"You looked tensed, doctor." Yuri noticed and I looked at the ten year old angel. Her eyes were gazing at me like a mother stares her daughter, after she is been caught sneaking some snack inside her room. I shook my head. My eyes focused on wrapping her injuries with the the bandage but never did she wince. Like nothing pained her. But then she was angel with high pain tolerance. What else could be expected from her? "I'm not tensed." I mumbled and I heard her sighing as her piercing turquoise orbs bored into mine with intensity that shook me from within. "You're a horrible liar, doctor. Tell me is it about Ansel Duncan?" She asked and my eyes snapped up at her before I let out a sigh, slowly nodding my head as I through the dirty cottons inside the bin, removing my gloves and mask as I was done with treating her wounds. "Yeah. I haven't heard from him since last night." She rose her brows at my words, making me shake my head as I explained further. "He came to my room, last night. And a conversation of ours..... it triggered me to a point that I wanted to harm myself. He calmed me down and he even put me to sleep using his spell. But since then, I haven't heard from me." "And you're scared that he might have lost his interest in you." Yuri spoke my fear out loud, making me wince as I bit my lips, shrugging my shoulders but her smile told me she understood what I was feeling, what I was thinking. "Ansel isn't a kind of man who would develop or lose interest in a snap of fingers, human. I've known him from years. If he stayed with you last night until you fall asleep, he won't ever leave you then, doctor. He doesn't care for people he has no affection towards. That's how brutal he is." She explained to me and I looked at her with a smile that didn't reach my eyes. "Are you..... are you two close?" I asked and she smiled at me, looking at me with her amused gaze, making my insides to quiver from how much power radiated off her. But she was a Goddess, an angel. The angel of Karma. I am bound to feel her aura. She is the highest authority among us. "What do you think, human?" She asked sweetly and I gulped, shrugging my shoulders as I closed my eyes with a sigh. "I don't know, Yuri. Ansel lost his father way before his death. Ansel lost him the day, he fell out of love with his mother and fell for your mother. And though there's really no reason to hate you or your mother for this but he might feel some anger towards your father. You are an outcome of the love that took Ansel away from his father. I don't know what to think ahead this. You are his half sister and yet I have never seen your two together." Yuri blinked at my words. Maybe they cam out too harsh. I suddenly felt the guilt for asking a question that kept nagging inside me. I saw how she lost all her mischief and smiled at me softly. "I'm almost two hundred years younger to Ansel. So when I was born, Luna— my mother and Ansel weren't on talking terms. The fire time I saw him was on father's funeral. He came there, he didn't talk to anybody. He just payed his respect and left. He must've felt what you did right now. He still must be hating on my mother for taking his father away from him." Yuri said with a soft chuckle, shaking her head but there wasn't anything funny about what she was telling me. "But that never stopped him for caring for me. Weird, no? A heartless, dead creature like vampires to care for others?" She asked with a soft laughter. Her eyes glistening with tears. And this time her teats felt real. As real as it could be. "He is not heartless, Yuri. Just a....... just a little reserved. And his birth in vampire species doesn't define him. I know him, I saw him— the real him. And even if he has a demon residing inside him, it only protects him. I never found his demon scary ...... a little demanding— yes. But gentle as the feather. He is a beautiful soul, Yuri. Your brother is a beautiful species." "When you can have so much faith in him, doctor, why don't you put the same faith in yourself? You didn't scare him, Atarah. Trust me when I say, he'll forget himself before forgetting you. He's just in a fight. Some intruders tried to attack the borders. Some human soldiers were killed. Ansel is busy fighting them. Do not think otherwise, okay?" He asked gently and I bit my lips, nodding my head. A big weight got lifted off my shoulders and chest. But he was in a fight. A war. How was this any better than him ignoring me? "He would be safe, right?" I asked softly and she smiled, nodding her head, as she leaned back against her bed, closing her eyes. "You have seen my brother bleeding, doctor. But you haven't seen him fighting. He would be safe, you should think about the enemies." I rolled my eyes, a soft chuckle escaping my own mouth as I got up from the bed, gazing down at the ten year old. "It is weird how seeing your injuries pain me, Yuri. Please tell me this is the last time, we're meeting with you covered up in bruises. I'll rather have you for tea than have you meet me with so many injuries." She opened one of her eyes and a smile formed on her face— something that told me she wasn't happy. "We would have to meet soon, Doctor. Because I still have to wait until they brim their pot with sins. Only then can I punish them for their sins. Because if it's not me, it would be definitely someone else."
