Chapter 5

Jack

I tried my best to eat this third-class soup I was given. Seriously it's the most disgusting soup I ever had.

"Robert, please take this away and get me something actually edible," I said giving up on this tasteless liquid.

"Sir but that's what the doctor said that it is good for you."

"I don't care what he said. I am not going to take even a single sip more..."

Before I could say any more the gate banged open and there came a very angry Allena staring furiously.

"Of course you don't care, you are the Jackson Paul, we all should bow down to you, yes let's bow down to this great man right in front of us, Robert please join me" she furrowed and I held my breath with me all focus on not laughing. 

She looked really cute when she is angry. I couldn't speak a word, I have been able to get out of many tough situations but swear to god I have no clue what to say.

"I will give you two a minute," Robert said slipping out.

"Allena, will you please calm down and tell me what made you so mad" I patted the bed on my side but she didn't budge.

"Oh, now you would want to talk to me first, why don't you just make another call and ask my boss yourself, you guys seem to be pretty close."

"Ohh...that" I knew that would come back and bite me in the ass. It didn't seem that bad option five minutes back but now I wish I have thought it through.

"Yeah that, why would you do that? What the f**k were you thinking"

"Ok maybe I make an impulsive call but it's not completely my fault. I tried to talk but you just left without listening." I tried explaining.

"Seriously that's your excuse, so from now if I didn't listen to you I will lose my job?" she shouted even louder and her face was getting red like a tomato.

Okay, this was going exactly the opposite of how I wanted. I just need to stop talking.

"Will you say something now?"

"Only when you sit and listen," I said raising my hands in defense.

"Really........uhh okay" she huffed and finally sat down. I also let go of the breath I was holding, she can be really scary when she is angry

"So, I want you to work as my personal secretary," I said in one go she tries to speak again but I stop her, "Wait before you refuse you need to understand that I neither have the strength nor wish to hire anyone else because I don't trust anyone and you owe me this much."

Now she was shut, after a long pause, she finally spoke," Jack I don't really think it's a good idea, it will only complicate things. I can find you another person fit for that job and I will go back to my original job. "

"No, I don't want anyone else. Either you do it or I will do it alone. The doctor has told me to take bed rest for next so I would need extra help with my office work and since you know that I am in this condition trying to save you......... Come on, for old time sake you can do this much for me"

And that worked, it actually worked. I know it's terrible for me to use it but isn't there a saying that everything is fair in love and war.

"Ok, I will do it but I am still mad for you getting me fired from my job"

I gave her my biggest smile, "I knew you would accept it, now if you could get me something to eat. This soup is horrible"

"No, this is good for your health now have it," she said taking a spoon full of it and place it near my mouth giving me a devilish smile and I mindlessly have it.  She smiled and wiped away the side of my lips.

I know for a fact now that I am totally and madly in love with this beautiful stubborn woman. 

But the peace didn't last long, Esther entered the room and her dissatisfaction was clear on her face. Allena also stood up and moved away from the bed.

"Jack are you OK,  what is she doing here? "she came and stood on the other side.

"Esther relaxes, I am fine. " 

"What is she doing here,  she is the reason for your condition, don't tell me you will let all she did to you in the past?"

"Esther,  none of what happened was Allena's fault.  It was all a big misunderstanding and it's clear now. "

"Son you can't really mean that......."

Thankfully doctor came in at that point and saved the situation.

"Mr. Paul, how are you feeling.?" he asked cheerfully.

"Better than before" I smiled trying to lighten the mood in the room.

"Good, all your reports are clear. We will discharge you in the evening " he said and left.

Now I was laying on the bed with Allena standing on one side as Esther on the other both looking at me.

"Whatever your name is, you can leave now. " Esther said pointing to Allena.

"Uhmm... Okay. " Allena said looking at me confused and moved aside when I caught her hand.

"Esther you can go home. I am fine and Allena will take me back to my apartment."

"But son.. "

"Esther please,  I will call you soon. "

"Okay but take good care of yourself and call me if you need anything. " with that she left.  I know I have hurt her but I will make it up to her later with a big gift.

Allena just gave a pity smiled at me and we didn't discuss it any further.

Allen for the rest of the day stayed busy in getting the discharge paper ready and by six in the evening, we were finally back in my apartment. 

I settled myself down on the sofa and drank some water. My muscles were paining like someone was pricking a needle in them.

"Are you fine?" Allena asked worriedly and I just nodded lightly as I heard a knock on the door.

Allena instantly got up, "I will get that."
