AT HER OWN PERIL
Bella sighed with relief at the end of her workday, having treated five clients with similar problems. She relished home for the pure joy of soaking in an invigorating bath, to focus only on lowering her high adrenaline levels.
She walked her last client out of the door then closed it behind her. She found Mari deep in thought behind the receptionist desk. She was chewing on her nails, her eyes peering into the distance. Probably thinking about her possessive boyfriend again or the cafe incident. She appeared to be struggling over the break-up, big-time. She was about to offer a soothing comment, but then Mari put her head down and pressed stamps onto envelopes for appointment letters. Why bother her? She’ll be fine.
