You could see the pain all over her face. Even in the cold snow that freezes everything that comes its way, her lips quivered in disbelief and her body shook as she covered her mouth with her trembling grey gloved hands which she removed to feel his chest for a heartbeat. Her eyebrows knitted with sorrow as she realized that ‘HE WAS DEAD’. She could not cry, for the cold won’t let her.
She had fallen in love with this dead man a few hours ago. His closed eyes and simple features made him sparked his honest and innocent soul. She had never seen a man so closely before. She found him lying at the foot of a tree. She was sure he was dead, for she couldn’t feel his heartbeat. Tears dried as soon as they left her eyes. Her chest was too tight to breathe. Her little cottage with hay roof was not warm enough and she believed she fainted due to cold as soon as she realized she had fallen and hit the ground. In the few milliseconds before the whole world went black, she wished to die for the second time in this week.
Sara had been a wonderful girl full of life since childhood before she lost her parents a couple of weeks ago. Though according to her relatives, she shouldn’t have been shocked because being a daughter of an army officer at an enemy border, she should’ve been ready for this. Her father and her uncle were the most respected top army officers in the state though she had always wondered why his uncle was a freak and a dreadful person. He had twice tried to kill her father. She was no fool. She had overheard from the conversation of her parents. It wouldn’t be wrong to say they were richer than her uncle because he had wasted his share of property and money in his youth. His devious nature worried her father but he never let it overpower his love for his younger brother. After the death of her parents, quite expectantly, her uncle kicked her out of her house and ruled over every single penny. A typical story of a typical household, she had thought with her sad grey eyes shedding a tear.
Hungry and homeless, Sara had built herself a sweet little cottage near the forest. She had thought life had given her a second chance but she had yet to find out, fate had other plans for her.
