Chapter one: The Extraction at 30,000 Feet
The air in the private jet was thick with the scent of expensive bourbon and impending death. Kaelen adjusted the grip on his suppressed sidearm, his eyes locked on the vault door at the back of the cabin. He wasn’t here for the gold; he was here for the "Asset."
When the door hissed open, he didn’t find a hard drive. He found a woman. Sienna stood there in a tattered evening gown, her eyes sharp as glass and her fingers dancing across a holographic interface.
"I’ve already decrypted the drives," she said, her voice steady despite the plane’s sudden tilt. "If you kill me, the data self-destructs."
"I'm not here to kill you," Kaelen grunted, grabbing her arm as the first explosion rocked the fuselage. "I’m the guy who gets you out alive."
The cabin wall ripped open, the sky howling into the pressurized space. Kaelen didn't wait for her consent. He clipped her harness to his own and dived into the abyss. As they plummeted through the clouds, the jet exploding above them in a blossom of orange fire, Sienna clung to his chest. In that terrifying freefall, amidst the smoke and the roar of the wind, their eyes met. It was a look of pure, adrenaline-fueled recognition. They were both survivors, and the game had just begun.
