CHAPTER 56: A DEATH TRAP Bella’s head seemed to weigh a ton. Her shoulders ached. She slowly opened her eyes and tried to roll over, but her arm was caught. She blinked away the blurriness. There was a length of rope tied around her wrist. She looked down at her feet. They were in stirrups. She was strapped to a bed. Gasping, she looked around a room with bare walls, a sterile stench, dusty lino flooring, and a silver tray of implements on a mobile table. She looked closer at the implements and a chill ran down her spine. In the tray lay a scalpel, a hammer, a serrated knife, and scissors.
