Melanie's POV

I took in a deep breath and lay on the grass, staring at the cloud, I closed my eyes, and then I remembered Malik, lali and Dean and wondered if they're okay

"What are you thinking ". I heard his voice,

"Nothing". I murmured

"You know you can talk to me and I will listen"

I open my eyes and wondered what kind of a person he was, he doesn't know me ,yet he let me stay with them, he doesn't know me yet he wants to know more about me.

I hissed softly and closed my eye before speaking up,

"I can't tell you about myself when I don't even know your name ". I murmured with my eyes closed

He kept quiet and none of us said a thing for a while until he spoke up

"You can call me xoa".he spoke firmly

"That's not your real name". I muttered out those words like I was so sure of it.

He chuckled softly, and I had to open my eyes to see what's funny.

That's my name".he declared truthfully,

I roll my eyes and look away.

"So who do you have waiting for you back home ?" He asked,

I hissed softly when I remembered Malik and wondered how he was fearing.

"My son and family". I spoke firmly,

"Son?" He asked while staring at me in shock,

"Yes, I have a three years old son". I responded with no shame in me,

He stared at me with a questioning look before speaking up

"You don't look like one who has a kid already".he muttered out those words while staring at me with curiosity.

I chuckled softly and stood up from the ground.

"Many people have been saying this".

"And we are right ".he muttered put those words while staring at me with quizzical eyes.

I smiled at him and walked around the bush while he just sat there and stared at me like he was trying to pierce through my soul.

"How old are you ?" He asked with his gaze fixed on me.

"Why do you ask"

"I'm just curious, you look young".he muttered out those words and stood up from the ground,

I roll my eyes at him and looked away.

"Are you hiding your age from me?" He asked while staring at me with a questioning look.

"There is nothing for me to hide there, I'm just twenty-five ". I spoke firmly,

He stared at me right in the eyes like he was trying to read through me.

"You don't look married".he questioned curiously,

"I'm not ". I murmured and moved away from him, trying to avoid his gaze on me.

He stared at me for a while and didn't say a word to me.

He sat on the ground and closed his eyes before taking a deep breath.

"Why did you stop working in the palace"

I look at him shocked and angry ,he was basically interrogating me and I hated it.

I ignored his questions and walked around in anger

"We should leave".he muttered out those words and was about getting up from the ground when I heard noises coming from the other end of the bush

"What is that ?" I asked in fear

He stood up from the ground and gently pull me to himself

"Stay still okay ?" He spoke with so much care and authority that I felt all the fear in me vanished

I swallowed in fear and nod my head at him

Three solider who are recognized was the kidnapper's men

seeing them I gulped in fear and stood behind xoa, this was the end of me, how will xoa fight this three trained solider.

I closed my eyes in fear and held on to his clothes in fear.

"What's going on here".he demanded in anger

To my greatest surprise the men fell on their feet and bow their face on the ground

"We are so sorry". They murmured in fear

He groaned angrily and roughly ran his fingers through his hair before speaking up

"Go tell your master she is with me, and he knows what that means ".he spoke firmly with authority and no fear

"Yes sir".they all stood up from the ground and ran away.

I came out from my hiding behind him and stared at him with curiosity.

"Who are you ?" I asked while staring directly into his eyes,

He chuckled softly and lock eyes with me before speaking up,

"If you know who I am, you will be on your feet talking to me".

Melanie POV

Hearing those words from him, I knew he was a man of high status but who he was, was a mystery to you

"Who are you ". I asked again,

He smiled at me before coming closer to me

"I'll let you find out yourself" he ran his fingers through my hair like I was a child

"Stop it ". I murmured playfully,

He chuckled softly and remove his hand from my hair.

"Nice hair ".he murmured

I roll my eyes at him and walked beside him,

"Aren't you scared of this place ?" I asked while staring around.

He chuckled loudly and stared at me with laughter on his face.

"This place should be scared of me and not the other way round ".he muttered out those words in a serious tune.

I stared at him, shocked and confused.

"You mean the bushes should be scared of you ". I spoke in disbelief,

He flash me a weak smile before looking away,

We walked for a while before I realized we were not taking the same path we took when we left the camp.

“Where are we going". I asked while staring around.

"You will see".he muttered out those words and kept on walking.

I followed him without saying a word until we got to a big river,

"This is my favorite place here ".he murmured happily and started pulling off his clothes

Quickly I turn around and took in a deep breath

He chuckled and kept on undressing himself.

"You can turn, don't worry I'm not naked,

I shake my head and refused to turn around.

He chuckled softly, and I heard him walking away before I heard the noises from the water indicating he was in.

I turn and stared at him,

"You should join ".he requested

"No, thanks ". I murmured and sat on the ground while staring elsewhere apart from the river, so I won't stare at him.

He turns this back at me and I noticed a big knife tattooed on his back.

The drawing of the knife was so big that it occupied all of his back.

I took a better look at it and realized I was getting intoxicated by the drawing of the knife and I couldn't look away.

"I could feel your eyes on me ".he spoke up with his back still to me.

I gulped and look away.

"Where did you get that?" I asked

"What ".he asked

"The drawing ". I asked.

"I was born with it".he muttered out

"What " I asked shocked and in disbelief

"It's a mark of the gods ".he muttered out those words and stared directly into my eyes, and it felt like he was trying to pierce through my soul.

I remove my gaze from him and was about to say something when I noticed a big snake coming my way,

"Snake". I screamed and jumped into the river and cling unto xoa with my hands on his neck.

He chuckled softly and stared at the snake, who turned a different direction and went away.

"What was that !" I asked while staring at him shocked,

"What ".he pretended like nothing happened.

I removed my hands from his neck and stared at the snake, who was lost of sight.

"Why didn't the snake come into the water "? I asked while staring at him with curiosity.

"Maybe the snake fears water ".he spoke nonchalantly and poured water on his face.

I knew he was lying, he did something, something that chase the snake away.

"What did you do because I know you did something ". I murmured,

He soaked his hair in the water before speaking up.

"I don't have to do anything, only my presence drive them away".he murmured those words in authority.

Hearing those words from him, I remembered what happened earlier and how the men fell on their feet when they met face to face with him.

He was indeed someone important, but who he was, was still a mystery to me.

"Your clothes are soaked, if only you heard me and came into the water when I called".he spoke up

I look at myself I realized he was right, I was soaked.

I hissed softly and was about getting out from the water when he pulls me to himself so that we were just an inch apart.

"Stay ".the words came as a command.

I swallowed nervously and moved away,

Never was I this closed to a man.

I moved a bit away from him and look away.

"Relax and don't be scared, for I am with you and nothing can harm you ".he muttered out proudly and dip his head in the water.

He came out of the water and dips his head again, but this time he did not come out.

"Xoa". I called out his name but got no response from him,

"Xoa". I called out in fear and panic but no response from.

I moved to the spot he was and dip my head inside the water, but I couldn't see him.

I pull out and stared around but still no trace from him.
