CHAPTER TWO

Elena woke up bathing in sweat, again she saw Sanya but this time she was pleading to me not kill her.

Bending her knees towards her chest, she start sobbing, her chest feel tight. It’s been a month since Mrs. Estrella came to her house, and her questions were still unanswered.

Before Mrs. Estrella sudden visit, Elena never really mind her nightmares even though it made her sleepless after dreamed about it but, Ever since Sanya’s death, Elena began to feel anxious and it is growing stronger that sometimes whenever she saw red liquids like catsup she freaked out.

Elena cried for an hour before feeling a bit calm, she glance at the clock in her bedside table. She huffed when she saw it’s 2 o’clock in the morning yet she doesn’t want to sleep again, afraid to have another nightmare again.

“What now?” she whispered weakly. Elena dropped body back to bed. She spend remaining hours till sunrise staring in her room’s ceiling. Her questions is the only thing that lingers in her mind, she wants to share what is in her mind to someone but she had no one to talk to.

When the sunrise came, Elena force herself to get up to get ready for school. Elena is attending Edmonton one of the prestigious school in their city, and she is in her sophomore stage in high school. She just able to attend to the University because of her late Daddy Alfred who used to be the vice principal of the University.

Elena started to attend school in a very late age of 14-year old, and she now is 21-years old but she is still in her high school because she once was a street children with just a name of Elena Mirabello and no memories whoever she is and where is her family.

An old couple adopted her when they accidentally bumped her with their car when she was about to cross the road on her way to the park to collect used bottles and cans from the trash that she can exchange for money to buy herself something to eat.

The old couple adopted her, but didn’t changed her name and surname as she asked to them, hoping that someday her real parents will gonna find her.

The old couple treated her like their own child for they didn’t get a chance to have one, because of her Mommy Dan, her 60- year old foster Mom has a weak heart and it is dangerous for her to conceive a child. But, even though her Mommy Dan can’t conceive a child her Daddy Alfred, her 65- year-old foster father, loved her Mommy Dan so much that it is okay for them not to have a child, afraid that it will only put her Mommy Dan in danger.

But recently her Mommy Dan died from heart attacked and her Daddy Alfred died after because of so much grieve from her Mommy Dan.

Again, she was left behind, alone with no family, but even though her foster parents was able to left her money, an old lancer and a house where she is living right now as an inheritance.

Elena is walking from the school corridor on her way to her class when she felt someone’s hand on her back, she saw Candice smiling naughtily at her.

“Good Morning Elena! On your way to class?” Candice her classmate asked, her naughty smile is still plastered on her face. Elena just plainly nod.

“Hmm…Alright!” Candice said.

Elena was about to step on the her way to her class when someone throw her a crumpled paper then, another and another until she lost the count of the crumpled paper that was throw into her.

Elena just continue her steps not minding the other students throwing crumpled paper at her. Elena is used to be bullied at school, ever since she started to attend school when she was 14-years old.

Other students is bullying her for being too old to attend school, and it’s getting worse when they found out that she once was a street child, telling her that she doesn’t belong to attend their school and she’s being weird for not talking to others and being always alone having her own world. Elena just then because she is too timid to stop them.

When Elena arrived in her classroom, one of her classmate took something on her back, and show it to her.

“ Throw me! ” Elena read softly what indicates in it.

“Dumb!” Elena heard her classmate who gave her said then, rolled her eyes then left her like she did nothing. Elena just smile turning her gaze to her classmate that is already seating in her own chair.

Lunch time, Elena is eating her lunch in her favorite spot where she can eat alone when Candice suddenly sit at the table where she is eating.

“Wow! Your food looks tasty but it is a bit bald don’t you think? Hmmm.. Want me to improved your lunch?” Candice said in a naughty tone.

“No thanks, I’m good with my food.” Elena answered in a polite tone then smile gently, that made Candice smirk.

“ Uh..uh..uh..I won’t take no for an answer.” And before Elena could react Candice put a lot of hot sauce in Elena’s food.

“ There! Your food is not bald anymore!” Candice said in glee like she did something nice, while staring at Elena’s shock face, she saw Elena’s hand tremble and that made Candice smirk even more. “Server’s you right! Peasant!” she said in her head, then left Elena still trembling on her table.

Candice laugh really hard with her hand in her stomach when she heard Elena started to scream hisyerically.

She knows Elena had a thing with red liquids because she once saw it freaked out in their chemistry class three weeks ago when one of their classmates accidentally bump his elbow to a breaker that has color a red colored chemical in it that made the beaker broke and spill the content of it on the floor.

From then Candice knew Elena’s has a thing for red liquids. Candice doesn’t really have an intention to made fun with Elena but, she accidentally saw Elena’s eating alone here in school green house garden on her way to the cafeteria. And a naughty thought suddenly popped inside her mind, so she decided to made fun with her and it was worth it.

Candice stop laughing when she heard a footsteps behind her. She turn to face to know who it is, and she saw Elena is standing. She smiled at Elena and smile turned into laughter again, she just can’t get enough after seeing Elena’s epic face a while ago.

“Are you done laughing? Geez! Your laugh sounds irritating.” Elena said mockingly while her right pinky finger is in her ear that it seems like she’s cleaning something that is stuck in it using her pinky. That made Candice stop from laughing.

“Now! It seems your done.” Elena said again and this time in a playful tune. Elena plastered her mischievous smirk, that made Candice irritated.

“Peasant! How dare you to smirk at me like that?! You good for nothing loser!” Candice said irritatingly, that made Elena smirk grew wider.

“ I like what have you did back there! Thanks to you, I will be able to see death again.” Elena said playfully.

Elena’s eyes, smirk and tone started to bring chills to Candice, for it is cold now, no emotion will see in Elena’s eyes now. Her mischievous eyes and tune sounds dangerous. This is not Elena she knew! But who is this person in front of her?! Maybe Elena is pranking her to scare her.

“Yeah! Right!” Candice said in her mind. Thinking about that Candice chills disappeared.

“Okay Elena! You entertained me enough.” Candice said smirking.

“Oh..! but not me, how unfair of you.. it is supposed to be give and take right? I entertained you, so you must entertain me as well.” Elena said in a playful yet dangerous tone, and for the second time Candice started feel the chills.

“Oh.. and by the way can you stop calling me Elena? That may be this kid’s name but I have my own name you know.” Elena said afterwards that made Candice eyebrow frowned in confusion.

“Lena is the name by the way and it’s nice to meet your death.” Elena said with a mischievous smile that bring Candice not chill but, horror.
