101. Communication and Reassurance

I woke up abruptly to Vincenzo wailing. I stumbled out of bed and grabbed one of Nìkolai’s shirts before throwing it on. “I’ll get him.” Nìkolai offered as he sat up in bed. “No, it’s okay. I got him. Just go back to bed.” I walked over to the crib and picked Vincenzo up. I rocked him in my arms and hummed to him softly. “What’s wrong baby? Are you hungry? Or is your diaper dirty?” I whispered as I brushed my fingers across Vincenzo’s chubby cheeks. “Or maybe it’s both.” I laid him back down in his crib and checked his diaper, seeing that he was dirty. I grabbed some supplies and cleaned him up before changing his diaper. “All better now.” I whispered as I smiled down at him and how cute he was. I leaned over and kissed his tummy, making him squeak. “Let’s get you some food.” I
