CHAPTER 24VOINJAMA The place where Darius was supposed to meet the vans and Sergeant Doe’s man was a mile or so outside of Voinjama on the right side of the road. The sun had been up for several hours when Darius got to the town. The heat was beginning to hit him in the face like an intense fever. The milling crowds and small shops that usually filled the dirt streets by day had not yet awakened. A few dogs loped along the streets, panting in anticipation of rising heat.
