A soft, comfortable blanket now covered Key's body, as she lay comfortably on the bed. Her eyes slowly began to close, fully convinced that Ervan was near her.
Soon, the sound of soft, calm snoring reached Ervan's ears.
Ervan's hand reached out to gently stroke Key's hair, which felt soft under his fingers.
Honestly, a feeling of sadness and pain pierced him when he saw Key like this. He didn't know for sure the origin of Key's trauma, but he couldn't deny that he had already made assumptions about the trauma she had experienced.
"If your father hadn't worked on that project, and if your father hadn't been so intelligent, perhaps he would still be by your side," Ervan said, his gaze sadly fixed on the calm Key.
After that, Ervan frowned slightly.
For a moment, he realized something odd he might have overlooked.
Wait...
‘Has Key's father's research been successful? Or...’
Ervan quickly grabbed his phone, which he had left in the living room where Key and he had been together, because he couldn't find it in his pants pocket.
"Tch, I should have realized this," Ervan said, quickening his pace.
As he suspected, his phone was still lying there.
Ervan, with a passionate voice, seemed very serious about his conversation on the phone. This time, Ervan even asked his secretary to find out about the progress and completion of the project that Ervan had heard vaguely about during his previous visits to see Key's father.
So, who exactly is Key's father? And what is his relationship with Ervan?
Key's father is none other than a professor at Oxford, respected by the lecturers and seniors there, and Key's father was Ervan's former lecturer.
So... the world is small, isn't it?
Key accidentally met Ervan, who was simply on vacation in London to calm her mind. It turned out that Key was there for the same reason as Ervan.
Do you think Ervan and Key are meant to be?
If so...
It seems Key has no intention of thinking about it. She tends to only think about what she thinks logically, not her feelings.
Key is too innocent for romance.
After giving directions and instructions to his secretary, who faithfully carried out his orders, Ervan decided to check on Key again, because after all, Ervan had promised Key to stay with her so he wouldn't have nightmares.
A smile spread across Ervan's face when he found Key still peacefully sleeping.
"Thank goodness you're still sleeping like that. If I do, I'll be much more at ease," Ervan said to himself, shortly after closing Key's bedroom door.
Yes, Ervan had only been watching from the front door, not entering Key's room, only to be there in case something untoward happened.
Ervan didn't want to disturb Key's peace.
"Don't worry, I'll help you. Your father was a good man and a good role model for me. If I hadn't just left your father, things might have turned out differently," Ervan said in a low voice, recalling the old memory that suddenly resurfaced in his head.
"Ethan, Chan!" Ervan shouted as he left Key's room.
The two sturdy young men, dressed neatly, returned to their usual high-class bodyguards in their suits, approaching Ervan.
Both men appeared dignified and intimidated as they stood before him.
Ervan nodded slowly, remarking that they did indeed look like bodyguards, compared to when he saw them being tricked by Key with all his short but complex questions.
Ethan and Chan simultaneously apologized to Ervan. Unexpectedly, Ervan patted them on the shoulder and thanked them for comforting Key, which had momentarily relieved her of her trauma, although he didn't explicitly explain that Key had a specific trauma that was bothering her.
Ethan and Chan simultaneously frowned and exchanged glances.
"I'm adding to your duties," Ervan said firmly, looking at them both.
Both seemed to be waiting for their superior to continue.
"If Key has a unique request, then you should follow it. Just limit his interactions with people outside. If circumstances permit, I will allow Key to return to Oxford with you accompanying him. Let me know if you find anyone or any group you deem suspicious," Ervan stated firmly.
Ervan received a simultaneous nod from both men.
After the serious discussion with the two bodyguards he trusted to guard Key was over, Ervan headed to his room to clean himself and cool his overheated mind.
***
A man dressed all in black, a wooden cigar with a slightly carved tip, was tucked into his right finger, which was gripping the handle of the chair he was currently sitting on.
"How is it? Have you found the girl?" the man asked in a deep voice.
Silence...
There was no response from the five young men standing perfectly still in front of the man.
CRACK!!!
A loud bang on the table in front of the man echoed through the spacious room.
The tallest of the five men spoke softly, barely audible.
"Sorry, sir, we failed... That girl was difficult to track. It seems someone is protecting her, sir."
A chuckle and a smile suddenly appeared on the man who had been sitting there.
"You think I'm stupid, she's all alone. So... Is it possible that the girl has a protector?" the man asked in a tone that seemed cynical and intimidating, making the young man, who had previously responded shrink back.
The young man truly hated this position, where he and his four friends seemed cornered.
"Two weeks. You must finish it, no excuses," the man said firmly and briefly.
The five young men swallowed hard and quickly nodded their heads.
If the man had stated the specified time, it meant the length of time they would be risking there. Two weeks... The lives of the five young men seemed to be hanging by a thin thread, the time alarm they had from the cigar-wearing man.
"Get out!" the man snapped at the five young men.
Automatically, the five young men turned around and left the man's room.
