CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR

“Can I asked now, what are we doing here?” Elena started asking as soon as they finished their breakfast.

“Lena set up this up, after Dana’s father kidnap as three days ago.” Ms. Estrella started explaining.

“What do you m-mean, you got kidnapped!?” Elena asked in shock, can’t believe what she heard.

Ms. Estrella nod in response, and caress Elena’s  arm to calm her down and said, “Lena, helped us up, she saved us yesterday.”

“T-Then what does it have to do with them, w-why are they h-here?” confused, she asked pertaining to Dana and the woman who look very much alike Dana.

Dana on the other hand, was getting confused as she heard the conversation between Elena and Ms. Estrella, and on how Elena is so different today, from her eyes, attitude and behavior, she can say that the Elena she knew is back.

Dana, turn her gaze to Dr. Monte who is now eyeing her, like he reads what is on her mind. Though its given for he is a psychiatrist.

“Lena saved Dana the day that you came to see your parents, and also her mother.” she heard Ms. Estrella said to Elena that made her more confused.

Hearing their conversation, makes her mind in chaos as confusion succumbs her, for Ms. Estrella seems pertaining Elena as Lena before, but now she is calling Elena. And they are talking Lena like she was a different person when the truth is Lena is also Lena, though the Elena they are with before was more different than Elena infront of them.

As Ms. Estrella explained to Elena everything from the start, che can see how Elena listening intently like she was not with them when everything happened.

After breakfast Dana found herself in lanai after she tuck her mother to the room they occupying.

“You harmed me, why did you do it?” she heard a gentle voice asking behind her.

As she turn her gaze she saw Elena standing behind her, staring at her with her gentle eyes, gone the cold ones before. She didn’t even felt Elena’s presence, she thought.

She felt Elena moving and now making her way to the vacant seat one meter from her, and she watch how Elena sat there gently.

Dana find herself heave a sigh before answering Elena’s question, “I told I have no choice, he had my Mom.”

Turning her head to Elena,  she saw her nodding and turn her gaze far away.

Heaving a sigh for a second time she find a courage to asked Elena what is bugging her, “how about you? You seems different from before.”

She watch Elena expression change as she turn her gaze  back at her.

“Your warm, gentle, you look like the Elena I used to know, unlike before that your too scary to look at.” She commented

Elena look at Dana as she heard her comment to her, she is contemplating whether to reveal about her multiple personality to Dana or not.

“I have split personality.” She revealed to Dana, and look away.

“My split personality named Lena, and as you had said she is quite scary.” Elena confessed and turn her gaze back to Dana who is currently rooted from where is she seated.

“H-How?” Dana asked after she recovered from Elena’s revelation.

“Just like how dissociative cases started.” she replied for she doesn’t want to explain much for now, but maybe later.

“I hope I did answer what you are curious about.” she said. “I need to go.”

But when she was just taking a few steps, Dana spoke, “wait!”

“There is one more thing I am curious about.” Dana said making her halt from leaving.

“You know Leonel right? That obsessed bastard.” Dana asked in annoyed voice that made Elena turn to Dana.

“H-How did you know him?” she asked after facing Dana.

Leonel had harm them and she can’t believe he’d done it to her, and just disappear just like that without even apologizing to her.

“He’s my brother.” Dana replied.

“He disappeared the day he came to you and just recently, my father’s men found his body. Maybe that’s why my father wants to harm you. He might thinking that you have something to do with his bastard son’s death.” Dana stated making Elena gasped from the information.

“D-Dead? Leonel is d-dead?” she asked as a tear escape from her eyes.

She can’t believe it, Leonel is dead. Leonel might harm her but she felt sad as she heard what Dana said about his brother, for Leonel has been a friend to her even for a short time. If  its just he didn’t became possessive and didn’t harm them, they might be still friends until now.

Elena left Dana after that, as her head suddenly began to ache, and decided to go to the room she’s occupying.   

As she entered the room, she mourned about Leonel’s death but was cut when her phone that is place on the side table rang. Her brows knotted as she saw registered number named Mr. Vaughn in it. She never remember putting such a number on her phone contacts, she thought.

Slowly, she accepted the call, “H-Hello?”

“Miss Elena, I just want to inform you that, Raffy had escaped, for now just stay to where you are and let me solve it.“ Mr. Vaughn said over the phone that made Elena confused.

“By the way have you already read the letter that your parents had for you?” she heard again that Mr. said.

“’W-What do y-you mean, and w-what letter?” she asked with her head in chaos about the things that the man over the phone is saying.

“The one that I give you when we met in my office.” Mr. Vaughn replied.

Then she suddenly thought about Lena, and starting to check everything inside the room. She halted when she saw an envelop with seal of MC that the man might pertaining.

“I-I got it, I-l will going to read it now.” She said over the phone while staring at the envelop she is holding.

“Okay, bye for now Miss, I will send some of my men, there to guard you. Take care.” Mr. Vaughn responded before ending the call.

“Okay.” she said even the call has ended.

Elena stared at the envelop she was holding that she had got from her jacket, and was about to pull it completely when something dropped while she is taking the envelop.

She that it was a necklace, and she immediately pick it up. The necklace seems old yet it is still fascinates her, and also it seems familiar as well, but she can’t remember where she saw the necklace.

The necklace is gold with a thin chain and a butterfly pendant with a ruby stone in the middle. Where did I saw this? I am sure that I already seen this somewhere. She thought.

And as she can’t remember, she just put the necklace back to the jacket and took the envelop instead. The envelop seems in a years age as well for it is already yellowish. Elena went to her bed and sat there with the envelop.

Reaching the cutter she saw on the bedside table, she carefully opened the letter.

A tear escape through her eyes as a photograph of a family revealed inside the envelop together with a paper. The family in the picture seems so happy and full of love for their eyes are twinkling form happiness.

Elena found herself, caressing the photo where the man in suit is carrying a child while there both kissing the child on her cheek, while the child’s little arms are around the couples neck, while smiling so sweetly.

She felt her tears continuously stream down to her cheeks as she stared at the photo.

“Mommy, Daddy.” She uttered as she flip the photo and she began to sob as she saw what is written in it.
