The light brown building with its arched windows and old-style presence of the Supreme Court suddenly lit up in Bella’s eyes. Liz and Jamie wrapped their arms around Bella as Marco watched with a gleam in his eyes.
“Life imprisonment. Dawn got life without parole,” said Bella.
“Yes, and thanks to your testimony,” said Marco.
“I am happy for you girl. You are finally safe,” said Liz.
“And I couldn’t be prouder of your absolute bravery,” said Jamie.
“I say we go celebrate,” said Bella.
Liz and Jamie stared at one another, then Liz said, “Jamie and I need to go. You and Marco catch up.” She gave her a wink, and before Bella could respond, they both waved and rushed off.
