The morning sun filtered through the tall windows, casting soft light across the room. I stood by the window, holding my phone to my ear, listening to Annalisa’s laughter on the other end. It was warm and sweet—like sunlight after a long storm. I smiled, leaning my shoulder against the wall.
“I talked to the decoration team yesterday,” I told her. “They’re going to start setting up the ceremony area tomorrow.”
“Oh?” she sounded surprised. “What theme did you go with?”
“Gold and cream,” I said. “You mentioned once you liked warm tones, remember?”
She laughed. “You remembered?”
“I remember everything you say,” I replied honestly.
There was a soft pause. Then her voice came through, even warmer. “You’re being sweet today.”
“Only today?” I teased. “I’m always sweet.”
