FRAGILE STATE
Bella woke up to find herself a bloody mess, the caked up dried blood making her feel nauseous. She struggled to breathe through the sharp pain throbbing in her chest. Dehydrated, she wondered how long it had been since she had been cut.
Muffled voices in the distance caught her attention. She wondered if the deeper voice belonged to Jackson. No doubt they were working as a team with all these murders.
She heard the creak of a floorboard. They were coming for her. Panic rose and doubled when Jackson ran towards her. “Oh, Bella. I’m so sorry. I’m here now. You’ll be fine.” He touched her face and leaned in, kissing her softly on the lips. Bella turned, but he forced his lips on hers. Suddenly, Dawn pulled him away from her.
