“Done” Stephanie Coleman said as she wiped the last of the dishes. She checked the time on her phone. It was 7:39pm. Seeing as there were no customers and there was no sign of any coming into the small cafe, she wiped down the counter and stepped out from behind the counter grabbing her bag from one of the tables.
“Hey Carlos,”she said calling to an old man wearing a waiter's uniform who was cleaning one of the tables“I think I'm gonna leave early today” she told him.
“You go on ahead.I'm gonna lock up. Don't worry about it.” He replied while still wiping down the tables.
Stephanie flashed him her brightest smile and walked out the door clutching her purse to herself, mumbling a quick bye to Carlos who replied with a small wave.
She opened her car door and got in. She gripped the steering wheel and laid her head on it. Sighing, she reminded herself again how much she hated working late but also how she had to to be able to provide for herself and her drunk “husband”,She also had to use it to at least support the kids in any way she could.
Sighing again, she put her car in drive, pulled out of the car park and began cruising on the highway. Driving sometimes helped to clear her head. It didn't work.
After driving for a few minutes, she pulled into her “home”. Stephanie put quotes around “home” whenever she thought about it.
She stepped out of the car and locked the doors, proceeding to the front door of the house.
She pulled her key out of her bag and inserted the key in the lock, twisting it open and stepping into the house.

Lucia Coleman stepped down from yet another cab.She paid the driver and pulled both her brother and the bag out of the seat. She gave the driver a fake smile before he drove off away from her.
She let her eyes roam around .There were a few shops in the area but most were closed. It was at least 11:00 pm which explained why the place was a bit deserted. only few people walked along the sidewalk.
Lucia watched as a few cars made their way down the road until she couldn't see them anymore.
“I'm hungry” Damien said looking up at Lucia. She realized he hadn't eaten dinner yet. She looked around again and spotted a McDonald's on the other side of the road, still open.
She bent down to pick up the bag she had dropped and walked in the direction of the eatery with Damien trailing close behind her.
“A burger and fries and a strawberry milkshake”she ordered when she got to the counter. The bored looking girl behind the counter went in to probably prepare the order.
She walked to one of the tables and sat down on it,still looking left and right. She half expected the entire police force to be on her tail by now. According to the movies she'd watched, the girl behind the counter was a secret agent working for the FBI. And that the police were just waiting for the perfect moment to swoop in and arrest her. You're just being paranoid, she mumbled to herself taking deep breaths to calm down. She was also bothered by the fact that there were almost the only other people in the eatery. The only other person was a tall good looking guy sporting a tattoo on the back of his left arm sitting in a table across from her and Damien.
Lucia jumped when she heard a sound but relaxed when she realized it was the girl behind the counter bringing along the food in a tray.
She took a moment to take in her features. It was a habit Lucia had developed. She liked to examine the features of random people she sees just in case she was needed to identify a serial killer. Okay, I really need to stop watching crime movies, she thought to herself. The thought of a serial killer reminded her that she'd killed her father and then her face fell remembering she had to keep moving.
The girl had auburn hair and had smooth skin. She was wearing a light blue t-shirt and faded blue jeans accompanied by the company's cap on her head. She had on converse sneakers that looked comfortable, on her feet.
The girl noticed Lucia staring at her and the bored expression on her face was replaced with a creeped out one.
“Um... en...enjoy your meal”The girl stuttered trying to probably lighten the atmosphere. She looked relieved when she started going back to her place behind the counter after Lucia gave a curt nod as a reply to her.
Lucia paid the girl and watched Damien shove the burger and fries into his face.He stopped eating after a while looking worriedly at his sister.
“Do you want my fries“He asked.
“No,I'm not hungry“She replied. That was a lie. Her stomach was rumbling by now but she couldn't afford to buy more food when the money she had was diminishing quickly. She looked back at Damien and noticed he was still looking at her with a frown on his face.
“what?”she asked him. Her voice sounded strange, even to her own ears. She realized she must have been staring at him.
Damien just shook his head and continued stuffing his face with food.
Lucia turned away waiting for Damien to finish eating so they could keep moving. They'd wasted far too much time in the McDonald's. She caught her reflection in one of the windows and saw that she had a creepy glint in her eyes. One she hadn't noticed before .And she knew that from then on she'd always be a little crazy.
