The bell rang across Royal Crest High, echoing through the polished hallways filled with laughter, gossip, and expensive perfume.
Mia Lawson kept her head down as she walked, clutching her books tightly to her chest. She didn’t belong here—not really. Scholarships got her in, but survival kept her quiet.
“Careful,” Stella Hart teased beside her, flipping her perfectly styled hair. “You look like you’re attending a funeral instead of school.”

Behind him, a girl appeared—beautiful, elegant, confident.
She slipped her hand into his arm like she belonged there.

“Ethan,” the girl purred. “You didn’t wait for me.”
