KATHERINE:
I was shocked and silent when my mother made mention that I would still have grandpa Gideon's wealth if I have a child with Ace. But I shook my head and replied, "No, Mom. I cannot get pregnant by Ace. It's better for me to carry another man's child than to have Ace's baby. He doesn't like me and has a woman in his life. She could be pregnant for him, since he has been sleeping with her before now..."
"Kate, you are becoming too stubborn, and I don't like it. You know what it was like for our family when we had nothing. Grandpa Gideon was our very good customer, and I didn't know he was the one who used to send that man before I became sick. Try and think about it and don't dishonor your promise to that elderly kind man. Okay?"
"But, Mom?" I cried, and she said, "Just take it easy, and everything will be alright. One thing is certain that they wouldn't hurt you."
"I am already hurt, Mom!" I cried, tears flooding down my cheeks.
"I am hurt already. Why can't you understand me? Today, Ace's mother, his sister, and his girlfriend all beat me up. Just because I was waiting for Ace to return back at the dining table. My cheeks are red and swollen, and you are still advising me to remain here. Is it until they kill me that you will welcome my corpse?" I asked my mother angrily, as I cried, and she sighed.
"No one will kill you. Just be prayerful and have faith in your marriage," Mom advised, and I grumbled.
"Fine. I have heard you, Mom. I will decide on this matter on my own. Good night," I told her, and the phone call finally ended.
I turned around to leave the room and to return the plate to the kitchen, but recalling that Ace and his family are there, I chose not to leave my room and ensured that my bedroom door was properly locked.
I walked up to my bed to sleep, and I shut my eyes closed, sleeping as I was already tired, and my cheeks were hurting.
I didn't have any ointment to rub on it, and the last one I had had finished, and I forgot to inform the maid to get it.
Sleeping on my pillow hurt, but I tried to sleep.
As I was sleeping, I heard a loud knock on my door, which sprang me up from my sleep.
"Who is there?" I asked nervously, getting out of my bed and moving over to the door to see who was there.
As I peered at the door, I saw one of the maids there waiting for me.
I sighed out with relief and came out of the room.
"I'm sorry to disturb you, ma. But the boss said that I should give you this ointment to apply it on your cheeks," the maid, Violet, gave me the ointment, and my brows furrowed, wondering when Ace started to care for me.
"Thank you," I told her, as I stood in front of my room door. However, as I wanted to head back into my room to sleep, I saw Ace and Naomi coming through the corridor.
Naomi wrapped her arms around Ace's arm, and she walked with him and smirked at me.
She spoke to him softly, but I looked away from them and went back into my room, ensuring to lock the door properly. I didn't care if Ace sleeps with Naomi or not, or if he fụcks her on our matrimonial bed, which was his room.
It was not the first time that Ace had taken Naomi into his bedroom, and I lost interest in wanting to share a bed with him.
I was hopeful that he would have honored our wedding anniversary, but he brought Naomi home, and that was a clear indication that he doesn't respect our marital vows.
I went to the mirror in my room, looked at my cheeks in the mirror, and applied the ointment on my cheeks.
"Mmm," I hummed, feeling the cooling effect as I had thought that it would burn me. But it provided that ice-cold relief that made me relaxed instead of feeling hurt.
I went to use my bathroom to wash my hands and ease myself. Once I came out, I turned off the light and left only the dimly lit lamp on in my room. Then I went to bed to sleep.

ACE:
I wasn't expecting to see Katherine by the corridor, looking at me and Naomi, as Naomi insisted on following me to my room.
"Babe, what's wrong with you tonight? Why do I feel like you don't love me anymore?" Naomi asked me sadly, pausing at my bedroom door as she queried me.
"Of course you know that I love you. It's just that, I have responsibilities to fulfill, and I have to do that," I told Naomi, as we stood by my bedroom door.
My parents and siblings came upstairs, but they went to the other side, the left wing of the mansion where their rooms were.
"Babe, but I am your fiancée, the woman you love. Why not let us get married, and that way, I will have your child, and your marriage with Katherine wouldn't count? We can probably lie to the lawyer that Katherine was infertile and couldn't conceive for you," Naomi said, clutching my hands tightly and looking at me lovingly as she gazed at my face.
"No. You think Katherine will lie and back me up like she used to lie to my grandpa on my behalf? One single mistake with her, and I will risk losing everything that I have. I cannot allow that to happen, and you have to understand with me and maybe see Katherine as your co-wife. I have to do it with her," I said, and Naomi's gaze darkened.
"Are you saying that you want to truly sleep with Katherine and get her pregnant?!" Naomi yelled, and my expression became stern.
