael and Izzy. We all looked at our schedules and I had English first with Reese and Izzy and then Biology with Reese and Michael. It looks like they can put siblings in the same class. They probably didn't know though. We sat at the back of the class for English in first period when Izzy suddenly sat up and turned to us.
"Jace is back today." She said happily.
"Cool, I need to talk to him." Reese replied. English was quite boring, and my mind kept wondering to whoever this Jace guy was. I was quite tired from tossing and turning all night that I propped my legs up onto Reese's chair.
Reese gave me a questioning look. "It's uncomfortable." I admitted. One thing about me is I can't sit still for so long, let alone stand. I need to put my legs somewhere or lean on someone.
"I'm cold." Izzy complained as she nuzzled into my heat.
"Here, have my hoodie. I was meant to take it off anyway." I sat up and took off my black hoodie.
"Thank God, I was going to freeze." She complained, teeth chattering. I laughed and leaned back onto her. I liked how comfortable I was around these people, it seemed natural. By the time the bell rang, I nearly dozed off. Reese and I parted from Izzy and walked all the way to Biology, basically joined at the hip.
"If it isn't my favourite twins. How was your morning Love?" Michael said in a mocking English accent. Reese and I laughed.
"Not bad. You?" I replied. He went on about how his morning was extremely boring and he was waiting for something eventful to happen. I was too, I was very bored. We took our seats at the back and I fell asleep about halfway through the lesson, mostly because it was boring listening to the teacher talk on and on about stuff I already know. I was leaning into Reese's side, legs on Mike's chair when the bell rang, but I was only awoken when Michael moved, causing me to fall. I got up straight away and punched him in the arm.
"Okay! Jeez woman." He complained, rubbing his arm. He deserved it. We slowly made our way to our table in the cafeteria. Sophie and Aiden were already in a conversation with Katie and I saw Ethan, Aiden's younger brother listening to music. I sat down next to him while Reese joined me on the other side. We started reminiscing about random things and I ended up sitting, hugging my knees. A random wolf came up to him and started to talk about football so, I turned to see Ethan listening to music, looking frustrated.
"What are you doing?" I asked him curiously.
He gave up and shoved his phone on the table. "My music is shit." He frowned. I laughed at the frustration and turned his frown into a small smile.
"Here, use mine." I offered. He motioned me to use his phone and I searched my playlist up on Spotify. it already had a few hundred followers. I gave it back to him and turned back to Michael and we started talking about music when I glanced over my shoulder at Ethan.
"Your playlist is sick." He said smiling.
"I know." I replied with a grin. A few minutes passed when a few more people joined us. It started getting cold and I saw Izzy outside, still wearing my hoodie. I got up and moved towards the glass doors to outside area. I opened the glass door and turned to Izzy.
"Tell me." I rough voice said.
"You need to chill Bell, it's just-" I was about interrupted her. I didn't care, I was cold.
She whirled around anyway and then the smell hit me. It smelt like the forest and rain, almost musky. Then I focused my attention behind her. A pair of teal-green eyes met mine. Sparks flooded my entire body.
What the hell?
