Mary followed Sarah until she was no longer in sight, an adult’s smirk playing on her lips. It was all working like planned. She had managed to separate Sarah and James forever. But as she was abandoning the place, she noticed James standing there, looking lost and suffering. “Mary, what’s going on?” “What has made Sarah leave so abruptly?” Without it, it was obvious, Mary shrugged her shoulders. “Not sure, James… Perhaps, she just praised herself for thinking of you.” James looked at her with scrutiny. “You were involved in this, right?” Mary laughed in a cold, calculated manner. “What are you saying, James, why do you baffle me with such absurd statements?” James shook his head as if the foolishness of that idea had just hit him. “You are a manipulative liar, Mary, and that’s it. I am done with you. ” Mary widened her smile slightly, mainly due to the absence of any emotion or any attitude that had conquered her. “Oh, James. I don’t know why you are being so paranoid. I am concerned about your well-being and that is the problem.” But there was no point in trying, since by now James had already turned toward the exit and was walking out, leaving her behind. Mary’s smile came back but in an even wider and more confident manner than before. Victory was in her hands. Coverage and revenge against Sarah’s and James’s feelings towards each other had been done and gone unpunished. And as she walked away, she felt emotional satisfaction and a very good pride possessed by her. She had played. She had won. But little did she know her victory would be short-lived. Sarah and James would eventually find their way back to each other, and Mary's schemes would be exposed for all to see. But for now, Mary just basked in the glory of her triumph, her heart full of malice and her mind full of plans for her next victim. As Mary walked away, she felt a sense of satisfaction wash over her. She had finally gotten what she wanted - Sarah and James were no longer together. But as she turned the corner, she ran into Emily, Sarah's best friend. "Mary, what did you do?" Emily demanded, her eyes blazing with anger. Mary feigned innocence, but Emily was having none of it. "Don't play dumb with me, Mary. I know all about your little scheme. You manipulated Sarah into breaking up with James, didn't you?" Mary shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "I don't know what you're talking about." But Emily wasn't buying it. "You're a toxic person, Mary. You need to stay away from Sarah and James. They deserve better than someone like you in their lives." Mary's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered. "And what are you going to do about it, Emily? Try to stop me? Please, be my guest." Emily's eyes flashed with determination. "Oh, I'll stop you all right. I'll make sure everyone knows what kind of person you are." And with that, Emily turned and walked away, leaving Mary feeling uneasy for the first time. Had she finally met her match in Emily? Only time will tell. Mary's unease grew as she watched Emily walk away. She had never seen Emily so angry before, and she knew that she had underestimated her. As she walked back to her apartment, Mary couldn't shake off the feeling that she had made a mistake. She had thought that she had won, but now she wasn't so sure. When she got home, Mary tried to distract herself by watching TV, but she couldn't focus. Her mind kept wandering back to Emily and what she had said. Suddenly, Mary heard a knock at the door. She got up to answer it, expecting it to be one of her friends. But to her surprise, it was Emily. "I forgot something," Emily said, her eyes blazing with determination. "I forgot to tell you that I know all about your little secrets, Mary. And I'm going to make sure that everyone else knows too." Mary's heart sank as Emily turned and walked away, leaving her feeling nervous and scared. What secrets was Emily talking about? And what was she going to do with them? Mary's mind raced as she tried to think of what to do next. She knew that she had to act fast, or else Emily would ruin everything. But as she stood there, frozen with fear, Mary realized that she had underestimated Emily once again. Emily wasn't just a silly little friend - she was a force to be reckoned with. And Mary had just made her very angry. Mary tried to shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in her stomach. She told herself that Emily was just bluffing, that she didn't really know any secrets. But as she went about her day, Mary couldn't shake off the feeling that she was being watched. She kept looking over her shoulder, expecting to see Emily lurking in the shadows. And then, just as she was starting to relax, Mary saw a post on social media that made her heart skip a beat. "Mary's secrets are out!" the post read. "Stay tuned for the tea!" Mary's mind raced as she tried to figure out what was going on. Who had posted that? And what secrets were they talking about? As she scrolled through the comments, Mary saw that everyone was speculating about what the post could mean. Some people thought it was about her love life, while others thought it was about her family. But Mary knew the truth. She knew that Emily had somehow discovered her deepest, darkest secrets. And she was determined to use them against her. With a sense of growing unease, Mary realized that she had to take action. She couldn't just sit back and let Emily ruin her reputation. But what could she do? Mary wondered, feeling a sense of desperation wash over her. And then, just as she was starting to lose hope, Mary had an idea. She would confront Emily and demand to know what she knew. With a newfound sense of determination, Mary marched over to Emily's apartment, ready to face whatever secrets were about to be revealed. Mary arrived at Emily's apartment, her heart pounding in her chest. She took a deep breath and knocked on the door. Emily answered, a sly smile spreading across her face. "Well, well, well. Look who's here." Mary's eyes narrowed. "What do you know, Emily? What secrets are you talking about?" Emily chuckled. "Oh, Mary. You have no idea how much I know. But let's just say that I have enough to ruin your reputation." Mary's eyes widened. "What are you talking about?" Emily leaned in, her voice dropping to a whisper. "I know about your little affair with John. And I know about the money you've been embezzling from work." Mary's face went white. She had been caught. "You wouldn't dare," Mary hissed, trying to keep her voice down. Emily shrugged. "Oh, I think I would. You see, Mary, you've been playing with fire for too long. And now it's time to get burned." With that, Emily turned and walked away, leaving Mary standing in the hallway, her world crashing down around her. Mary knew she had to act fast. She couldn't let Emily ruin her reputation. But what could she do? As she stood there, trying to think of a plan, Mary realized that she had underestimated Emily once again. Emily wasn't just a silly little friend - she was a force to be reckoned with. And Mary had just made her very angry. But Mary wasn't one to give up easily. She was determined to fight back, no matter what it took. And so, she began to plot her next move, determined to take down Emily and save her own reputation. The battle between Mary and Emily had only just begun. And only time would tell who would come out on top.
